Readme for b0se Classic Visual Style

1. Its displayed as b0seClass since b0se Classic wasn't allowed in StyleBuilder

2. This *is not* designed to be used with a vertical taskbar.

3. I found myself using Windows Classic all the time, so I thought I'd make my own version...hope you like it!

4. I'm aware that the maximised caption text is shadowed, even when disabled this still apprears. Doubt you'd have noticed if I hadn't mentioned it

I've tried to create a skin that can be used for a long time without becoming boring, hence its very simple, let me know what you like / dislike!

Recommendations:

- Extract zip contents to '\Windows\Resources\Themes', using folder names.

- Make sure you select the desired theme via Display Properties -> Themes.
This will automatically load the matching wallpaper and cursor set. Handy

- Use Classic view for explorer windows - no shellstyle
(Tools -> Folder Options -> [Check] Use Windows Classic folders)

- Use the BLACK cursor scheme
(Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointers [Combo] Scheme: Windows Black)
- Large icons

- Install fonts
(drag them from '\Windows\Resources\Themes\Puma\fonts' into your '\Windows\Fonts' directory)

- Use Mac-like font smoothing (much nicer on the eye)
(Display Properties -> Appearance -> Effects -> [Tick] Use the following....screen fonts
-> [Combo] ClearType)

- Use large icons
(Display Properties -> Appearance -> Effects -> [Tick] Use Large Icons)

- Extract the MobyDock skin folders into
(copy and paste folders under '\Windows\Resources\Themes\Puma\MobyDock ' into your '\Program Files\MobyDock\dockconfig\Skins' directory)

IMPORTANT: Known Issues:

- When using 'No Border' styles, caption bars on dialog boxes (e.g. Display Settings panel) are
1 pixel too short either side. This does not happen on explorer windows (which is what you view
99% of the time - hence no real problem). Why this happens os beyond me (atm, anyway).

- When you select the desired theme via Display -> Themes, the Link Select cursor (the Hand)
will not load. This is apparent in all themes and has to be loaded manually via
Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointers. Select Link Select (at bottom of list), change and point
to '\Windows\Resources\Themes\Puma\OSX4XP\L ink Select.cur'

- Sometimes when appying a theme, e.g. [Puma] Pro No Border (by far the best!), the shadow on
the wallpaper is far too large. Simply right click on the taskbar and select Lock / Unlock taskbar
and it will sort itself out.

CO is designed as an ergonomic replacement for the default Windows Classic theme. It was designed with long-term use and compatibility in mind.

Frozen Halo

This frozen super-giant lives in the outer boundaries of the universe, surrounded by an icy halo and enourmous gas clouds.

This is my first real attempt to create a space-based image using Photoshop.

It took me about 2 hours to complete, and was built from scratch; the only texture used was that of earths moon (which is only partly visible).

I'm new to this type of art, so go easy Comments would be appreciated!

Inspiration

Even though its only a peg, I feel for it. Somehow it has character; holding on through time as it decays, while the synthetic material it relies on remains strong.

Inspiration

The center of the rose is mesmorising, it is so deep and full of life; a perfect stark contrast to the dying outer leaves and the floor beneath. I wanted to make the rose look as it were fighting against the surrounding dead world. It's petals look rustic.

Post Processing

Colour filters only. The Original image consists of vivid reds and greens.

Inspiration
Capturing the spider in its silence while it stalks its un-suspecting prey. Lethal. Thank godness we're bigger than spiders.

Post Processing
The spiders body was slightly blurred, to emphasize the size and length of its (closer) legs. I created the users point-of-view of watching it through foliage as is decends on its prey. Tweaked curves, levels and a colour filter.

XPMC RC3

A professional theme made for developers and XP users who are at their PC for long periods.

Added a totally new sub-style:

XPMC Induztry.

A dark theme with black widgets, but not too dark. Most dark themes before too much over time; XPMC Induztry has purposely been left with light elements (such as the main window and all 3D area's). A perfect mix!

- Normal and compact versions.
- Matching wallpaper for each.
- Simple and elegant shellstyles.

Part 1 of the upcoming GUI Set, Air is bright, colourful and ergonomically sexy.

A beta was released months ago, but the project had to be put on the back burner (much to the dismay/anger of many Neowinians) due to a job move. The final version will be out within 4 weeks, which will have a few colour schemes - time permitting.

The second GUI theme - Gui.Unnamed - is 75% finished, and will be released a month or so after Gui.Air. Keep your eyes peeled for a sneak preview.
