This is Moth, a childlike folk figure from a project I'm working on. She's not a goddess, more like a Paul Bunyan / Santa Clause character. In the mythology, she causes the leaves to turn colors in fall.

I watch a lot of art blogs, and two artists that I really admire did these coloring book pieces where you take a coloring book picture and color it like a classical painting. The artists are Ryan Wood and Sam Neilson. (click their names to see their pieces)

I realized recently than I never did any decent painting for Beauty and the Beast, even though it's my favorite Disney movie. And since I really like the blue and pink colors in the west wing scene I went for that.
My original sketch was inspired by a screenshot of that scene, and I used another still from the prologue to reproduce the rose stained glass.

This has been in my sketchbook for ever. I knew exactly how to colour it, but somehow, didn't want to.. dunno why. Anyway, it turned out just like I wanted it, so I'm VERY happy with this one. Very Very Very Very happy. And these feathers (yup, it's feathers) took me forever. Damn them! But they were actually the only reason I drew this picture (except that it is for the challenge). Wanted to try the feather style ^^.

So, this is no. 071. for the challenge. obsession. hm... this woman CLEARLY has an obsession with feathers. As it is hopefully clear enough, she even has them on her dress (kinda peacock-ishy, though. i looooove her dress. want it) .. and this huge featherboa. she has issues. well.. she's supposed to be extremely rich and kinda 40 (but since she is so rich she has botox everywhere... crazy bat) and too much time. so she spends her money on.. FEATHERS.

btw, i FINALLY fixed the stupid resizing problem! YES.

Probably the most expensive item in my collection at this time.

This is an actual, honest-to-God production cel used in the filming of Disney's Peter Pan (1953) of a red-headed mermaid splashing a shell-wielding Wendy on a rock.

The inset is a handwritten cel identification number, I believe. C-43. I don't remember the scene and sequence (I have it on a CoA around my closet someplace) but on the DVD it is Chapter 15, timeframe 38:03:22 or so (that's minutes, seconds, frames.) The photo doesn't neccessarily do the cel justice, of course. It is pristine and I'm doing my best to keep it in a safe place. (No it is not for sale! Not unless I can afford another one from selling it. )

I'm posting this mostly because I'm trying to think of the best way to come up with a background for it before framing. How do people often display these works of lost animation art? Is a background even appropriate, or is it better to display the cel just as is? Anyone know? Please comment!

This is normally how i start one of my girl drawings, with a rough sketch of her body then work ontop of that to define her.
As you can see my girls come in all shapes and sizes.
