beta 2 includes lots of fixes and changes - an (almost) complete list can be found in the "Change Log" section of the ReadMe.rtf file.

...again, this is labelled beta for a reason. I developed these on my desktop, so in particular the Wifi and Battery skins are largely untested, though I will attempt to test all the skins on my laptop in the coming days. Additionally, my Lua code is pretty terrible, so suggestions for streamlining that are appreciated. Lastly, I always use RGB color codes, and haven't tested the Settings.ini skin using Hex codes yet. I tried to make my Lua code for alpha changes work with Hex codes, it's just not tested yet.

This skin was suggested by user ~veggie27 as an international alternative to my "Do I need an Umbrella?" skin. It simply parses the feedback from the website UmbrellaToday.com.

There a few limitations compared to the DINAU skin - mainly, UmbrellaToday does not report back the location that they matched to your search string. That is, you might search the website for "Athens," and UmbrellaToday will not tell you whether they are giving you the weather from Athens, Greece or Athens, Georgia (USA). This is a limitation of the website, and there's nothing I can do about it in the skin.

It's possible that the numeric codes in the URLs from UmbrellaToday (see below) are not location identifiers but rather identifiers for cached queries. I can't tell, but if that is the case then over time this skin won't report correct results, then won't report anything at all. We'll just have to see...

How to use

Go to UmbrellaToday.com and search for your location

In the URL, there is a number between "/locations/" and "/forecast" (e.g. http://umbrellatoday.com/locations/235237131/forecast

Right click on the Rainmeter skin and select "Edit Skin." (This will open the skin .ini in Rainmeter's assigned text editor.) Copy the number from the URL into the "location" key under the [Variables] section.

I used this setup, or one very similar, for quite some time. The VS, wallpaper, and colors might change, but the basic elements in that Rainmeter sidebar were always there.

The background bar used the new Aero Blur feature to blend as well as possible with the "Shadow for 7" taskbar, and double-clicking the Rainmeter tray icon would fade all the skins in and out if I wanted to hide the sidebar.

Launchy was the stuff on Windows XP, but on Windows 7 I found that I didn't really need it, so I haven't used it since this screenshot. I can understand keeping it around if one used some of it's more advanced features, but I never did, so I just use the Start Menu search function baked into Windows 7. This worked especially well after I added some command shortcuts to the start menu using NirCmd - that way I could type "Shutdown" or "Eject" or "Empty Bin" directly into the Start Menu search and use the corresponding NirCmd action.

Looks like Yahoo! made some changes to their weather page, and removed the RSS button. The feed still works, but you can't go from the forecast page to the RSS feed to wind your Yahoo/Weather.com WOEID. In the US, instead of using your WOEID, you should just be able to use your ZIP code. For those outside the US, try this:
- Go to Weather.com (the Weather Channel) and search for your location, preferably using a city and country.

Simple, clean Rainmeter skins, for someone who does not need to monitor their overclocked 6-core processor, but does want the time and date on their desktop.

The Elementary skin set currently includes time, date, weather (current conditions and three-day forecast), basic system monitor, analog clock, and "chronophage" (ornamental/time tracking) skins.

How to:

Make sure you have Rainmeter installed (version 2.3). [link] If you are new to Rainmeter, you may want to check out some walkthroughs to get familiar with the program, like Rainmeter 101 [link] or this Lifehacker article [link]

Download the .rmskin file from the link near the top right of this page. You should be able to run the file with Rainstaller, which will put all the files in the right places on your system.

Edit the file "...\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\Elementary\@Resources\Settings.txt" to change settings. "...\Rainmeter\Skins\Elementary\ReadMe.rtf" has explanations of all the options!

Notes on this update:

Rainmeter 2.3 is required for Elementary version 1.5! (Check the change log if you need to know the reasons...)

Added a "Language" setting in Settings.txt! Currently, valid options are en, de, es, fr, nl, and ber. Please see the ReadMe for details, including how to translate Elementary yourself to a language that isn't already included.

Because of the new @Resources folder, you should no longer have to install any fonts for the skin to work (and thus don't need admin privileges). If, for whatever reason, you do need to install the fonts, the files are located in "...\Elementary\@Resources\Fonts\"

Weather translation substitutions are now case insensitive

Clicking "via Weather Underground" in the weather skin now takes you to the Wunder page for the location you entered in Settings.txt, not to the page parsed from the XML feed, which was sometimes incorrect.

Simple, clean Rainmeter skins, for someone who does not need to monitor their overclocked 6-core processor, but does want the time and date on their desktop.

The Elementary skin set currently includes time, date, weather (current conditions and three-day forecast), basic system monitor, analog clock, and "chronophage" (ornamental/time tracking) skins.

How to:

Download the .rmskin file from the link near the top right of this page. You should be able to run the file with Rainstaller, which will put all the files in the right places on your system.

Edit the file "...\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\Elementary\@Resources\Settings.txt" to change settings. "...\Rainmeter\Skins\Elementary\ReadMe.rtf" has explanations of all the options!

Notes on this update:

Rainmeter 2.3 is required for Elementary version 1.5! (Check the change log if you need to know the reasons...)

I'm a big fan of Kaelri/DarkPain-AHK's Simplicity Rainmeter suite. [link] [link]
I'm also a big fan of the Roundline meter.
So I had a go at combining the two.

These skins are extremely configurable, and all of the options are changeable through the "Settings.ini" skin. You can change the size of the circles, the width allowed to the skins, the font sizes, and all of the colors; besides user specific information like the weather code, media player, and drive letters. (22 separate variables in all.)

Simpl(icit)y Circles contains the following skins:

Background bars - vertical and horizontal, and double-size variants.

Battery

Hard Drives (3)

RAM

SWAP

Upload

Download

Wifi status

CPU (total usage and Top Process)

CoreTemp (cpu temperature and speed)

Core Load and Temperature (4)

Recycle Bin (manual and auto-empty variants)

Time (Time first, date first, and weekday variants)

Weather (gives today's forecast, and current conditions on mouseover)

Media Player (currently returns song name, album title, artist name, song length, and song progress, but only has Play/Pause control)

Some notes:
Changing the skin size - The circle size automatically scales to the "height" variable. When changing the size, I would recommend changing the height, then the font sizes, then the width.
What's up with the weather skin circle - The circle meter in the Weather skin shows the current temperature, relative to today's forecasted low and high temperatures (it uses those values as MinValue and MaxValue).
The Recycle Bin skins - Both skins use the variable "BinMax" to calculate the circle meter. But the "auto" variant silently empties the Recycle Bin for you if the size exceeds the "BinMax" value.
NowPlaying.dll - I highly recommend doing some reading here [link] if you're trying to get a specific media player working with the "Player" skin.
"This media player skin is useless!" - Well, yeah, nearly. I'll work on adding some more control functions later. Hopefully some buttons that show on mouseover.
