Certainly prevalent in culture today. This is pretty simply to dissect. Falling rose petals, naked woman with a bunny mask on wearing an enormous floral train. It just screams "Take me! Take me in this bunny mask!"

Excessive pursuit and desire of material things.

Blood and diamonds, what more could a person ask for?

This took a really really long time. I'm not sure why, but working with yellow tones has always been a bit of a struggle for me. I always feel like the darker yellows, which eventually become brown, are going to make everything look dirty. But I'm really happy with this!

I really wanted to portray a desperate character, withholding her riches yet destroying herself with them! Fabulous right? Vogue better not steal this damn idea.

I wanted to convey something that really was sympathetic. What better option did I have than a chained up filthy child?
This was really fun, I feel like it has a real story! I plan on painting the virtues after the sins, so I'll make up it up to this little girl I promise!

I know too many people guilty of this sin. Sloth: To be a lazy ass bitch.

I wanted her in blues (of course), covered in spider webs! Like spiders were literally trying to help to hold her together. Stand her up and fix her pretty gown!
This was ridiculously fun, I loved drawing messy lines and really playing with this moody color scheme. I think the spiders are precious! All of the white you see is their handy-work, trying to help this clearly emaciated young damsel get off her lazy ass!

The first member of my new project!

Envy: "A desire to deprive other men of theirs."

I usually see a great number of artists on DA portray their "Envy's" as very sad, mourning over what they don't have. I was like, "fuck that shit, an envious bitch wants revenge, she should borderline wrath." So that's how I painted her, lol.

I took on a green, poison theme. Very wicked and alluring, yes?
Voodoo Dolls, shrunken heads, poisonous bubbles, the works!

I plan to paint the rest of the sins, as well as the virtues in the oncoming weeks! Stay Tuned!

Wicked Witch of the West 4

Last spring I was a apart of a children's show featuring an amalgamation of characters. I was cast as the Wicked Witch of the West.

So I obviously had to make a costume! I was inspired by Susan Hilferty's fantastic rendition of Elphaba in the broadway musical Wicked! The construction took quite a while, but was well worth it. A lot of black lace, ripped neon fabrics, plaids, purples, blues, you name the color, its in this costume. The skirt is a gathered circle skirt onto the bodice and has cascading ruffles. There's a built in bra, puffed shoulders, and quite a few textures, I loved wearing it. I actually took a pattern of a jacket to make the main bodice and built everything off of that, so really it's all drafted from scratch, bunch of alterations had to be made for it to flow right.

This damn dress really put me and my sewing machine to the test, and I definitely think we won! Oh, and the makeup is all me, I really had no help with this project except for my photographer haha!

For those of you who may follow my work, you must know that the Wicked Witch is my FAVORITE fictional character of all time, next to Mickey of course. She really represents freedom, a rebellious spirit that has overcome adversity and is unafraid of her unconventional beauty. Just absolute perfection, and green is my favorite color too! Ugh. I just adored this whole process. This dress is really the crowned jewel of my collection of costumes and I hope you all enjoy it. It's my first time submitting any of my actual photographed designs.

This was a total all nighter....I've had dresses like this in my mind for a while now and I needed to get them out of my head!

Pale, washed out colors, glittering hemlines, embroidery, all encased and rimmed by warm gold and pink chromatic lines. Very aged and Lolita-esque maybe? Whatever, I think its sexy.

This is all about corsets, web motifs, witch hats, devils bust-lines, and sheer deliciousness. I looooove the skeleton frames! I didn't want to end up making everything campy and colorful, I wanted these dresses to look wearable and powerful.....of course there are a few that are just for show.

I decided to take the ponies we all know and love and give them a different look!

*Fluttershy
She is such a precious character. I wanted lots of frills along the bottom of a "mullet" cut gown, like a plethora of light yellow petals and flowers was always around her. Snatch her hair up into a tall bump and give her a mask as an homage to her name.

*Rainbow Dash
Probably my favorite pony, she's such bad ass! Really transparent light blue gown with an rainbow ombre hem line that extends up her leg. Feathered shoulders and slight cloud motifs on her wrists and neck. A sickening gown.

I wanted to keep both Twilight and Rarity very simple in terms of adornment and detail. As the only ponies that can use actual magic, I feel like their outfits should be more centered around lustrous fabrics. When the lights hit these two they need to look like the definition of magic!

*Apple Jack
I wanted to give her something super dramatic and cool, nothing shiny or sparkly like the other ponies. She's a tomboy! A large red cape, tall boots, tight corset, feathered hat. Rich earthy colors instead of her light, "eastery" orange.

*Pinkie Pie
Quite the contrary to Apple Jack, Pinkie is literally the definition of color. I didn't want her to be pink on pink on pink, so I centered a blue that allows her look to have more definition and be more varied. Still super bright, super fun and a great personification of her character!
