So cute!
Totoro is from the japanese movie "My neighbor Totoro" by Hayao Miyazaki. And is a simply charming movie. Well worth the watch if you have netflix they have it on dvd.
Anywho they are little forest sprits who collect seeds and make trees and plants grow really fast.
They are in several different sizes with the largest being the size of a house and the smallest about the size of an apple. These guys are even smaller than that and can fit in the palm of your hand easy.
Pattern is from here:
[link]

So I have gone through my stash of t-shirts for fabric/recon\'s and realized I have way to many. It\'s actually ridiculous how many I have. Well I recently ADDED to the stash with about 5 of my hubby\'s shirts that had shrank in the wash lengthwise. Thing is hubby is a 3xl. I am a women\'s medium or small. Results? Lots of fabric to work with!
So I took a green stripey golf shirt and tried a tutorial I found on craftster for a \"10 minute\" peasant shirt reconstruction. Found here:
[link]
And While for me it took about 45 minutes still super easy and I will definitely do it again! ( I did some extra stuff to mine thus it took longer.)

So this was started in christmas of 2008, and worked on off and on till this friday(2010)
This all started when I offered to make my nerdy/geeky brother a poppet. I was thinking he'd want an x-man character or something easy like that. Spandex costume type outfit, no problem. Instead he sheepishly asked if I could make him one of this clone troopers. I said yes. Then he picked the 3 most complicated of his action figure army and asked if I could replicate one of them. I'd all ready said yes and at the time thought ooh a challenge. I worked on him right before christmas 2008, then he sat till mid january 2009, I tried hard to get him finished for my brothers birthday that year (the 28th) but I only got him sewn at that point. Sometime last year I randomly picked him up and stuffed and put him together. Then he sat put together and nekid on my work table till monday. I decided I was going to finish him for my brothers family party on friday(aka yesterday) I do not work more than a few days each month ans am a housewife so I had time. So I worked each morning till hubby got home and some evenings after dinner to get him done.

The patterns for the armor I drafted from scratch on my own. I have them but I had to tweak each one as I went to make it fit right for the doll and look right. I top stitched a lot of the grooves and such on the 3-d armor to the felt armor to make it look less like a marshmallow and more armor ish. I had to hand sew nearly every piece to the doll I am not good at hand sewing so this was it's own amount of work, though towards the end I did some "cheating" and sewed the front piece to elastic and then slid it in place. Though that does not mean it can come off!

Then for the extras. This is not any mere clone or storm trooper. He is an Arc Trooper. He wears a kama (aka man skirt) and a shoulder thing(can't remember the name) and both of those were my favorite part. The skirt and shoulder part are removable, the pockets on the skirt are functional. So much fun!

And his helmet is removable! The doll is button jointed at the hips and shoulders, so he can sit and sort of stand. He's not got the greatest balance though. He's weighted in the legs to give him better balance but his feet aren't flat enough on their own.

If you've read all that thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

So in this picture we have Mr. Ark Trooper without his "kama" (man skirt/belt) and his shoulder thing that's name escapes me. See I told you they are removable.

More pictures!
Front view:
[link]
Back view:
[link]
Lower legs closeup:
[link]
