Steampunk boots

Right now im working on two steampunk characters and i COULD NOT come up with any clothing so i just worked on their faces and decided to sleep on the clothing. Well i had a dream that i was making these boots for part of a costume looking at a picture refrence and in my dream i was like omg this is what i need for my picture!! XD

Steampunk Locket

I've been working like hell these past couple of weeks to get some more jewellery out. It seems no matter how much time I spend making these, I never have that much to show afterwards O_o
Where is all my time going!? I want it back!

This is the first locket I've tried making- I have a couple more to experiment with. I'm really quite proud of how this one turned out

This is a one-of-a-kind silver-plated filigree heart pendant.
On the outside, it has a red metal rose cabochon with vintage watch cogs. Inside, the locket opens up to an empty left panel (for a photo or so you can see inside) and the right panel has more vintage watch cogs and a vintage movement plate.

My sister is doing a "romp" through Brisbane with her steampunk troupe [link] I got inspired by their costumes, and I've always loved steampunk.

I didn't make the locket base. My dad bought it on a shop counter yonks ago. Everything else is mine.

Steampunk Mask...Full Steam

This is a mask inspired by Steampunk...I called it "Full Steam".

It is carved out of one piece of 8oz leather by hand...I never use stamps or molds in my process. I painted this with some wonderful Liquitex acrylics in great gold-through-copper tones. Finished with a brown antiquing stain I mixed myself.

The mask is a detail of the workings of a German watch dating back to 1890. I kept the scrollwork & flourishes because I think that's the essence of Steampunk; Antique Technology.

This mask was a real departure for me, stylistically. I had a lot of fun with it.

It appeared on the cover of Artvoice magazine, the February 19, 2009 issue.

Steampunk Mad Hatter Hat

This is my second entry for 's contest, steampunk alice in wonderland characters.

This is my hat design for the Mad Hatter. This hat has TONS of features on it and took me forever to make. The clock you see on the side is fully functional! It tells the time and everything. Two chains dangle behind that, of course, the 10/6 card is featured on the right side (if viewing from the front) with a feather spread behind it. The black band is upholstery faux leather, and a lovely little button on the side has a chain underneath it that leads to... you guessed it... an attached monacle!!!! The rim is painted copper, which matches the brass goggles, which are optional.

The hat is approximately 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches wide, and sits perfectly on the round of your skull on either side. Wide black ribbon can be attached to hold it on, or I can attach a hairclip to go into your hair, it's personal preference.

Halfsteam Steampunk Mask

When I designed my "Fullsteam" leather steampunk mask (which you can see if you check out my gallery), I liked the elements on each side of the mask so much that I did two more masks with one side plain brown leather & one side full of clockwork gear elements. This was the right side of the "Fullsteam" design, so I called it "Halfsteam".

The gearworks were drawn from life...I used a German watch as my model. Everything is carved by hand & painted with Liquitex metallic acrylic paints.

So I found a new watch face that I think looks better on this cuff, even though it's still a matter of personal preference. I think it looks more "vintage" and the pattern on it looks almost ancient.
