TZP: Link Rides Epona Into the Sunset

Spending time at the ranch was always a welcome distraction from reality. However, he had a duty to find the Princess and liberate the people of Hyrule. As the sun dipped below the mountains, Link lead Epona away with heavy heart, his sights set on Death Mountain.

This photo was meant to be the last in the set, but unfortunately the final two that were supposed to go before this one are not ready. I didn't want to be late again for you guys, so I just posted this. Sorry they're out of order guys. Expect to see more Link riding Epona in future shoots!

The background is a beautiful digital matte painting by Mickael Forrett. Also, to answer the popular question about horse makeup: We painted Big John's legs and tail and ears to have black on them because his coloration wasn't like that. We used horse show touch-up which many people use in horse shows to hide things like scars and imperfections on their horses. Think of it kinda like spray in hair color for humans, but it's made for horses.

TZP: Malon Singing

It was rare that Malon had the time to ride anymore, but with Mr. Ingo back to normal, she was able to break away. Out here, she could truly feel free. With her steed wandering a few feet away, she began to pick her way through the flowers. It wasn't long before a song found its way out of her. This was the best place to sing, because here she could be anything she imagined. The wind picked up, unsettling the grass and carrying her melody far across the field.

I really wanted this one to be a nighttime picture. Several of us tried with it, but the lighting on the original picture just wasn't fit for Date-To-Night conversion. Night photography was not an option, since we did not have the location available at night. So we had to settle for a daytime joyride, which I think is just as nice! Hope you guys like it!

TZP: Link and Malon observe Death Mountain

From where they stood on the edge of the Lon Lon Plateau, they could see the vast rolling hills of Hyrule field, and the distant Kakariko mountain range. Malon gasped when she saw where he was pointing. She couldn't imagine even scaling a mountain that tall, let alone a volcano that had been precariously active for years. When her father returned from Kakariko, he had mentioned that the locals were convinced it would erupt any day now. Yet Link intended to climb to its summit, and descend inside of it!

The concept of Link pointing out where he would go next to Malon... the summit of Death Mountain... was something I was so excited to do. It was a heavy task for Mickael to undertake, but when he was finished the result was breathtaking. It's very hard to depict the ring of cloud that circulates around the top of Death Mountain, but I think he achieved the realism quite well. We spent weeks looking at clouds and examples of how they could appear in strange shapes in reality before we settled upon this. I hope you guys love it!

Oh man. You know you've done it! Everyone's done it! Harassed that group of cuccos at Lon Lon Ranch and then jumped onto Epona's back and rode around in circles while they chase you but can't catch you. So funny. I had to put something like this in because it's too great to pass up.

The boots, gloves, and belts are all real leather. The sword and shield are made with a number of different materials including high density foam, fiberglass, and resin. The matte painting of the ranch was a beautiful job done by Mickael Forrett to bring Lon Lon into reality. Epona also is wearing make-up. Big John didn't have the dark spots on his legs, so we painted them with horse show touch up paint to give his legs that gradient effect. Stay tuned for our BTS video for more about the ranch shoot!

Lon Lon Ranch was my favorite place to go when I played Ocarina of Time. Throughout the years as the game held up to it's replay value, it still was where I liked to take Link to hang around. Something about it held a really warm and special place in my heart, and I imagined that despite it's isolation, it's central location in Hyrule Field made it a perfect place for Link to stop and eat, hang out, and sleep in a cozy bed.

Malon Singing

Malon singing to an audience of stars, pretending that she is performing on a great stage.

So this originally was a sketch of an original character of mine, but I was in a really Malon-y mood, so I turned it into Malon instead. I spent about 3 hours on the sketch, and then on my last save I went to create it into a jpg to throw into scraps here on DA and my photoshop/hard drive simultaneously exploded, corrupting my PSD file and the jpg I was saving. I managed to take a cell phone photo of the frozen computer screen before it went black. Thus, this is my second attempt at this picture, traced at an awkward angle from the cell phone photo. Hands look funky. The original sketch had them much better, and the proportions were much better in the original sketch too. I wasn't too good at compensating for the awkward angle of the cell phone photo.

