I am just now realizing that I can post some of the work I've done for, well, work- what a novel idea.

I've been working on and off Kinectimals since its pre-Kinect days as "Zoo Live," so I have a lot of art lying around that I'll try to post. This was the expression sheet for the tiger cub, trying to explore how much we could use emotions to drive a player's actions in lieu of blatant on-screen instructions.

God help me, I still love that giggly little tiger at the bottom.

My pin-up piece for the next Girls Drawing Girls ( [link] ) book- we've got a plant theme this time around so I, a fan of conifers, grabbed the Douglas Fir.

I absolutely adore the National Park Service- Bryce Canyon specifically- so this project rapidly became an excuse to draw park rangers and the southwest. The choice to do it in the style of the inimitable WPA posters was an easy one- they're still some of the most compelling advertisements for the parks.

League of S.T.E.A.M. DVD cover

My buds over at The League of ST.E.A.M. commissioned me to design the cover for their upcoming webseries DVD and, seeing how they finally got around to announcing it, I can finally post it up here! good times.

I'm not usually one for doing portraiture- especially portraits of people I know and care about and don't want to insult- but it was worth it for this. I just gave them ALL SEXY FACE ALL THE TIME and it worked out perfectly. Sideways glances are a speciality of mine.

The Adventures of The League of S.T.E.A.M. - volume 1 DVD is going to debut at this year's San-Diego Comic-Con, booth #607. You can also see the League this weekend at the Labyrinth of Jareth masquerade in LA, and you can help fund a second season of the webseries over at Kickstarter! Go check it out.

Catapult Creature

This creature travels minimum in pair, often seen gathering in dozens, however it's not only for mating and companionship, but it is needed for survival. These quick moving creature are carnivores however have no mean of killing a prey alone, its hard outer shell provides basic defense against small predators as it hides cuddle into a ball.

When hunting for food, it travels in pair or group and catapult its partner to attack the prey, knocking the victim unconscious via multiple knock-out attacks. It then hurry to devour the victim while it's in the unconscious state. The creature only need to feast once or twice a month to survive. Each hunt for food often result in quite a number of casualty but because they always travel at least in pairs, the colony population multiply at extremely fast rate.

Dominace War Final Pose

Like I said, this year I decided to do the final pose in a different style, this been a style that I've been doing a lot for work and never really been used for and public work. I know most of you probably perfer the painted look, I just got a little tired of the painted look all the time and want to a somewhat cellcut style.

Anyways, this is 80% done for the final pose, I'll be adding moore detail design to the arm maybe and bg,etc. Just don't want to make it too busy.

Also added the tiny sword at the demon arm that's left from the dead hero which was used to seal the demon so the arm can never be reattached to the great demon,etc.
Just something small that I thought was fun~

Anyways I'll be working on the 3view ortho sheet first before coming back to this piece.

Any comment are always welcome, I do like to hear what people think of this style of coloring, it'll most likely cost me since i don't think any of the top 100 DW last year was cellshaded so ya... but still it was really fun! Thanks again everyone!

It's meant mainly to show how the arm and body balance each other out~

I was having a hard time deciding between the one dragging the arm from behind, and the mid right design from last batch of sketches (link)

Thanks for everyone's feedback, I really took it into consideration when deciding >.<

The arm dragging one would be fun but this sihoulette seems to work better for me and in terms of the overall design how it'd work attacking,etc. I decided to still go with this direction, made more changes and detail to push the design to be a tad unique hopefully.

Any feedback and crit and ideas to push this even crazier or unique would be great!

Dominance War - Sketch 1

Here goes, gonna work hard this long weekend (holiday in korea hehe) to bust this DW out!

A quick description, tho I was busy I've been trying to brainstorm the idea for the DW contest. Unlike last year, I have a pretty set direction I kinda want to go with.

It revolves around the 'severed arm of the lord'
Basically some battle long ago, the arm of the great demon lord was chopped off, while the foolish minion demon began to feast on it, little did it know that the blood of the demon lord is still boiling instead.

The concept are basically this giant arm that's attached to an abomination of demons. I don't want to go with the typical attachment where it's just one arm bigger,etc so the direction is that the arm will go somewhere ontop in an un-natural position.

Also not clear from the sketch, the body I'm thinking of going with a wierd combination of different demons, also the giant demon arm will have a lot more detail such as face,etc that might seem like it's eating the body,etc.

blah blah blah

Oh ya, this round DW I think I'll be going for a very different style in my finished piece, won't be the painterly look most likely, instead it's a bit more like this cellshading method I've recently been using a lot for the past year for conceptual work. Good time to test it out hehe.

One thing I'm horrible with is name, anyone can help me brainstorm some cool name for this demonic abomination？

This was done for a mini-promo comic for the first Arkham game... truth be told, I can't remember how it was given away... this was printed in full color, but the control-freak in me prefers to do these grey-scale pieces for the colorist, so the shadows can be closer to what I was thinking.

