The best photos of faces to draw tend to be photographs with imperfections, usually the photographs of yourself that you hate.

At least that is what I believe. It is far more interesting to draw a face if you have bags under your eyes from lack of sleep, creases, wrinkles or even spots. You may hate them but they add character to the face.

I’d much rather draw a normal human face ‘warts and all’ than airbrushed, caked-in-make-up, boring ones. ]]>

It is taken from the chapter The Tale of Three Brothers, (as you can probably guess from the title), when the trio are in Xenophilius Lovegood's house.

I am really fascinated by the Black sisters. Each one of them took a different life-path and each one of them has completely differing personalities. I'm intrigued as to whether Narcissa would attempt to contact her estranged sister after the Battle of Hogwarts. I think she would.
Narcissa and Draco Malfoy dont seem to me like evil types, and neither does Lucius if I'm honest. What they are is rather selfish, prideful cowards, therefore they take the any route that will ensure their own survival. Although I believe Lucius is the worst of the three, I think Narcissa and Draco are just scared.
Generalising from a psychologist point of view, it is all about our 'fight or flight' response, the large majority of us will choose 'flight', which is exactly what Narcissa seems to have done through her life, whereas Andromeda chose 'fight'. The problem is once we use a certain response a lot of us will continue to go back to that same response over and over and it becomes habitual and safe.

Why am I rambling about this? Because I like to think that after the war, once Bellatrix is dead and Harry has won, Narcissa re-evaluates what is important and at least tries to make some kind of amends with her sister.
Especially now that her sister Andromeda has lost her husband, only daughter and son-in-law and now has to raise baby Teddy (with help from his godfather).

It's what I like to believe anyway...

I don't know why I've written all this, I think I'm a little delirious from lack of sleep, I've been awake and working non-stop for over 30 hours...

I love Andromeda.

More procrastination.

This is Bonnie the runaway from District 8 (as the title suggests), she only appears in one chapter in the entire series, her and a woman named Twill. But they are the ones who inform Katniss about her Mockingjay status and her role within the Uprisings.

To be honest the reason I wanted to draw this girl despite her small and seemingly unimportant role in the books is because she is described to be wearing a Peacekeeper's outfit that is far to big for her because it was intended for Twill's husband but he was killed.
I just wanted to practice drawing baggy clothes on a small girl. ]]> Oh well.

Why don't I ever get the drive to draw stuff that will actually be useful to my course.

For those who don't know the word Cwtch is a Welsh word for an affectionate hug. There's no literal English translation, but its nearest equivlent is "safe place". So if you give someone a cwtch, you're giving them a "safe place". ]]>

I like the Marauder's era but I'm just not as fussed about it as some people. It's kind of feels like being super interested in your parents because I draw Harry's era much more. But I do like them.
I wish JK Rowling would write a book purely written from Snape's perspective. It would be extremely interesting I think.

I digress, this is Sirius and James chilling in the Gryffindor dormitories probably with Remus (and Pettigrew). I drew it too close to the top of the page otherwise I would have added little Lupin in too. ]]>

I decided to have a stab a remaking one of my older drawings called The End Isn't Near..., minus the background of course (because I'm a lazy git). To be honest, I'm not even sure I've done it any better. I think my overall drawing has improved to an extent but things like the way Ron is jumping and the look in Hermione's eyes are better in the older one.
Hermione's face and Ron's body really frustrated me when drawing this, I just couldn't get them right! It doesn't help that I haven't drawn 17/18 year old Deathly Hallows characters properly for the longest time. But I'm just having one of those dud drawing days I suppose. I gave up trying in the end and attempted to do some actual work instead .

Here it is, a remake of an oldie. I hope that one day I'll add in a background but for now you'll have to make do!

One shivering second of silence, the shock of the moment suspended: and then turmolt broke around Harry as the screams and the cheers and the roars of the watchers rent the air. The fierce new sun dazzled the windows as they thundered towards him, and the first to reach him were Ron and Hermione, and it was their arms that were wrapped around him, their incomprehensible shouts that deafened him.

I know some of you will disagree with how I imagine her, but this is just how I pictured her when I first read the description. She reminds me a lot of Tonks from Harry Potter if Tonks had been subjected to heinous crimes by The Capitol in which they have most probably killed her entire family after she had been forced to enter a fight to the death.
You can imagine that has broken her soul a little bit (understatement). But that is why I love Johanna, she has managed to retain some of herself despite all this. She is an extremely strong person and brazen as hell!

So yes this is sort of how I picture her, once again since this is a first attempt some things I may change later on.

Anyway, this binging on Charlie began in my revision break when I was trying to decide which character from Harry Potter to draw next for my Character Sheet series. I've had several suggestions which I'll get around to I promise, I just wasn't in the right 'mood' to draw some of them and I don't draw as well when I'm forcing it. Suddenly Charlie Weasley came to mind and I got all pencil-happy.

More Charlie drawings will probably emerge in the near future... ]]> I just have conceptualised his character so much that I have this image of both his physical looks and his personality. I think that's why I'm enjoying drawing him because I like attempting to capture his personality within the picture.

Oh well, I gave it a shot. I may redo this one though. I think it needs some different poses...

I hope to complete another character sheet when I return to Newcastle on Sunday since there is not a lot else to do on a train and to be honest I am really enjoying drawing these at the moment.

I've redone Tonks a bit since the last time I drew her. The drawing in the top left is her when she is all depressed in Harry's 6th year and the rest I'm not sure. The top right needs a little more work though. (Do not ask me what I was doing with the bottom right because I have no idea... Maybe I was thinking of the pig nose but that looks NOTHING like a snout...)
Also, I know some people don't think Tonks smokes but I've just always imagined her to... She gives off that vibe to me, I think she quits but then ends up being a 'stress smoker'.
I've always loved Tonks so here she is.
