We have Learning Lunches at *atomhawk every so often. It's essentially a show and tell where one of our Artists will paint a demonstration of a chosen subject, while the rest of us sit around stuffing our faces watching the big screen. I've never considered myself gifted when it comes to any kind of public speaking, even with the people I work with ... but practice makes perfect.

They're good fun and it was my turn this week! So I painted a little skin demo. The face on the left is around 40 minutes, and the face on the right is about 1.5 hours. I thought this might be fun to share.

The Realm Kickstarter

The Realm is a project that I have been involved in for quite a while now and it's Kickstarter Campaign has launched today!

I've loved working on this and it's great that I can finally share some of the artwork for it. Here you have Sarina, one of our young protagonist in The Realm, a point and click adventure. It's stuffed full of lovely art and there's plenty of swag to bag if you back the project.

There's also a brief appearance in the video from myself!

I'll be sharing more art from The Realm throughout the campaign. Enjoy my lovelies!

I've been working at *atomhawk for a couple of years now, and I've yet to share any of the work I've done here at DA. I thought it might make a nice change to show what I actually get up to on a day to day basis, rather than all the pretty girls you know I love to paint. Haha!

This is an older piece of work as part of a project that was eventually canned, but it was so much fun to work on at the time!

I could have easily spent another day or so just going over this and trying to perfect everything, but alas; I'm out of time! So here it is, imperfections and all.

I don't make a habit out of entering contests, but I figured as the last one I entered was about 12 years ago... It was probably about time, plus I love the sound of this one! I wanted to give it a bit of a poster feel and took a little inspiration from some of my favorite movies and posters; Indiana Jones, Back to The Future... all my favorites, you get the idea.

No references for this one, just a butt load of grain and grunge textures! Grrrrr.

I'd like to have an eloquent description lined up for y'all but it's midnight and my hand is crippled. So here, have Snow White.

It's not as finished as I'd like... but that's essentially my life story. Moving on.

This isn't a Disney fan art nor a representation of the original variations, but more a mixture of Disney and Grimm inspiration. Homage to my childhood favourites.

Ive been pretty unsatisfied with my own work lately, it was beginning to feel pretty stagnant. I feel like Im starting on a whole new learning curve, which is nice. As much as I appreciate all the previous positive feedback on my work, I dont want to be known as the chick that draws the pretty girls! So anyway! A fresh painting. Im ashamed to say Ive never really painted an old person (holy crap, wrinkles are fun.) I can officially scratch that off my list! This was a total breath of fresh air :]

A little self reflection lately. A very personal piece, it's not much more than a sketch really. I didn't want to turn this into a full illustration. It's a little rough around the edges, which is fine by me. It's probably a little chaotic to look at, but that too is fine by me.

First acrylic in around 5 years. I'm so out of practice, but I really enjoyed this none the less. Gallery finally has a traditional painting! I can't draw wolves (more like foxes) and it's hardly perfect, but I'm sort of happy. :]

As Sam Nielson says, "If nobody complains about your unrealistic, made-up lighting, just run with it."

His left pupil is permanently dilated, so it looks a little darker for a reason.
