I painted something for EOW again because I really enjoy working to a topic brief, usually sparks my inspiration.

I realized that it helps to visualize an image in your head really clearly before you put it down.
Lately I haven't done that which is why my last works seemed to look uninspired/aimless.
For this image, I felt a lot more concentration and focus, it was also an ease to paint this. Like I only had to paint what I saw with my inner eye. For a change, it actually almost felt like I knew what I was doing lol.
It is also always good to look at photos of unknown subject matter and internalize/digest, then recreate it. Plus, filling in the empty gaps in your head for stuff you can't picture internally yet. For this, I didn't really have to look up anything though, pretty much from imagination. Painting snow and ice seams pretty straight forward, just keep in mind bounce lights and subsurface scattering. ^^

Why am I ranting? Maybe just emphasizing that visualization is a strong helper in being able to convey a certain atmosphere in an image. Trying to 'see' the image as clearly as possible in your head before painting it. And also, holding on to an inspired idea and 'working' on it in your head beforehand, especially regarding mood and colors.
Seriously, close your eyes, dream the scene, be the explorer that walks the massive ice dungeons.
I think I will take some meditation classes...

The Legend of the Jack O'Lantern tells about the eternal Irish wanderer who wasn't let to the Heaven neither to Hell. He is traveling through the world in the search of Redemption.
This is his visit to America on all Hallows Eve, on this place and time the Hell is closest to our world.

Done in photoshop cs5, trying not to spend too much time on details. I enjoyed painting this, my first personal work after long time so I wish you could enjoy it also.

My goodness things have been busy lately but I love Trigun so I did what I could to get a fanart for it done in time for AX. This way I could meet other fans of the series! LOL. Hope to see some of you in theaters for the upcoming movie... (go support the industry guys ) [link]

A recon team touch down amidst fire and death, the aftermath of a huge battle between military forces and giant machines. Once landed one of the recon team spots a marine trying to support themselves with their rifle, she recognizes the marines armour, and a band around his arm, the same as her lovers. She bolts out of the dropship another team member shouts and tries to grab her but she's already just out of reach. The area is like an inferno, and some of the machines could still be active, despite the dangers she runs through it all.

My piece for the new exhibit from the Luminarium dedicated to a man who has given us so much and has enabled The Luminarium to get so far, David Bixler, who was seriously injured serving his country in Afghanistan. This is a tribute to him and the many like him who serve their country with honour, courage and bravery in the face of many dangers.

Done for the band Braquage a new electronic/industrial band, they have some great music and I was able to work closely with the 2 guys on creating their costume. I designed the face masks they wear and painted this scene to go with one of their tracks and the story that surrounds the music.
They also go by their company name Fighthaard which is also a kind of group or a way of life.
Their site has just gone active along with more of their track, take a listen by wither visiting their site or myspace page.

Realm of Dreams

In dreams anything is possible, what appears to be so real and natural in a dream seems so surreal and unnatural in the real world. A lone dreamer stares up at a huge winged giant carrying a giant artefact on his shoulders which is attached to him with huge golden chains, a beam of light guides the giant and his burden to their destination, but what destination? And what purpose does this giant structure serve in this dreamscape? As the giant walks it creates ripples of the environments surface, like standing on water, the ripples glow a fantastic cyan and emit strange glowing particles. The dreamer looks down to see the same effect where they are standing. This all feels so right, no fear, no shock just comfort, a sense that all is well. This land is perfect. This land is home.

My entry to the CGSociety challenge themed Dreamscape, the past few challenges I haven't really been interested in, the last one I entered was Secret Agent which I had great fun participating in.
This time I threw myself even further out of my comfort zone and painted something very different from my usual stuff but I have really enjoyed it. Inspired by Greek, Aztec, and Roman statues and myths I combined an odd giant similar to Atlas, only winged and carrying a huge golden structure coated with Aztec decorations. An odd sight yet this is a Dream. The POV is also an odd one, its looking up as though through water, you can see the "surface" as the giant steps onto it, as well as the dreamer. I got this idea of a solid water surface after watching Final Fantasy Spirits Within a while ago.

Lots of great images being done for the contest so far, I'd be happy if it just gets into the runner up section hehe.

The giant claw like thing is called the Red Hand and is some kind of huge machine, the image is seen as a reflection on the viewers eye as they witness this nasty event of the sun swelling in size and the Red Hand up to no good.

When I was young I used to watch the Monkey King China TV Series. That story is very interesting to me and after school I would rush back home to see it. My friends and family also follow the series. In between the Journey to the West I will see many monsters who obstruct all the time. I enjoy watching monsters and new events.
Personality I think the Monkey King is a symbol of strength and honesty. Although he is very mischievous, he always helps the friends and people he cares about.
