Here's my homage to all the great Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror movies of the 1950's I grew up watching as a kid on the late night picture shows, weekend film festivals & Creature Feature programs in the 1970's & 80's! This is actually a revisit to a piece I did almost 9 years ago or more now, that I was NEVER happy with...... it had been in the back of my mind for some time to go back and give it another shot. I'm SO much happier this time around, plus I got to add about 15 more things to the piece. You can find a key to all the characters here [link]

If I can get 25 people interested in buying a print of this piece i'd like to run off a very small number of movie poster sized 40" x 27" high quality prints produced using a full, 4 color offset process, on 100lbs. paper stock, with an Aquous base coating, definitely not run off on a laser jet or anything like that! Unffff!
This one took me ages to make!

Process?
made the sketch
cleaned the sketch
made a lineart in ink
errased the messy sketch lines
filled the lineart with another layer of ink
made certain lines thicker
started coloring with dry watercolor pencils
realised my mistake and changed the coloring method by adding water
realised yet another mistake and improved the coloring with TRIA-markers
strengthened certain lines with another layer of ink
scanned the drawing
hissed at the scanner for eating all the colors and making the lineart blurry and pale ANYWAY!
kicked the scanner
re-did the ENTIRE lineart in paint tool sai (with the help of my wonderful tablet, i love you)
improved the colors (more saturation, color deepen, contrast)
added more lines to "frame" certain shades (hard to explain)
added some effects (darkness from The Imprisoned, fire glow from the Scaldera boss, sky/grass/sand/water textures in the background)
added signature and watermark.....voilà. *died*

I think it will take a while before I make an artwork like this again. At least traditionally! It took me too long, and the result...is not quite good enough, judging from how damn long it took.

Anyways, I'm really sorry you guys for being so inactive lately, but I'm going through a tough mental time right now. Gotta find a job and so on... Quite a lot of pressure when you're scared of contacting people on your own. Especially if you have a strange phobia of talking on the phone... I hate phone calls. :sigh:

Flora - Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors

This is Flora and Oon from Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. Since Flora is a girl created from a flower, I used plant motifs such as petals, leafs and vines as design elements for her. I also went with very intense and vibrant colors for this piece to suggest colors of blooming flowers.

While searching for references on Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, I realized the vehicle concepts are simply cars with power tools strapped onto them... The Lightning League vehicle show here is "Drill Sergeant", a two-seater vehicle with a drill on top to dig tunnels. But do you know that drill tanks are an impossibility and in real life can turn into spinning coffins of deaths? Oh well...

it was fantastic to re-connect with the peanuts gang while watching "great pumpkin". i hadn't seen it in ages and it's refreshing to see that it retains the quirkiness, oddball characters and shulzian charm that make it so dear to so many folks.

New costume debut - Dragoncon 2011

This is a collaboration between Pit Viper Studios [link] and moi. I was approached by Len and Audrey several months ago with the idea of modeling a one-off set of Baroness armor for their prop studio as a way to promote their company and our mutual fandom love for GI Joe. I was honored to be considered! Since I had been planning on making Baroness at some point any way, it seemed like the perfect time to get to work.
Toby and Audrey sculpted the pieces, and Len, Kevin, John and the rest of the Pit Viper crew cast the amazing set of armor for me, made of fiberglass. It is surprisingly comfortable and sturdy to wear and I could move around easily. And it looks totally badass and protective!

I took on the responsibility to put the rest of the suit together. Looking at many many reference images of Anastasia ( and amongst others), I decided to put my own spin on her signature bodysuit. My goal was for it to be more than just a spandex bodysuit, so I designed a two piece suit featuring seaming details and quilted sides down the arms and legs, as well as scalloped three-piece sections of leg armor. The material is a rubber coated 4-way stretch spandex, which I chose because I wanted the gloss-coated armor to stand out from the matte-finish suit and contrast each other. I made a pattern for the bodysuit and sewed it from scratch. The wig is a pretty lace front that was sleek and not too long, since I didn't want to cover up the armor too much. The glasses were a surprising bitch to find lol. You can't walk into an Optic store and buy a set of rims, they'd have to do an exam and fit non-prescription lenses in. And I didn't want to have lens-less rims! So after much searching I got these at a Dollar Store.. in Montreal, Canada lol.
The weapons were so much fun to pose with. I borrowed a big ass gun from since she did Sweet Pea from Sucker Punch the day before. Thanks, babe! (We later on discovered that the scope is mounted backwards, oh well!) I had also brought a P-90 which would have looked cool but I couldn't carry more than 2 guns around. The hand gun is my Amber gun haha.

