There were just a bit of fun. It was quite an interesting challenge to turn the rich icons into simplified iconographic representations. As with standard OS X folders, the icons are set at 512px, 128px, 32px and 16px. The 32px and 16px versions are all hand-tweaked. I tried colouring them first, but that didn't work out so well, so standard blue folders they are.

Most of the textures were hand-created, including the hexagonal tatami edging (a variant of which I use on my portfolio site as a background). I'm especially pleased with the vase's texture, which looks even nicer at high res. It's an abstract tesselating water splash pattern, offset at an angle to avoid obvious repetition. The wall scroll is stand-in art only, and I'll be replacing it with something else in due course.
