Well, this was fun to draw.
A much needed redesign has been made -- a year after the original.
I'm fairly certain that I've made this piece in the same amount of time, and this one looks significantly less like a hybrid sniper/medic/house. I also have a basic backstory for him which is unimportant at the moment, but I'll put it here if anybody is interested.

yes, this is a poorly edited picture of myself. An inherent problem in using a grayscale skin tone is that it makes you look like a goth wearing makeup. Oh well.

honestly I made this in around 15 minutes though on my grandmother's laptop, so don't rave over the lower quality than usual.

Jim Carrey Portrait Final

So here it is, my completed portrait of Jim Carrey from the Bruce Almighty poster. This took me two or three weeks total to complete, if you're wondering.

I actually finished this a week ago I just needed to plug in my iphone and touch it up a bit. If I ever find the charger for my 12MP digital camera, I'll take a better picture!

It took me long enough, but I finally optimized this image enough to be under 100kb. That means that if your ipod touch or iphone (up to 3GS) is jailbroken properly, you could set this to display whenever you power it on from being shut down.

Not that anyone but myself would use it, of course.

Not really that important, but I downloaded paint tool sai and wanted to test it out, so I grabbed some tools and scribbled down a fluttershy. I couldn't get eyes right, so I did this and added a creepy smile and color effects.

this story will make sense at some point, right now I'm just creating the fundamentals and making connections.

TRIVIA
● This is the first drawing I've completed in over two years of more than a single character. And this is the first one ever of two characters interacting
● This was uploaded a week late due to an illness
● Since "Team of One", each new drawing has had at least one added 3D effect (e.g. ambient occlusion, albedo shading, etc.). This one has ambient occlusion and has properly added reflections.
● The Man Made of gold has gotten taller and slightly older since his last picture.
● The Melon Prince of Gold's melon staff now has grooves in the design, as well as a blade at the top.
● This image was designed to work on any background
● The image originally had melons flying about, but I didn't want to take the glory away from tmmog.

The Melon Prince of Gold

And I finally finish what was originally intended to be a Halloween picture. Yeah, that's right.
it was going to be him appearing in a bolt of lighting with purple and stuff. I was even going to throw in a melon jack-o-lantern.
This is actually my largest submission (in size) yet!
Thankfully, I didn't finish it in time. Here you go!

Facts:

The Melon Prince of Gold is the least well-known Norse god. He is the master of trans-dimensional travel and melon control.

He appears in a bolt of lighting that goes from the ground up, and when he arrives several melons general manifest themselves around his feet.
His coconut bra symbolizes irony due to the fact that he only possesses literal melons.
Him and the man made of gold are simply the same person from different dimensions.

There's a story behind this, actually.

I'm in my school's VEX Robotics program (ironically, I never want to actually build the robots). I'm doing promotion and graphics.

They put me on a computer 2 weeks ago and said "make us a logo"

I was originally going to make a simple black widow, but then I decided to add a trollface as a placeholder head.

Some people started hating on it, but then they gave in and started to love it

thus, I finished the image and ended up with this [link]

then I told someone of my tremendous success after robotics, and they said the best format for a logo is SVG (scalable vector graphics).

So I cracked out Inkscape and made this

hurray.

so today I slammed some more of my gimp knowledge into an image. I'll be using it as my deviantID, hopefully.
Every icon except for the windows icon was taken from this, having two effects applied to them afterwards.

As well as that, I also used the font "TF2 Build", which valve kindly lets you use for free.

this is more of an art milestone for myself, as I'm being self-taught on how to do environmental lighting, or light based on surroundings as well as the main light source.

This design went through several iterations, the first being the completed image with all of Aaron's normal colors. However, his normal colors didn't conform to the full spectrum of light, and I therefore had to adjust it to cover all the colors and be more realistic.

Then I just added as many effects in every appropriate place.

Revamped TF2 Logo

so I decided to watch some videos from the 90's (while tf2 was still in early productions), and I found this old logo [link]

I found it fascinating (although not the "brotherhood of arms" part), and decided to remake it in higher quality.

admittedly I could have put more detail into making the logo look "dirty" (not in that sense!)

okay no I wasn't, I did it voluntarily.

so the guy who made Fluttershy Goes to Hell (awesome fanfic, btw) offered to have my OC pony make a cameo appearence in another fanfic of his. So I made Fantastic Offer, a smooth talking salespony.

Originally it was going to reflect me directly, but then again, Aaron isn't exaclty a very pony name.

I was tempted not to upload this, but frankly, I don't have a reason not to.

three nights ago I read Fluttershy Goes to Hell by Present Perfect. It was awesome, creepy, and very emotional.

The picture for it was unrelated, however, so I thought a relevant one was in order.

The main cave area was almost entirely from the show itself, just with a bunch of edits and tweaks done by me.

originally he had one more frame in each walk cycle that made him appear to march more, but in the end I deleted them and went with this.

Sadly, slowing it down makes it appear unrealisticly choppy, so you'll have to settle with powerwalking Aaron for now

I made this by taking the original Michael Jackson's Moonwalker sprites, scaling them down to a good size, replacing the colors with the appropriate mario ones, and adding an off-colored mario head.

then, of course, I had to piece it together as such to look around and look natural.

the original sprites for both moonwalker and super mario bros. are not owned by me. However, this mishmash of editing and animating is.

Use it as you please, but try to give credit.

also, I promise there are bigger things to come.

Team Fortress 2 Time!

I was inspired to make Aaron into a TF2 picture a few days ago, and it's finally come into fruition!

At first I was going to make him a soldier carrying a rocket launcher before I realized "hey, I hate playing as soldier!".

And so I made him into a Pyro.

This is my first piece of digital art made in an effort to promote realism and remove cartoonish outlines.

I'll explain my process.

First, I drew a basic outline.

Then I made a new layer and made the shape of the body and limbs in a different color.

Next I made a new layer and added in the weapon and clothing in a different color than the first two.

Fourthly, I made the other layers mostly transparent and made a new, final outline in semitransparent black on top of them all.

Afterwards, I added all the colors in individual layers below the outline.

Then I did the outline-like shading with the light source being the top left of the image.

I then duplicated the layer and blurred it, making a realistic shadow.

I repeated the above processes, except with a lighter shadow.

I repeated it yet again for the highlights.

I then added in the flame by making a basic shape out of yellow, followed by red for the random dark parts within the yellow outline

Next I repeated the blurring process of the shading on the fire shading

I then added highlights in the center of the yellow spaces and combined the layers.

Following this, I copied the layer and made a new one below it. I pasted the fire and instead colored it bright yellow. Then I blurred that by a massive amount.

Then I did the same steps for shading but instead with the light source being the fire (and I made the highlights and shadows more intense as well).

Finally, I added in the finishing touches by putting plasma filters of different turbulences and colors in several layers and layer effects. I added in shadows and highlights on the ground with the shading effects I normally use, and I added a wood textured frame with an inner drop shadow. Then I put some grain over the whole thing and called it a day.