I am a lucky bastard, during the same time I got to design the Batmobile for Arkham Asylum(game), I also got to do one for DC's MMO ....for Akrham Asylum I wanted to do more of a 'monster-drag-racer-gas-guzzling-beast ', but for this one I was more inspired by European racing cars, specially some old school Ferraris.

Bladerunner: The Animation

This is a piece done just for fun. Of all the Harrison Ford movies my all time favorite has always been Deckard from Bladerunner. Bar none, some of the greatest visuals in any movie ever. I also love the idea of taking a movie, TV show, or book that would likely never be made into an animated series and reimagine it as if it were a cartoon. Whether it's Bladerunner, Goonies, Breakfast at Tiffany's or whatever, I love the cartoon look applied to a subject matter that normally looks serious and real.
I want to do a lot more of these from other movies, TV, or books and am open to suggestions so fire away and let me know what you'd like to see transformed into an animation. I'll pick a few and see what I can come up with!

Phenomenauts - Galaxy Detour

Hey! Big long comic post for you guys.

Rich Fogel (emmy award-winning animation writer and my friend Andrew's awesome dad) is working on a comic book for the sci-fi rockabilly band The Phenomenauts [link] , with a number of short stories written by him and illustrated by various artists. As I'm already a fan and a friend of the band, he was kind enough to ask me to contribute six pages.

I finished these up last year, but have been slow to post them for some inexplicable reason; I'm pretty damn happy with how they turned out as I rarely get a chance to do sequential work, so I'm glad Rich is giving us a chance to post our stories. If you like Rockabilly/Aztec/Tiki-inspired science fiction, then do enjoy.

Planet Hulk: Gladiators

Planet Hulk finally arrived in stores today and I had intended to do some new art to celebrate it's release, but current projects and impending deadlines have made that impossible... SO instead I will just post a few character line-ups with the promise of showing some more interesting stuff in the coming week.
I had a blast designing the characters for this movie, it was my second (of three consecutive) collaboration(s) with the brilliant and sublime director, Sam Liu, who's work you can see here:[link]
I also have to say, I could not have possibly designed this movie without the help of one of my most cherished and talented peers, Jerome K. Moore [link] who I am currently working with on our next kick ass project!
So many awesome people contributed to this project and when I have a minute I will dish on all the details, but for now I gotta leave you with a tiny morsel and get back to my desk!

Here is the size comparison model sheet for The Justice League, in Crisis on Two Earths. Designing these specific characters under Bruce Timm's critical eye was extremely challenging to say the least. If anyone knows how to bring these icons to life in animation, it's him, so when I finally got his blessing with these models I was relieved. I also took care to be as respectful as possible to the rich tradition and history of these characters, and to the legacy of the wonderful artists and writers who have made it possible for us to tell their stories, I did not want to take that responsibility lightly. This stuff is obviously not perfect, but I feel further blessed that EVERYONE involved on this project brought their best efforts to bear, and that the final result is a truly enjoyable movie.
Once again, I would not have been able to pull this job off without the support of my talented crew, and in this case, the beautiful ink cleanup of Dusty Abell.

Thought of Mr. Grayson as someone who's sort of a depressed and dark loner. He wouldn't be dark in terms of what he wears but mentally. To me he's at a stage some where in his mid to late 20's were he's already dealt with some pretty terrible hardships that continue make it's way in his daily , non crime fighting life. NightWing would be Dick's way of taking out all of his aggression..but on the killers and crooks. I thought that even though Grayson is trying to be his own hero, his outfit sort of show signs that his future has something even Darker waiting for him. This is my thought on the guy though....what do guys think?

I just thought that what if the T-cats show that we all know of today was based off of the real Thundercats from long ago. The original Thundercats.

Twas thinking that they were all leaders individually of some village and kingdom and came together only when they felt someone or something really needed them all. So the cool and collected fastest Cat alive Cheetarah, the Mix martial art Brute of a cat Panthro, quick tempered tactician Tigra, and all of the above Lion-o did there "hear the magic hear them roar" shit, won there battle and then went their separate ways. The end. No clue where the show came up with the other shit.

I wasn't really satisfied with my last Superman piece. Dude deserves better. I had fun with this one..but as mentioned in my journal...seems like a lot of my stuff is starting to look the same...same angle, same movement and etc. Oh well.

Ron Mars and I were working on a Lynch series for Wildstorm, but I was taking my sweet ass time getting it done and eventually it was canceled. I still learned a lot from the experience and it got me one step closer to actually finishing something.

back in like '01,'02 I was working on this Legends of the Dark Knight story that was canceled because they had canned the editor just after I started. They shelved everything he was involved with including me. That sucked, but that's how it goes sometimes. It would've taken me years to finish it. I was just hitting the uncompromising stage of my career. A stage I'm happy to say has passed. Thank God!

Anyway, this is the only page I have to show other than a bunch of layouts I aint posting. Sorry.
