There are a lot of Franky endorsement material, including Sanji-bashing doodles, plus a comic done to campaign for Franky in his match against Sanji. Sadly, he lost.

There are also a few gender-bending madness, such as the baroque senshi sailor misters, but most notably is that of the hot madame crocodile and the... uh, chunky vice admiral garpina...

which then gave birth to batshit crazy garpina with chainball boobies.

Nonetheless, I also have some rather normal stuff, such as some perspective practice I did while bored, some Link practice to warm up for the upcoming Zelda comics, and the faces of random passersby I drew while waiting outside a store.

I also finished the 2nd Layton game, which still shows no improvement in the common sense aspect, albeit being thoroughly enjoyable.

And since I marathoned 7 Harry Potter books in the full week I was on complete drawing hiatus, I felt obliged to take a stab at making my own Hogwarts OC. It's a good thing I'm 5-6 years late, because otherwise the fandom would have lynched me.

Personally, the one year mark is quite an accomplishment because I usually don't stick with something for an entire year. Furthermore, you can probably see some improvement along the way, however slight.

I learned a lot of new things from these daily doodles, but the one main thing that I learned most here is patience. My lines and my shading, although still keeping that rough sketchy look, are a lot more refined compared to when I first started. I am also a lot more patient in finishing a drawing; instead of rushing it so I can get it done and over with in 30-40 minutes, now I take my time and not fret over how long it takes.

Lots of One Piece again this month, though some of them are done for the purpose of campaigning for the character tournament over at APForums. The Duval picture is a gift to everyone who appreciates a good scenery; because in front of every nice scenery, there is always one fuck ugly person standing in front of it ruining the scene. Also did some football-playing admirals because that's what they'd probably do to kill time. ]]>

the colored drawing of usopp and chopper was a test i decided to do before i started the buggy colorspread. initially the buggy colorspread was to include some water and i wanted to see how to color water. turned out that it's too hard for me, so i kinda gave up and got rid of the water altogether from the spread. the quality of the usopp and chopper pic in this ASAD is low because i used a 32 color PNG compression. if you want a better view of that pic, you can go here: [link]

i missed 3-4 days in january, but at least i'm still going. this marks the 6th month of my a sketch a day project.

a few big pictures this month. the top left is to celebrate the end of 2008 and start of 2009. i tried to fit in every character i was interested in drawing in 2008 in one page. there are more than that, but i ran out of space.

lots of one piece this month. some supernovas in the beginning of the month because i wanted to do a supernova colorspread. and then there's the recent appearance of mr. 3 and buggy during luffy's invasion in impel down that got me even more excited. oda's habit of bringing back old characters into the picture is something that i find really awesome. this is why you don't just go around killing off older characters, kishimoto. mr.3 never looked this cool before, and even buggy was awesome. i also plan on doing a buggy crew colorspread. lots of OP projects planned out

the other big thing at the bottom is older layton. i thought he looks really good with beard, so i gave him one. that picture, though, was done mostly because i wanted to draw a library scene. i got kinda lazy towards the end, which is why the top right of the picture is blank, but i spent about 2 hours on that picture already and i was getting tired.

what's the improvement this month? background setting, definitely. i'm getting more comfortable in placing people in a setting, and i'm certainly getting better at drawing straight lines without a ruler. i'm also very happy that i managed to draw most of these characters in certain backgrounds straight with a pen, without a single pencil sketch.

my favorite piece? the pillar pic on the last row. i actually got the lighting somewhat correct. ]]> [link]

1. it ensures that you're drawing consistently
2. it helps you practice stuff that you're not good at. for example, this month i've gotten some decent amount of practice on perspective, background, object design, girls, action scenes, scenery...

and some S&M stuff. did you know drawing ropes is quite hard to do? ]]>
