macro flash tube prototype

this ugly beast is the second prototype of my macro flash tube
an extendable, adjustable all-mirrored cardboard construction guiding the light from the hotshoed flash close to the target through a diffuser
it can be folded flat for transport within seconds

i still have to make some adjustments, like cutting the end piece slanted to light more from the side, curving the diffuser inwards to concentrate the light more into the middle, and making it matte black of course
and i need a longer macro lenshood

but the principle is sound and lets me shoot extreme macros at high apertures with my inverted lens macro setup

Back from Scotland with a chip full of unbelievable photos (at least for me). That country is so photogenic, even in the almost constant rain!

This one was taken at the harbour of Portree on the Isle of Sky, when some Japanese tourists amused themselves by feeding the seagulls.

Another shot from my Badlands trip. I really liked the valley down below and how it flowed. It seemed to me that it was like one of the water channels seen on the moon.

Anyway--I didn't let the exposure run as long as I should have so I had to lighten the bottom area a bit.

I wasn't feeling particularly creative when I titled this shot so I fell back to stealing Star Trek movie titles It seems to fit though

i had an assignment at the oktoberfest this year. my client wants to keep things unpublished at the moment - but i can still show selected photographs in my portfolio.

i was shooting at a sunday night, a whole monday and tuesday till the afternoon.

i took this at the first evening. i saw him sitting alone with his beer - the tent was about to close.

i took a sit in front of him, smiled, he smiled back and i took the photo - and left again.

as it's part of a whole series, i wouldn't put it as a spontanious portrait. i was commissioned to do documentary - so i didn't have much time to spend with each scene i saw, there are too many.

one of the most exhausting commissions i had lately - but worth the stress.

Here's a steampunk drawing I've just finished - note that his hair is more cybergoth than steampunk, but there's a fusion of the two wide-ranging styles overall. I personally love the look. The model is Anachronaut.
