This shot is part of my new series and this sub-topic is something that scholars dealing with arts and literature have discussed a lot. During my college years several professors have asked us 'What does a monument really tell you?' And a monument tells you nothing if nobody informs you what it stands for. So even if there are inscriptions on the monument, if these inscriptions aren't frequently re-translated into the current world languages we will lose the meaning, we will no longer know what our ancestors thousands of years ago wanted to tell us.
In an arts class, when we were dealing with an artist who loved working with decomposable things, so mildew/mould was a big part of his artworks and his artworks were supposed to decompose, the process of this was a part of the art experience, my professor shook his head at museums who desperately tried to 'save' these artworks and tried to 'conserve' them so future generations can still view them, too. These museums of course absolutely went against what the artist had tried to convey with his artwork. Anyways, during that discussion, my arts professor asked us:

'If you nowadays look at a bust of Julius Caesar, what does it really tell you, except that he had a prominent chin?'

His point was that looking at a Caesar monument (or of any other great figure of history as they proudly ride on their horses) tells you nothing of the person, unless you inform yourself. And to be able to do that, there will be continuously the need for historians and other people to keep the cultural heir alive, to tell future generations of what it truly means.

I have taken a bust of King Tutankhamun. Personally, I'm a big fan and have dealt with him a lot, I think his life story is very interesting. But if you've ever been to Egypt, you'll see busts, statues, dolls etc of him everywhere. And I ask you: do the majority of people really look at this golden façade and understand what they're looking at? Or have these symbols of the past already become empty symbols? Are they just pretty to look at, but other than that shallow? And hence, I think the link to the main topic of this series has been established.

^{All natural bokeh of course, even though they might look a bit too even (it's because of what I used to reflect the light/create the bokeh had too even a pattern). Was worth a try}

This is Part VI of my new series 'Gold is Cold, Diamonds are Dead'

The entire series is going to have a very soft feel about it, so I will intentionally adjust my camera so there will be more intentional blur in it than there are in my other works.

The series' theme is of course inspired by the J'adore Dior perfume ad lines:

'Gold is cold, Diamonds are dead, a Limousine is a car, dont pretend, feel whats real.'

I got a lot of messages the last couple of days from people asking about the secret behind my latest photo "Omega" and how i did it..

So i'd like to present my secret assistant "Snowball"

Snowball" was actually playing with dice in this photo, each time i arranged it he would just stand up and slap it to make it collapse. but..

There isn't a real secret behind "Omega" really.., i used 2 air blowers from each side of the black and white dice to make them collapse each group towards the other, i must admit it was difficult but through a lot of trials and errors i finally reached my imagination.

"The Secret Assistant" was shot in the same session i shot "Omega", Snowball was there but he had nothing to do with it.