Anyway, this is a WIP I'm working on inspired from both the upcoming Zelda Project photoshoot with Malon, Talon, Ingo, Link and Epona, but also I'll finally be releasing Chapter 1 to my Advent of Darkness Fan Fic READ HERE: [link] and this is a scene in it.

I'll color it eventually. I'm just really pants at coloring so it may take me a while to muster the courage to try and color.

**EDIT** A couple of you have expressed interest in coloring this. Be my guest! I uploaded the full size image so that you can click "download" and it'll give you the large scale lines. They're sloppy, but it's the best I can do

Zelda Collab: MaLink Horseback

This one has been a long time in the making. I'm pretty awful when it comes to coloring, but I suppose I'm not too bad at my lineart. *AlineMendes and I decided it would be fun to do a collaboration. She's great at coloring and really feels happiness and inspiration while doing it, and I feel that way about drawing but I become frustrated when trying to color. thus, this collab was born!

We wanted to do something Zelda oriented, so we picked this one. The lines for the horse, Malon, and Link were done by me, and the Stalfos and coloring were done by her. The Master Sword was also done by her, because all I left her as a guideline was a little ball and a triangle for a blade. LOL!

There wasn't too much thought behind why this scene is actually taking place. I just sort of started drawing the two of them on Epona and we figured a big poe would work out fine, since the sun has set, and Aline wanted to draw stalfos, so she added them too! Done! haha!

Perhaps you creative people out there could come up with a backstory for this pic? Since I'm tapped out at the moment

TZP: Saria The Sage of Forest

This place will be very important for both of us someday.

This is our last photo in our Lost Woods series of pictures. We plan on doing more next year, with perhaps an entire cast of youngsters as the Kokiri and maybe even young Link! Due to this being our first photoshoot, there were a lot of mishaps that we didn't take into account. The biggest problem being that the ears were very heavy for the models, so they could only wear them for a few hours before they became uncomfortable and we had to take them off.

This caused us to pass up getting a lot of shots that we really wanted to get, such as the tunnel trees (they had them there! LOOK: [link]) and a series of cute interactive shots of Link and Saria. We especially wanted a shot of Link with Saria on his shoulder, but we had to shoot at a different location on our first day since our prime location was unbearably crowded, and on our second day the sun and fog were working against the lighting for the photographer, and the ears became uncomfortable so we had to wrap early.

There were not a lot of photos that we shot of Alondra smiling that turned out due to the problems with the lighting. So we wanted to include this one as our last shot. This was her first time modeling, and the only experiences she has had with photoshoots were with her mother and watching us model for Lillyxandra's Firefly Path. She did a fantastic job overcoming her shyness, and she really turned out to be a super star!

Much love to everyone who has liked this series. We hope to push the limits even further with our next shoot: The Gerudo Valley.

The Fairy Ocarina is made by Ben Wallace out of high density foam and painted to look like it was sanded down wood. We figured that these little immortal children would have put great care in their pretty wooden instruments, so we wanted it to look smooth and polished as if it had been used for years and years.

The gloves are still in semi pristine order right now, because Link has just emerged from the Temple of Time in his new clothes! The sword and shield are made with a number of different materials including high density foam, fiberglass, and resin. We included with the shield some distressing, since he is able to use it as a kid, but we will embellish it further as time goes on! The tunic is made with rayon spandex jersey knit, and the underclothes are a combination of 100% linen and spandex ITY. I will be posting a more in depth "how it was made" on the website once all of the photos have been posted!

TZP: Listen to the Trees

The singing of the trees was the first thing she ever remembered hearing. Their voices rose in unison as she climbed higher and higher into their branches, serenading her with a melody that she eventually learned to play for her fellow Kokiri.

I always thought it was sad that Saria could not grow up, nor die, and that Link would someday pass away. This scene of Saria and Link playing the Ocarina never happened in the game, but it was something we wanted so badly to include! We ran out of time on this shoot to get all the interactive photos that we wanted, but what we did get we thought you all would love! A very sweet scene of childhood friends taking a moment to enjoy each other's company.

Zelda: Marin by the Beach

This is NOT part of The Zelda Project This is just a Zelda costume of mine that for some reason I never uploaded here.

