On the night of Samhain, The Morrigan and The Dagda met for a tryst at the river Unis. Afterward she bathed in the river and called for the limbs of those who were about to die in the coming battle against the Fomorians.

It's been a long time since I worked in Photoshop and it feels good to get back on it. Also nice to know that I did remember more than I though about the Morrigan.

Inspired by a Swedish illustrator, Anna Ileby who works with the same kind of markers I work with (See her work in her blog [link] or website [link]) I wanted to do a big (A4) marker portrait.

Finally I decided on ~zeldyn-stock's beautiful The Lost Valkyries 002 as my steppingstone and reference. Though as you can see I changed quite a few things around. I wanted her to have a kind of haunting expression. In the sketch she looked kind of scared but I might have toned it down just a tad bit too far instead... Anyway, I sketched it last night, cleaned it this morning and colored.

All in all it propably took me around 5 hours to complete (I'm rather chocked), and I'm very pleased with how it came out actually. I didn't think I could get those soft shifts in the skintone.

I'm thinking about doing something in the background, but to be truthful I'm afraid I'd mess it up.

I hope you all will like it!

In this piece I challenged myself properly, to create a scene with depth and dynamic light - using markers and ink to bring it to the next level. The light bouncing off the trees was areal challenge, as I wanted it to be colored and not white.
I am really happy with how this came out and consider it to be my best marker-piece so far.

In retrospect I would have worked more shadow into the water, and it might not be too late. I'll see if I dare go over the ink with markers.

Big thanks to all help and support you gave me on this piece!

In this piece I challenged myself properly, to create a scene with depth and dynamic light - using markers and ink to bring it to the next level. The light bouncing off the trees was areal challenge, as I wanted it to be colored and not white.
I am really happy with how this came out and consider it to be my best marker-piece so far.

In retrospect I would have worked more shadow into the water, and it might not be too late. I'll see if I dare go over the ink with markers.

Finally I sat down and started painting the lineart for the fantasy pinup series. And I'm pretty happy with how my first attempt came out.

I can say that masking fluid saved my life, otherwise those scales would've driven me crazy. But it was a fun challenge.

Finally I sat down and started painting the lineart for the fantasy pinup series. And I'm pretty happy with how my first attempt came out.

I wanted to do a portrait of the founders when they were young, the best of friends and had just founded the school.
A time when they didn't know what the future had in store for them. Like the sorting hat said:

"In times of old, when I was new,
And Hogwarts barely started,
The founders of our noble school
Thought never to be parted.
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
"Together we will build and teach"
The four good friends decided.
And never did they dream that they
Might some day be divided.
For were there such friends anywhere
As Slytherin and Gryffindor?
Unless it was the second pair
Unless it was the second pair
Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw,
So how could it have gone so wrong?
How could such friendships fail?
Why, I was there, so I can tell
The whole sad, sorry tale.
Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those
Whose ancestry's purest."
Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose

As for other stock used, I grieve the fact that my links to the deviations as well as the copy on my computer as well has dissappeared. I had my computer wiped, and unfortunately the folders with all my work was permanetly deleted. *sob*

So if anyone recognizes either the girl or the background please, PLEASE let me know who's the stock-artist so that I can give proper credit.

Anyway, we thought of a modern kind of Icaros, who's thrown himself out thinking he'll soar through the sky (because he's got the nifty outfit for it!), yet sadly he falls like a rock heading soon to become a pancake.

I can still make minor changes if there's something you'd notice that needs fixing!

This one I feel really happy with! The color scheme was promising, but this looks so much better...

The thrid card I've finished. And this one was quite a struggle. The card indicates new perspectives, seeing things from different angles. Hence our hanged man is upside-down. And what better person to be the hanged man in a circus than the rope artist?

We went with the rebirth aspect of the card, represented by a phoenix. And since we're working with a circus theme the phoenix in this case is a firedancer.
