This piece s quite old now. Was done originally for ImagineFX Issue 22. Currently, you can see it on the cover of Ballistic Publishing's Exotique 3.

The version you can see now is quite different from those published, as I have recently reworked this image a LOT.

Overall, it took many, many hours in Painter and Photoshop. I also used some references (especially for the fish and the sea).

A small walkthrough with some closeups, WIPs and sketches will be available on CGSociety soon. I will edit the description with a link once it's up
symbolism:
The colour theme - the colours red, orange, black remind me of fire -> destruction
Lightning (in the frame and background)- something destructive, rapid, uncontrollable
The hairstyle - another reference to fire
The make-up - a reference to battle marks (you know, face painting etc)
The feathers - (I tried to make them look "sharp" rather than soft and fluffy); to me, in this form they bare a resemblance to tribes -> Wrath seen as something wild and primal.
The whip she is holidng - a symbol of power
The shattered earth - the influence Wrath has on the world

The date of the submission is symbolic as well - it has been exactly 2 years since I have first started the series.

technical:
- I am aware that the style and the technique is much simpler than what I have displayed in my recent works, but I had to keep the style consistant throughout the series. So yes, I know I haven't painted every wrinkle or skin pore etc.
- art nouveau stylization (A.Mucha); couple of refs used but nothing copied straight nor nothing major (whip for example)
- about 30 hours spent in Painter
So after 2 months of silence, I am giving you Lust

This is the third one of the serie, first ones are Vanity and Envy

"Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body."

The theme:
As you can see, from my Lust sketch I have only kept the pose, but totally changed the face.
I think that this one fits the topic better.
I see Lust as being concentrated on yourself, being "drowned in your own world" kind of way, rather than seducting and being "flirty"(and this look was used in the sketch)
Ok, nevermind

About the symbolism:
The color - I am aware of the fact, that according to some sources Lust is connected with blue. To me though, blue just doesn't do it - It's too "cold", and therefore I picked(surprise) red - connection with the color of flame, warmth. No I am not connecting lust with love

The frame - uses the flame pattern... my thought-connections were: flame -> burning desire -> lust

The waterfall - something rapid, unpredictable, not controlable :]

The picture took me a long LONG time to finish, mainly because I have done 2 other versions which I was not satisfied with.
Done in Painter7 and Photoshop CS in an uncoutable number of hours XD

Hope you like it!

DISCLAIMER: As I am currently working on another project, I will take a break from the Seven Deadly Sins Serie, BUT I DEFINITELY AM planning on finishing it. The next one, coming probably in a few months will be SLOTH

VANITY can be seen here: [link] :]

The theme:

Second of the Seven Deadly Sins serie.

"Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or
situation"

Personally I think envy means much more than just a wish to have something
someone else has. To me, it means also ACTING AGAINST that person,
"revenging" in a way, trying to take the "object of our desire" away from
them, or backstabbing them in some way etc.
That is why myself I consider envy the "heaviest" sin of all seven.

symbolism:
- snake - as I mentioned, envy, to me, is connected with cunning and doing
something behind one's back

- poison ivy leaf in the frame (and the column)- maybe just a word play, but
I always connected ivy with destruction of some sort... Growing using a
different object as a "support"... Something like that ;]

- color green - i guess it needs no comment

Techy info:
During the last few weeks I have been going through a small "artistic
breakdown", noticing how many mistakes I make etc... So I decided to try to
work harder on my pieces from now on and develop my style... So here you go,
something more painty than before :] I hope you like it, cause I'm pretty
satisfied for now :]

Time spent: around 60 hours again, doing those leaves sucked, really!

Coming next: (most probably) LUST :]~
Technical info:
This work was done for Epilogue's "Season of Renewal" contest.
I've spent around 25 hours on this. Used tutorials for patterns, inspirations, refs for pose, dead body, studies of G.Burns, as well as the dress pattern from one of my older works... As the work was smaller, you might see some pixelation in a few parts of it, which I'm really sorry about.
Poem written in around 2-3 hours It's not too long but the contest rules forbid writing too long descriptions for pictures, hence the 2 "paragraphs".