In wake of my recent influx of Zelda stuff, I thought I'd pop some oldschool cosplay into my gallery just for fun. Marin is one of my favorite characters, and this was the fourth costume that I ever made. Needless to say, the sewing quality of it is less than stellar, but it was still made with the love and inspiration of a fan who grew up playing the game and imagining what her little sprite must have looked like as a real person.

Toronbo Shores was a favorite place for her to go, where she could simply sit and play her harp, watching the waves roll in and out freely. Marin dreamed of becoming a seagull (it seems romantic but those birds are such beach pigeon scavengers!) so that she could fly away.

I am sort of enamored with the mystery of the Lost Woods. Since I played Link to the Past I have always had a special place in my heart for it. One of my favorite parts of the Ocarina of Time trading game was the part with the Mushroom, and Cucco Lady (Anju's) brother.

Anybody who comes into the forest will be lost.
Everybody will become a Stalfos.

So much can be imagined by this idea, and the idea behind the Lost Woods!

Hey Everyone!

Long time no upload!

I've been on cosplay hiatus for quite a long time, but now no longer! I'd like to show off a teaser picture from our photoshoot this past weekend of The Lost Woods!

The costume was quite a fun one to make, and rather easy, though time consuming because the model (Alondra) lived very far away from me so I had to mail her mockup samples of her costume for fittings, and adjust my patterns according to photographs her mother took of her!

Overall, I feel that the costume and the model in combination were breathtaking and truly captured the essence of Saria!

The turtleneck was a 100% wool 3x5 rib knit that I hand dyed to the perfect color, and the jumper was 100% cotton sweater knit with a small amount of lurex to give it a fairy-like glitter, also hand dyed to be a pretty kelly green color. Her wig is a cosworx rose wig in moss green, and her little boots are also made with the same rib knit as her turtle neck.

Much care and love went into this costume, so I hope you all enjoy!

The funniest thing about it was that this castle was closed (it closed at 6) but we couldn't read the sign so we had no idea that it closed at 6 when we left there earlier in the day so I could go change. When we got back though the gates were closed and here I was in this big ridiculous costume with a big gate in front of me.

But hell... I was Maria Renard. Did a gate keep her out of Castlevania? HELL NO. So we HOPPED that bloody gate and did our photoshoot guerilla photography style!

During our jaunt across Germany, we hosted a cosplay gathering in Dusseldorf which was massively fun and I got to meet a bunch of cool people. Well... I brought along Sheryl because its such an easy travel costume and comfortable. Likely one of my only costumes I can wear all day.

Unfortunately my awesome eyebrows during my previous wear of the costume could not be had in germany. I forgot my awesome pencil so I had to use lipliner ew~ So ... sorry about that! X_X;

Zelda: Remembering Estelle

Okay this is technically filed under "Zelda" because the character depicted here is one of my NPCs for our LoZ RP! *mandeh wanted me to draw him.

The girl is meant to look choppy and faded!~~

READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE COMMENTING!

The character's name is Shane, and he is a doctor from Flora Village, a nearby village to Ordon. The people of Ordona Province all dress this way, and Ordon Village is also not the only village in Ordona Province either.

Anyway Shane is 45 years old, and is the local doctor that gets called to all the northern villages. He is revered amongst the people as being this amazing doctor who can practically bring people back from the dead. The reason for this--that the people do not know about--is that he has healing abilities. Humans, being the primary people who live in this region, do not have the magical potential that those with Hylian blood have, and so he has always kept his talent a secret.

In the Zeldaverse it is said that Hylians are all magical in some way, but in Ocarina of Time we are not really given many glimpses of the average person utilizing it, or even showing any sort of knowledge of it. For this reason we invented a 'class' of people known as Seers. They are basically Hylians who have a better grasp of magic than the average person, usually along the lines of foresight/clairvoyance. They are not nearly what someone like a sage would have, or Princess Zelda's dreaming, but they are useful enough to be regarded by the King as his advisors. This was an Ocarina of Time RP creation of ours, but in this new setting we are playing in the time frame of Twilight Princess. Seers no longer "exist".. so when Shane realized he had the ability to heal he began to keep it a secret.

