El Gatito y La Luna
por Ramon Ramirez

Un gatito caminaba por la barda de una casa. Caminaba
lentamente para que el cascabel que llebava en el
cuello no hiciera algun ruido que pudiera despertar a
Toto, el perro que vivia en la casa vecina. Aunque Toto
era un perro viejo y jugueton, el gatito le tenia
miedo.

Entonces, oyo algo. Creyendo que era algun ave volando
bajo, miro hacia arriba con la intention de atraparla.
Pero en vez de ver un ave, vio la luna. Y la miro por
un momento, miestras pensaba "Y mi ave?". Pero habia
algo en la luna que lo hinoptizaba. Una bola redonda en
medio del cielo.

Por un momento penso que era un cascabel - como el que
colgaba de su cuello. Pero a diferencia de su cascabel,
esta luna era inmensamente grande y blanca. Entonces el
gatito recorde que habia oido hablar a su dueña, una
niña de 8 años, sobre la luna. "La luna es una gran
bola de queso", escucho alguna vez. Y su cabezita
comenzo a tramar algo...

El gatito penso que, si brincaba muy alto, podria
alcanzar la luna. Penso para si mismo: "hmm... meow
mewmewmew puurrrrr meow mreow!", que es como los gatos
dicen "Hmm... Tengo un plan!". (Traduzco por que no se
si tu, querido lector, hablas el lenguaje de los
gatos). "La luna esta hecha de queso", penso, "y...
aha! A los ratones les gusta el queso! Asi que debe de
haber centenares de ratoncitos alla arriba! Si brinco y
llego a la luna, podre cazarlos y comerlos!".

El plan estaba decidido. El gatito se apoyo sobre sus
cuatro patas, cerro los ojos, y utilizo toda la fuerza
de sus nueve vidas, y brinco! Brinco como ningun otro
gato ha brincado en la historia! Y para su sorpresa,
descubrio que habia una escalera hecha de estrellas. Se
sento en el primer escalon, de la manera en que todos
los gatos se sientan en una escalera, y miro hacia
abajo. Vio su casa, pequeña como un cascabel. Decidio
proseguir su marcha. Y subio, caminando entre nubes y
estrellas, hasta que llego a la luna.

Y, de nuevo, para su sorpresa, vio que la luna estaba
hecha de queso... pero no vio ningun raton, solamente
gatos durmiendo. Busco y busco, pero no encontro nada.
Siguio caminando, hasta que encontro al conejo de la
luna. A pesar de tener lenguajes diferentes, pudieron
entenderse.

- Conejo de la luna...
- Dime gatito?
- Esta luna esta hecha de queso, verdad?
- Efectivamente - dijo mientras mordisqueaba una zanahoria.
- Y... no hay ratones por aqui?
- Ah, tu tambien...
- Yo tambien que?
- Ves a todos esos gatos durmiendo? Ellos tambien vinieron por los ratones. Pero el primer gato que llego ya se los habia comido todos.

For the Cascabel (Jingle Bell) Editorial, am making a collection of fantastic tales

About strange planets, and giants, and metal and water people. Lots of tales of wonders

As I had to do the intro page for the collection, I did this drawing of the kitten watching the moon (in black and white coz the interior of the book is blanck and white)

U know that first page when u open a children book that has sometimes images, drawings, and the collection title or something... well thats it ^^

My story goes around this room, where a kid goes, unties his little toy horse, jumps into it, and starts imaginating... Then the cokmic turns to his imagination where he is a mighty cowboy in the west fighting bandits, and so on, till his horse trips and he falls down back on his room, at his mum's feet...

The room scene is monocromatic, the imagination part is full color... to separate the moments well... Now...

The first frame had to be a general scene of the location, in my case the room... And I couldnt decide either painting it DIGITAL or painting in BY HAND... As u may see from this two examples theres on handmade, and another computer made (a problem to choose the section in DA) ... the computer made could be more detailed but it would demad much more time than the hand made and I dont have it...

Any comments? Anything? I even sent them to my teacher who said choose the one u like best... I myself prefer the handmade one, but am not sure

The idea was that the library from the school I made the signage for, was doing a outside reading day... They have hanged lots of cloth ropes infront of the University building, and printed poems to hang in there, and some short text...

People passing by the street would stop, and pick up a paper and read while walking....

It was a cool idea...

The main message (in spanish) says: Don't let us hanging (a fun way here of saying dont let me waiting -or aside-)
