So why did I make this cartoon anyway? I think we Christians can sometimes be like Jesus' friend there in the Sega-reference Jesus shirt. Just look at all the folks who are up in arms over the Golden Compass without knowing a thing about the movie or book! This was a difficult strip to put together in some respects. When I made it, the Angie story arc had just completed, and I saw the chance to address some substantial issues, but at the same time I wanted to write something funny and stay true to the characters. I think I did as good a job of balancing these three factors as I could here. Ultimately, I'm pleased with the basic message of this strip: I am a firm believer that deep down inside, Christian and nonchristian alike, we are all kind of bums.

My apologies if you were offended by Kurt's profanity in the last panel. I gave it a lot of thought, but I felt like it wouldn't be Kurt otherwise.