Now onto the girl! The girl's name is Estelle, and she was his childhood sweetheart and best friend. Shane loved her endlessly, and the two of them grew up together and planned on getting married when they came of age. When Shane was 17 and Estelle was 16, they were climbing trees to get a better look at the horizon and Estelle missed her footing and fell. She broke her neck, and while Shane attempted to use his meager healing talents on her, they were not enough and she died. From that day forward he practiced clandestinely, until they were strong enough to 'bring back from the dead' as some people put it.

Fun Fact 1: Shane was apprenticed under Doctor Borville in Hyrule Castletown, and when he completed his training he returned to Ordona Province, and still resides in Flora Village, his original home.

Fun Fact 2: Shane is deadly with a bō (which is why he's holding one in the pic!), and is unrivaled in the Verfete Festival bō tournament every year. Recently Link gave him a run for his money.

Fun Fact 3: Estelle was a very headstrong and sassy girl, and when Shane met Fern he saw a lot of Estelle within her.

Fun Fact 4: Shane is probably the most popular eligible bachelor among the middle-aged women in the region. He's tall, handsome, young looking for his age, and can lay down the beats with a bō. But it's a well known fact that he loved Estelle and probably still does, so he will most likely never marry. He has spent the remainder of his life dedicating himself to his practice, and his patients. Regardless of this, however, he is still considered a prize amongst spinsters and widows looking to marry or re-marry.

Personality: Jovial, Personable, Kind, Strong, Wise
Height: 190cm (6'3)-- Very tall for someone with Hylian blood!
Marital Status: Bachelor

He may look gruff in the picture, but he's really a nice guy and tends to try and find humor in most situations.

something like 25 hours in photoshop. Around 17 of them spent nonstop. Eeesh. I'm not an amazing artist but I really really tried on this one. Probably more than any other pic.

I'm just going to leave this one as it is because we all know I'm terrible at backgrounds and there's supposed to be a festival going on behind them but its a good 100 yards away and I just don't know how to color something like that yet with my mediocre skillz.

Backstory (YOU BETTER READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING or I have permission to RAZZ YOU!!!)

Link and Fern dancing

This festival is called Verfete and it is the Ordona Province's northern villages' (there are 6 of them in the north) -celebration of spring- festival. Verfete opens with a ribbon dance mostly like a maypole where the unmarried girls who are of age dance and wind a pattern around the pole with ribbons shaded in the colors of the goddesses. Sort of like an innocent catch-a-husband type deal, since the girls dress very pretty and the dance is witnessed by the entire festival since it is the opening ceremony so to speak. This year was Ilia's first year to dance, and since Fern is technically of age also, Ilia coerced her into doing it also. The dress Fern is wearing is very frilly because she nervously took part in the ribbon dance, and the dress was sewn by Ilia!

The six other villages from all around the north journey to Ordon Village and set up camp there, so it's basically like a mini city for two days with tons of tents and pavilions and events and tournaments and food and merchants and blah. At night they hold bonfires where people sing and they play drums and dance to folk songs etc.

This scene took place between Link and Fern, since he couldn't find Ilia and ended up running into Fern by the bonfire. Push came to shove, and he managed to convince her stubborn butt to dance, and the outcome was that Fern LAUGHED! Which is a feat in itself since she's getting over her dead lover and all. Fern is up in the air cuz it's supposed to be one of those medieval-ish dances where the male partner hoists the female partner briefly up into the air during their little jig.

*mandeh is Fern's owner. *mandeh requested I draw this scene. So consider it yet another spam of Fern love since I think she's a cool character.

About the art:

This was a scene from an RP, and if you have browsed my other deviations you've probably realized that I play as Link. ; Yes I'm a dork! So what :3 And what is Fern doing with TP Link when she's an OoT Character anyway? Well that's a long story.

We wanted to try to RP Twilight Princess, since we've all but destroyed the corpse of the Ocarina of Time dead horse that we were beating. She loved her OoT OC, so we devised a way for Mandy to play Fern in this new RP! Fern is a little risk taker, and finally ended up making a poor decision in a poor place, and that got her trapped in suspended animation until TP Link rolled up and found her.

TP Link and Fern don't have the best friendship, since she is akin to a hornets' nest that's just been shaken up and ready to sting the first thing that comes near it, and he's skittish around girls when they are ill tempered, thanks to Ilia.

