Scott's a gifted actor and comedian, but his secret superpower lies in the art of Improv. I thought he'd be a great onstage wingman for Allison (the auction runs 3-5 hours!), and in return I promised him whatever he wanted in one of his fantastic LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN sketchbooks. He has a Mike Mignola Mr. Hyde (I'm so jealous)!<br /><br />Scott ran several ideas by me, and this is the one I picked. Who doesn't love Victorians writhing about in sin! My big regret? Allan's left hand is probably the best hand I've ever, ever drawn, and it's knuckles-deep in a Victorian music-teacher. Not really something you can show the kids.<br /><br />Anyoo... thank you, Scott Adsit, for being a super guy and a great pal! If you&#039;ve only seen the film PLEASE read the comic, available in trade paperback form. One of the last painted covers I did before going to digital colors.<br /><br />It&#039;s probably 15" X 25", water-based mixed media on illustration board.<br /><br />It was a rush job; Wildstorm called me up on a Friday and needed it on a Monday, so I did this one in a 48-hour marathon I think, no sleep whatsoever.  I hate those.<br /><br />The original cover artist disappeared, so I was asked to do the covers for issues 2-4.  He had started the miniseries with an Art Nouveau design for the first issue cover, which is probably why WS called me to help out. I love Art Nouveau, I love the poster art of Alphonse Mucha, and my DNA has "Star Wars" written on it.<br /><br />One of the MAIN reasons I did this, however, was timing.  C4 was the big 30th anniversary convention for SW, and I guessed that a lotof the other invited artists would do Episode 4 prints, especially the very popular "Big Head Montage".  I wanted to steer as far clear of that as possible, then.<br /><br />I also came home with leftover Han Solo prints I did for C3 the year before, and I learned my lesson.  I promised myself: "If this happens again, I&#039;m gonna do chicks or stormtroopers".  Slave Leia is one of the major signposts of the cultural landscape that is the affect of Star Wars on popular culture, so..... there you go.<br /><br />This is one of the few pieces of mine that I have framed and hanging in my home.
