A spontaneous 15 min speed paint of Grimes.

I couldn't focus at work today and I was feeling really down and gloomy. So to cheer myself up I watched a few interviews with Claire on youtube which really got my spirits up WAAAAAY high so instead of forcing myself to focus (which is impossible for me anyway) I just had to get this image out of my system real quick.

So I just tossed it up on twitter [link] and as if some really sweet happiness-hype-fairy had heard my wishes, my role model, super-duper-awesome Grimes the Targaryen saw it, retweeted it and replied!

I'm still shaking because this really made my day ^__^ If not my whole week, month or year! Getting in touch with people you really admire through your own artwork must be the most amazing feeling ever.

Over the top self-portrait from an epic dream I had last night. I escaped from a trashed up hospital, dashed through a dark version of the city I grew up in. Leaped through a giant skatepark in search of two lost friends, moving so fast that everything became a warped blur of colours and shapes.

It ended when some dude yelled at me for disturbing the peace and I gave him a kiss before kicking his ass. I've never felt so cool in my entire life. Didn't want to wake up...

Self portrait! I've actually never ever done a serious self portrait. It's always been cartoony versions of me. Somehow I find it really scary to draw myself. I want it to look good but it has to be accurate and I don't want to portray myself like something I'm not. Well, I made some exceptions...

I've drawn girls with alternative styles, messy hair and piercings for as long as I can remember. Despite this I've always considered myself too "boring" to be able to look like that myself. Well, fuck that! This portrait is me + all the stuff I want to do. Piercings and the partially turquoise hair. It's a look I love, so why shouldn't I be allowed to get it for myself? No reason at all! Now is the time. :3

Yeah hell, this looks awfully dark. I don't usually go so far in my darker artworks but now I just had to. It's all that dramatic and emotional darkness that for once isn't much of an exaggeration.

For the past month I've been locked up inside a psychiatric ward, medicated, diagnosed, ended a relationship. It's felt like dying and then trying to come back from the dead to learn how to live again.

I'm alive now and I'll make sure to create whatever I feel like while I am. That is the meaning of it all.

It's been a while since I painted one of my dark faeries. Despite the darkness of this image I painted it with hope. Sometimes the sadness needs to come out in some form. Emotional songs, sad books or dark images. If it doesn't come out it stays on the inside and hollows you out.

I was obsessed with the first games in my early teens. I was trying to ignore the fact that a new game came out simply because I wasn't able to play it, I didn't have anything to play it on! Now however I have an xbox and nothing can stop me from jumping around, slicing and peppering things.

I can't ever be happy with an Alice pic I make, the performance anxiety of taking something I truly love and making it justice is too big, but this will have to do. ^_^
