If some better ideas for the drawing come up during the painting process then my impulses tend to take priority over the drawn lines.

When I block in color I try to cover as big areas as possible before I can do details. To me this helps to find the color composition as fast as possible.

I tend to avoid blocking in in black and white as that usually leads to dead looking colors. Instead I use a dynamic saturation/value layer that when turned on makes the whole image black and white. Value composition is to me just as important as the color composition. Luckily both can be quickly changed on the fly.

Almost the final phase where I get into details is the most grueling one. Especially when using just the round brush all the textures need to be painted from scratch.

During painting I try to keep all the colors on a single layer as much as possible. With this style layers make a painting look too much like cut & pasted all over the place especially around the edges and gives the edges a softer look. This is just my personal preference.

The gold panels were re-painted with a small round brush to give it a more lively textured look. This took an entire day of painting just gold. If you compare it to just the airbrushed version you can see that it's a bit more interesting. Mainly this kind of detail is done because I'm thinking of how it would look in a large scale print. Also I'm probably a bit OCD but that's another story...

I leave the "fun" details for last like hair and accessory material polish.

Then comes the REALLY scary part. Flipping the canvas horizontally to see the obvious mistakes. I tend to have a pen ready or a new layer on where I doodle as quickly as possible the points of the painting that give me retina-pain for seeing them. The big changes that i made were the position of one leg forearm scaling and the warping of the round shape to be more round. Also you can't see it here but I cut an entire slice of the painting from the right to give the composition more balance.

After that was done I hid a bunny in the green wall (just sayin'!)

So remember that go with the flow-thing I mentioned in the beginning? In the final painting things added due to paint flying all over the place in the block-in phase:
- the smaller round (hell even I don't know what to call it) panel
-cord of the headphones connecting with the background
-butterfly-like pink thingies in the top right corner to break the blandness of a long wall

Also thank you for watching/reading and let me know if you want to see w.i.p. posts in the future. Also ask away if there's something that I left out.

The end result can be seen here--> [link]

I'm lucky if I find a game as good as Persona 4 in the next 5 years.

It's very bright green and has pieces of cloth sticking out of it like it's a lawn indoors. I've always wanted a fake lawn as a carpet so to me it's like a dream come true.

Why am I talking about some carpet here you ask? It was the inspiration to this image that I want to put on the wall as a huge print. The original size of this painting is 10 000x7000+ pixels at 600(!) dpi. It truly is a work of biblical proportions for my computer. I'm so glad that I didn't have to fight with crashes during the painting process.

At some point I thought about making a "logical" excuse for the size of the carrot and paint spaceship windows to it's side. But that would be mean why not let the bunnies have their one perfect day? (this was titled "The Most Beautiful Day" before posting) I wanted the bunnies to be still instead of running for the carrot because I can so clearly hear the big bunny say "Remember this day kids!" to the baby bunnies.

When I told my bf I was going to paint the yellow flowers for this image he joked about me painting all the petals individually with some 1 pixel brush. I naturally was horribly offended and told him not to mock my intelligence like I couldn't make a flower shaped brush for the whole damn thing...

...*Cut to me painting all the flower petals with one pixel brush to make them all look individual because I don't like to use too much pattern-like brushes*

I think that's enough dandelions for this year! If you wanna see some recent bunnies of mine done with oil colours, then here's some bunnies in the night:[link]

We have a beautiful carpet in our living room.

I just let this picture paint itself really. I often stress the fact that people should paint more from reference but naturally the one who preaches doesn't practice his own advice. Just laugh at my stupidity and let it pass. The girl was a quick doodle on my sketchbook that I found shockingly full. (when did I draw all that crap!?)
For some reason when I look at her I can see accurately what she's thinking. There are things she didn't get to do in life that she was trying to do. The death looks like she (well it's really female looking to me ) understands what the girl is feeling with pity. For some reason when I look at her I can see accurately what she's thinking. There are things she didn't get to do in life that she was trying to do. The death looks like she (well it's really female looking to me ) understands what the girl is feeling with pity. But she's only a gear in the machine of life that she can't stop.

The colours were just a splash but I hope they make the design a bit more clear than just the lineart would have. The lineart for this is HUGE btw the original size of this image is
1876x 9094 at 300dpi. It was constructed by drawing all the details on several a3 papers and glueing them together in pscs2.
Add to that dozens of layers and my computer was squealing like a it was about to die when I coloured this.

I wanted the weapon design to be something that makes the viewer wonder what it means. I don't do weapons often enough nowdays which is a shame because it's so much fun. With this and "Violinist of the Purgatory"[link]
I guess it's safe to say I'm totally into designs that have people in them.

I tried to upload this as a smaller size so that you could download the bigger version through the button but da didn't give me any options to the fullview size like it usually does
Oh well if you're using mozilla you can at least download it and zoom out in the browser to see the entire image. If anyone can help me with this technical problem I'd be very happy indeed.
I think I'll move this to scraps because the colours don't have my usual level of polish and work.
Now I have a one-week vacation from school starting now and to celebrate this I sat down and painted this. I was listening to Rez:gamers guide to-soundtrack twice so I think it's pretty accurate to say that I painted this in 2hrs. There are still heaps of detail that I somehow managed to squeeze in everywhere. This city is sort of an ideal version of the real world. I wanted to create the sense of real calmness. To visit there requires a slow boat ride.
