Just finished it yesterday after 3 months i can finaly say its finished ( well if I don't look to close at it because I keep seeing things that needs to have a detail more )

Made the reference pic years ago, so i can't quite remember what everything means. The fire and the persons going into the fire where life ends and going into the fire. fire in dreams means transformation. It may suggest that something old is passing and something new is entering into your life... Tje tree growing out of her breast suggest that new life grows out of the old . New destination . The planet half n the dark was ment to be that we have to take care of what we do with our source of life. It was something like that.

Its all about how time seems to fly away when we have something we like to do and how hours seem to last forever when we do something we don't like that much. The light as a symbol for an idea, inspiration, and the rocks as a symbol of how things can get in the way, how hard it can be to fullfill something. The key as a symbol for our own patience and hard work. And the clock for our own feel of how we depend on time .... Ohh well it was something like that

Sorry for the blurryness of the photo of the painting. With the flash the water was 'gone' and whithout its blur

Inspiration greek mythology about the titans
Reference model

water, labyrinth space came during the painting . The sketch was more black with fog , black space and moon. First time to paint a hand, and i'm actually quite pleased for the first time result
It started as a piece about chaos the titan and ended with a more hidden emotional twist :s

The beginning of life.. creation of water , air, nature ( leave on the back and knot on het leg) something like that .. On emotional level its about how we sometimes stick our head in the mud and ignore how beautifull nature and life can be</sup>

Women with PMS :How agony repeats itself each month... As you can guess the idea for this one came up during my periods when i was crawling from the pain and this came image came before my eyes ( the only positive thing for a change ) So i had to paint it

Normally I paint with blue and green tones

. First time painting with red tones was a challenge for me.
For the body i used a reference photo from a magazine of and old greek statue in black and white.

To keep it in my own style i made the head hollow and 'cut of ' the arms and legs to represent how pain does make us feel hellpless : 'like we can't do anything against it' . The balls represent the a womens fertility . The red background should have been calm and spacy but ended up with red stormy clouds..
. Making the statue body 'alive' again was another hard part but i can say next to some mistakes i'm kinde pleased with it</sup>

Its finished. I may not paint on it anymore from the teacher because she said its done, and if i do more i will go over the top with it.

latest painting i have started a week ago: I always wanted to paint a portret since i made in school a copy of a francisco de goya painting. That copy i don't have anymore, the teacher never gave it back when it was finished

I was so enthusiastic of that serie that i didn't read the description of all the photo's and accidentally downloaded a non stock photo to use as reference.

When i visited the photo again to read the rules, i realized that it was a non stock pic, I noted the photographer with the hope to receive permission to use it as a reference for this painting . And to my great surprise and joy she made an exception.
I promised to show some in between steps of the paintings process. So here is the first one . started a week ago i think.
Its my first portet i ever paint on canvas with oils. So i hope i won't ruin it.

The start: there are some mistakes in the sketch , the mouth isn't in the right place and the nose is a bit to long, but that probably will be fixed during the painting process.
Here i just try to find the right skin color and places of shadows

For the moment I 'm a bit further on the painting but i forgot my camera today.

IF this turns out good, I will probably do a serie, mostly to become better at it. and for that one i have one of Mizzd stock in mind , and a few others. i hope at least be able to make a serie of 3 portrets this year next to maybe some other 'normal' pieces, at least normal for me</sup>

The finished painting
I wanted to go further , but the teacher told me that if i did, it would go over the top.
It was a challenge, and i can't remember how often i repainted the flesh color
the one thing that really turned out very good, is the glove, i don't know how i did it but it look real doesn't it

I hope the model will like it :blush
I've called the painting Deborah because its the models name, or i can call it ' women with glove'
Again a big thank you to for allowing me to use a non stock photo as reference for this painting

I will replace this photo by another one, when the hair part is dry, not the oil shines a little bit to much and you can't see a lot</sup>

torn: how time get on out body and how we see ourself. And how that sometimes doesn't fit together. still feeling 18 while your body doesn't agree with that view
cursed on the torned body, ( thought it would be easier then a body ) and cursed on the blue tints, and cursed at the space behind the body.. the clock was surprisingly easy while i thought that would be the hardest part</sup>

First time ever I painted with paletknives and first time every i just painted a (imaginairy ) landscape. Frustrating because i was forced to paint roughly instead of fine like i normally do. And frankly i didn't know what i was doing with those paletknives .But in a way fun to
you may recognize this because i used this as reference:a background i made for a manipulation}

This time i didn't start with an example, i just started and hoped that maybe this time i got a decent one

No intention to get a religious piece,
The piece is darker then you see on the photo
the light was to bright when i shot it, and the flash wasn't so helpfull either

Its not great, but its for the moment the best in all the years i tried this stuff

Time spend: a few months
first time ever I painted a sea and waves and the part I cursed most on it. i really should start on easier things instead of jumping in something ..

This painting prefer to fall behind our aquarium. Really since its on the wall ( 1 month ), it fell twice behind our aquarium. First time my fault , i didn't hang it properly on the hook (?) , Second time because our cat got fell off the closet next to the aquarium and she made the painting fall of the wall . And its a small disaster to fish a painting between the wall and an aquarium
As you all know by now, the atlantis serie is about loss, and crescendo seemed to be the last one, some kind of closure, but its like they say, time may heal the wounds but the scars remind you of the loss. The stormy see represents that emotions when you think of the losses you have. things that seem to be healed and got a place in your life but sometimes overwelm you once again

Its the only one of the atlantis serie that doesn't excist in photomanipulation form and probably the first one of a serie in only traditional art media depends on the moments ' atlantis' rises in my emotions</sup>
