Eorlingas crossing a ford. Could be the Isen or some other stream. I'm not sure about that.

I think the Tolkien Bestiary by David Day mentions the Rohirrim riding white and grey horses. That's the image I've always had in mind and try to use. Is it realistic? No. But neither are dragons, so get over it

The Boy And His Dragon

***I have had quite a few How To Train Your Dragon quotes and while that is a complimentary comparison this is in no way inspired by that film, as I had developed the idea behind these two way before that film came out ( and I had no idea about the books )It's been a couple of years since I last did a painting of this pair. Here they are trying to catch fish. This was when his dragon was a lot younger...they do grow up fast, do dragons. Same also applies to Eragon comparison! Not inspired by that either***

I will probably develop these into a children's picture book soon so expect a few more with these two and their adventures.

The Devil Makes Work

I'm not sure where this one came from! It felt good to do it, though. I feel like I've had an art block for so long (despite doing uni design projects, the odd painting etc) and maybe I've finally broken out of it. Who knows?

The griffin isn't really a griffin. I decided he didn't suit wings. So he's just some great big, shaggy, feathery monster thing. He burns on command. Burns other things on command, that is, not himself.

Some of you guys wanted to see more of Caleb so here he is. My little guy finds winter so tough (you can tell he's cold, he's actually wearing something on his upper half). He is in a bad mood because his fire is going out, he has to tie stupid bands around the bottom of his trousers to try and stop them soaking water up to his knees, his tail and his ears are wet and it's snowing on him, and he needs a hug and a turkey dinner. But don't feel too sorry for him, he's a little terror.

Photoshop digital painting, about 9000x7000 pixels. I had to get a book out and read for a while whenever I wanted to save the bloody thing. If I have to open this file again I think I'll cry, as it'll take so long. Pain in the arse.

Edit: Added the black border because I like black borders.

Hammer Time

So, I asked my boyfriend what I should paint next.
"Hammers," he said.
"I can't just paint hammers," I replied. "I'm a fantasy artist. Just painting 'hammers' would be boring."
"Then paint a unicorn holding a hammer," he suggested, bizarrely, and thus, Dave the unicorn was born.

Dave isn't too bright, or perhaps he just has some very un-unicorn-like ideas. In the economic slump hitting the kingdom, he decided he ought to get a job, but nobody really wants to hire a unicorn blacksmith (this being his chosen profession) since they aren't very good at wielding the tools. Therefore, Dave has to run a dodgy, backwater blacksmith's shop. It's not very popular yet, but he's sure that as soon as everyone finds out about it, the crowds will flock.

Either that, or he's a pacifist and is going about ending war in the least efficient manner possible.

Reminds me of how fucked up my relationships have been so far heh, seems like I'm always attracted to girls that I know will be trouble. It's like an attraction to drama, but i like it, idk it's fucking weird.

some info on the WIP

i made a helmet base in 3DS max, then painted on top in Photoshop, the texture work, lighting and details is painted in PS, Face is painted too.
Work time was about 4 days, dont remember how many H.
3D base saved time tho.

Lately i've been trying to improve my environmental backgrounds.

I was browsing through the references and noticed all the wild west backgrounds were kinda all rustic colour schemes so i tried to put a alot of blue and green in for some diversity.

99 Red Balloons

This is actually an idea that I attempted two years ago, but at the time I didn't have the skills to finish it satisfactorily. I spent something like 10 hours on the first version before giving up . ...but I thought I'd have another go at the concept for my Digital Image Design class (the same class I did Tron: The Virus and My Universe for). It's a fantastic feeling to have finally finished this.

As part of the course, we were asked to try as many techniques as we could. I ended up using a bit of photography for the buildings, with heavy repainting. The people in the city must have thought I was such a tourist running around taking photos of buildings! The rest of the picture is all CG painted in my normal technique.

^_< ...and before you ask, yes, there are 99 red balloons.

The wait for Portal 2 was SO worth it! Portal is one of... maybe three?... games where if you play it and don't like it, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to help you. (The others are Okami and Phoenix Wright. )

I referenced GLaDOS from the in-game scene, but I still have no idea how to draw her at all. I also don't know what aiming the portal gun at her is supposed to do, but I failed at too many action running poses.

Finally I painted something new!
And I'm finally proud with what I've done

I just was so pissed that day so I just didn't cared about details and it turned just the right way O.o All my characters before were lifeless and had rubber skin... All because of my stubbornness and wish to make a perfectly smooth colours... I'll never do that again!

So for all who have problems with their paintings and are stuck... relax and stop caring! That's what my art teacher used to say but I wasn't listening x_x

I know, it's hard to believe. Two submissions in one week, I'm setting personal records here!

I have been working on this on and off for quite a while now. To be honest, I'm still not entirely happy with it, but I think I have to call it done. Sometimes working too much on something just leads nowhere. And this bugger has changed a LOT since the initial sketch. Still, I'm overall quite happy and it feels good to finally have realized one of my dozens of ship sketches as a painting. More may follow...

Paderne castle

"Located in the left bank of Paderne river stream, Paderne castle was built in the 12th century, during the last phase of Muslim occupation. It played a major role in defending the passage between Barrocal region and the coastline. The castle was conquered to the Moors in 1248 by D. Paio Peres de Correia, Master of the Order of Santiago. Despite not being well preserved, Paderne castle is a good example of military architecture in rammed earth, typical of Almohad ruling. The squared-planed prominent tower is also representative of that period."

My brain shut down again today.
The gray synapses snapped, misfiring, leading me astray.
I had forgotten where I was going or why.
I was lost and alone amidst nowhere.
As I looked up, the buildings swayed in my eyes, encircling me in their psychotic dance. Was their dance real or a creation of my mind, much like the city around it, in ruin?
Smoke and shadows played tricks on my eyes.
It was as if the dark clouds formed a black hole in the center of the sky, eating away the earth, piece by piece. Twisted and torn metal, broken and cracked stone, shattered and snapped overhead in a rocking avalanche, that was slowly coming down, constantly rambling overhead.
Up was down and down was up.
To the vision of a broken mind, the world is a playground, full of things to confuse and betray its frail existence. I must have been walking for hours...
It was nearly dark as I entered the ruins of once metropolical center. No breath or whisper, but my own. Only the crackling, blazing skies, as if legions of hell themselves marched from the earth towards the heavens, fiery ash fluttering down from their feet.
Walking over the shards of blades, where have we gone so blind?
There are no nations now.
There are no wars.
There are no languages, but thoughts.
Simplest urges and desires.
They were advancing.
I shouldn’t be here.
Wake up, wake up.

EDIT Fixed up the problem that most of you seemed to have - the full image wouldn't load. i don't know why, but i resubmitted it and now it seems to work...???
also the quality of the image seems to have deteriorated in the sending. is there anything i can do about this???

i don't know what got me onto the theme of like....death, but i liked the idea of this...abit of a challange.
obviously she's not literally burried at the base of some steps under some pipes. it's just all abit symbolistic, make your own meaning out of it, ok. (ie: don't ask...i don't really know) XD

i would have liked to go alittle more detailed with it, but it started to bore me alittle n__n;;

So I'm pretty elated with the way this turned out.
Though I'm sort of considering doing a play-by-play or a tutorial sometime, just to show you guys how badly my stuff sucks in the first like, 6 hours of making it. I almost gave up on this one about a thousand times over the past few days.
But thankfully I didn't and -- damnit my neck hurts now. x.x;

Added the 30STM symbols for the heck of it, cause the corners were all dark enough that it would look cool.
And they're fun to draw.