Honestly the only thing I'm somewhat missing is a belt. I debated for a while whether or not to have a belt because it will break up the stream-lined seams I so painstakingly put on the bodysuit.... then I got stuck in Germany for three days because of Hurricane Irene and lost that time to work on costumes for Dragoncon. So I said screw the belt. But after wearing the costume, I must say it would be nice to have someplace to put my room key/money/phone, so a belt will be made when I find the time!

Selina is such a iconic character and he captured her so well that I wanted to pay tribute.

I started with a base black latex suit and made the gloves with the claws, hood with the catears, and goggles. I tried to find as accurate as boots as I could, and ordered a leather whip as well.

In the future I definitely would like to do a rooftop shoot with this costume, gosh the possibilities are near endless!

Story: The former seaman Longren raises his daughter Assol alone after losing his beloved wife, making a meager living by selling the toy boats he carves from wood. As a child, Assol encounters an old man who claims to be a wizard and promises the girl that one day a prince will come on a ship with scarlet sails to carry her away. The villagers scoff but Assol believes her dream will come true one day.

Arthur Grey is a nobleman's son who breaks away from his cruel father to pursue a life at sea, and eventually becomes the captain of a merchant vessel. Having set to port at Assol's village, he spies the young maiden sleeping in the forest and falls in love. After inquiring in the village he learns of Assol's dream and sets about to make it come true.

But you cant complain, the Dark Elf Sorceress is so badass I even convinced a friend to pose with me.And then somehow convinced her to swim into rip tides for perfect shots and and..well... i was the only one who climbed the face of the cliff. Geeking out to a little Legend of Zelda! Always loved these games. This is a fanart for Ocarina of Time with a touch of Windwaker style thrown in. Been practicing my color and shading particularly, I think it's coming along pretty well. Although the temptation to make everything glowy is huge!

Also, kids should always play with sharp objects.

The Zelda Project is a Los Angeles, CA based group of friends who seek to bring to life the characters, settings, and overall feel of Ocarina of Time through photography and film. The boots, gloves, and belts are all real leather, which we will be distressing further in the future. The gloves are still in semi pristine order right now, because Link has just emerged from the Temple of Time in his new clothes! The sword and shield are made with a number of different materials including high density foam, fiberglass, and resin. We included with the shield some distressing, since he is able to use it as a kid, but we will embellish it further as time goes on! The tunic is made with rayon spandex jersey knit, and the underclothes are a combination of 100% linen and spandex ITY. I will be posting a more in depth "how it was made" on the website once all of the photos have been posted!

I am sort of enamored with the mystery of the Lost Woods. Since I played Link to the Past I have always had a special place in my heart for it. One of my favorite parts of the Ocarina of Time trading game was the part with the Mushroom, and Cucco Lady (Anju's) brother.

Anybody who comes into the forest will be lost.
Everybody will become a Stalfos.

So much can be imagined by this idea, and the idea behind the Lost Woods!

This cosplay photo was a huge combined group effort that was a labor of love by friends and fans of the Legend of Zelda series. Combining all aspects of art from photography to visual effects, we wanted to bring the Legend of Zelda to life as best we could in a final presentation. So far this has been incredibly rewarding, and we hope that those of you who view our work are brought a little bit more into the world of Hyrule through our art.

A special thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far! Without all of your support and kindness we wouldn't have been able to make this happen. We only hope that with what we produce, a smile is put on your face!

So this is Envy Adams' song (Metric's "Black Sheep")...

I wasn't 100% sure of HOW exactly to make it, weather to include the whole song or just some lyrics or just the chorus... For now, it's the whole song and the long "oooooo"...

I guess I pictured it in pink 'cause of the Vol 3 cover... And once again, the drawing is Bryan Lee O'Malley's (Featured in Vol 3!)
