Only thing I used from resources is background as texture.

Okami symbol is not original. I wanted for it to be on kanji, but since I didn't have on kanji, or a background circle with flames, i decided to imitate it. I hope this is not violateing rules of contest

Vintage Rainbow Brite Toy Bank Repainted

A good friend of mine gave me this adorable Rainbow Brite bank from 1983 that she had when she was little. The plastic bank was looking a little worse for wear and her eyes had falled off. So after some priming and a couple hours of painting and detailing, I made her better than she was before...stronger...faster...etc. This was my first time doing this sort of thing, so I'm glad it came out okay. She'll be displayed in my studio at the window.

*NOTE: I omitted the star on her cheek until such time as I feel comfortable painting it without making it look like crap, or I find a suitable decal.

UPDATE! Using some solid advice I got from folks here and on tumblr, I decided to throw caution to the wind and paint her cheek star. You can check it out here! Didn’t come out half bad and now she is complete. Thanks, gang!

Well, I posted in various places on Facebook asking people to come up with a word or a phrase no longer than 5 words that could be a narrative for an illustration. A lot of people commented (I have two pages of phrases!) and I thumbnailed some quick ideas based on the ones that really captured my imagination, then developed from there.
The title is the original phrase I based this painting on- actually, my mother came up with this one! Other phrases include; 'The moon shone brightly' and 'Whales swam above their heads'.
This painting will be for sale at London MCM comic con next weekend.

Micro Mammoth

Inspiration: Just the show title alone, gave me over a dozen ideas! Did I want to create something comic book related? Something Sci-Fi themed?

After multiple thumbnail ideas I decided on something that best fit the show. I spent a good 3 years attending the Art Institute of Seattle. During my stay I purchased a yearly pass to the Seattle Aquarium. I love aquariums in general and could spend hours staring at all the underwater life. As a matter of fact, I made it a habit to go to the Seattle Aquarium to practice sketching all types of fish, octopus, and sea otters. One day I lost track of time....the security guard did his final rounds and told me they've been closed for the past hour! I didn't even realize I was the only one left sitting there?! LOL.

Tornado in the Plains

A tornado touches down across the sandhills of Max, NE as the storm's mesocyclone churns eastward. This would be the first of at least a couple tornadoes of the day. If you look back in there to the left of the main tornado, you can see something else trying to touch down. Didn't see that at the time, but it appears there may be two tornadoes on the ground at once in this photo.

A Tornado off the coast of New Plymouth Taranaki, New Zealand.

We get alot of Tornado's in Taranaki or Tornado's just off the coast, we even now have a Tornado season haha. Which sounds weird but the Newspaper always mentions it.

Its not as powerful as it looks, you could get your boat right up next to it and it wouldn't do anything.

The Tornado is smaller than it looks because of the zoom.

My original Totoro sprite was good, but making it into a perler was a pain in the ass because he was so big. So, I resprited it into a smaller version of himself and he is cute!

NOTE: The bead art was not exact to the sprite, but it was so cute who cares. Mwahahahahaha!