This RP scene was Link's first real attempt at comforting Fern, since they were chatting, and something he said reminded Fern of the past, and mostly what she has lost. Basically everything she ever knew and loved is long dead and forgotten, so it was a sad scene. I wanted to draw it.

This is the best shot I had of my wig. I should have taken back shots but I suck :/!!! Anyway Sheryl Nome is awesome and rad! The wig is actually two toned but this is the best shot that shows it. I sewed in tons and tons of blond hair into the wig and it looks pretty cool directly from behind. I need to take some more photos. You can see SOME of the blond in the wig.. but not much at this angle.

Also boots are the wrong boots because ebay screwed me over. I ordered some nice boots 5 weeks in advance and they never sent them, even after 2 weeks of empty promises that they would 'overnight' them and 'expedite' them and blahblahblah. These ones I'm wearing are last minute. :/!! Gonna get some better ones now that I'm back from Japan.

Fern and Kamaro belong to *mandeh ... these two characters fight a ...LOT... I suppose that's what you get when you put a law abiding goody two-shoes magess up against a smack talking rogue! How they fell in love, one well never know. There doesn't seem to be much room for romance amidst Kamaro's taunting and Fern's furious nuking.

Kamaro is the lover of Fern, and the captain of the pirate ship The Rogue Wind. People have asked me repeatedly to finally offer a character sheet of him and not just all my half-ass sketches, so here it is!! This is also in preparation for the launch of *mandeh's and my doujinshi, Legend of Zelda: Advent of Darkness which will be illustrated by the wonderfully talented ~Daimomaru !

So here are Kamaro's specs everybody! ^^ give him some sexy love, for he is the sexy.

The Rogue Wind symbol you see on the back of his vest is based on the Din Pearl from Wind Waker, as well as a traditional cross rapiers symbolizing pirate.

The little Rogue Wind ship is a clip art that I altered the front of and added the symbol.

Someone commented that Kamaro looked like a spanish pirate, which made me giggle since it's kind of true. Although I was going for more of a gypsy look *_*!! Thanks for everyone's support!

MY SIGNATURE PATCH IS ON HIM TOO! XD lol... and I didn't feel like finishing his right hand. LaZyFaCe!

This is a contest prize for =Irulana

Solaris is a half-angel and Elion is a vampire (mostly..).

The title is meant to suggest that Elion is the dusk... a creature of night and darkness, and Solaris is the dawn.. a creature of morning and light. The two cannot exist without the other, light and dark... and so is the endless struggle of desire between Solaris and Elion.

Thanks to for coming up with a good pose. I drew this pic I swear like 8 times before she stepped in and smacked me.

XD!! Finally took pictures of this costume. It's been finished for months and months but I never had the opportunity to take pictures ^_^!! I wore this to the So-Cal cosplay gathering, and on the way home we drove past this field of yellow flowers and I squealed for Kyle to stop the car so that I could dash out of it and run up the field dramatic-Belle style. It was fun ^-^!!!

Cosmode 21: Alucard

This is not me in the costume!! This is a dude! (a pretty one... I'll give him that!)

I looove Alucard from Castlevania: SOTN. I think he's dead sexy. This is the Alucard costume that I made for my wonderful model Frenchy !!! (I did a much better job on his makeup this round, eh?!!! )

I've always wanted to tackle this costume, but I never had someone I felt fit the role of Alucard until I met him. Yaay! So anyway I made this costume last year and I was blessed to be featured in Cosmode Magazine (Issue 21). The magazine has just recently come out!

Zelda: The Lost Woods

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Made this especially for Valentines Day. I asked *xMarinx what she felt I should paint next out of my old artwork and she picked this piece so here it is. Did it in about 5 hours in Photoshop CS3.

Painting this was kind of a warm up in getting ready to paint *minarho1's contest entry which I've finally finished the line art for.

What's going on in the pic? Malon is getting a piggy-back ride through the Lost Woods by Link. Judging by her delighted expression towards the fairy, (and the fact that all Hyrulians besides Link and the Kokiri cannot set foot into the Lost Woods or else they'll turn into a Wolfo or Stalfos or Mushroom or something...) she's never been here before!

P.S. (Lemmie know if something looks weird and I'll see if it's worth fixing. I seriously rushed this picture >_>;;; )
