So I ranted on Google+ that I work hard on my art and I get zip in return. Then someone with an Anime sounding nickname does a practice drawing of a male (read, just an outline with shading, nothing more) and they get 2,000 faves in a day.

Then former schoolmate turned G+ and Facebook friend Jordn suggested that in order to succeed on dA I needed to draw Sailor Moon and Peter Griffin slash.

And here it is. Well, the Peter Griffin bit anyway.

For added creepiness / "ohgod!!"-lyness, I put in a classic PG quote and drew some hairs on his chin. Coz hair lets women know that a man is a manly man, man.

365 Challenge - Day One

For those not in the know, between February 2010 and February 2011, I undertook the 365 challenge. One photo a day for a whole year.

It rekindled my love of photography and really pushed me further than ever.

Practicing with the Wacom A6. This scene was done in about an hour in ArtRage 2.5 using mostly the airbrush tool for the background, the paintbrush tool for the tree and the crow, and the paint tube for the moon.

I'm rather proud of this. It's my latest WIP, and is more of a learning exercise of Maya and Mental Ray's lighting. As time goes on I'll add to this scene and improve the lighting etc. so don't panic

The lamp is an ambient light (I know I should have used directions, but ambient does the trick nicely here) and a directional light to show the light inside the lamp. The photo in the frame is one I took myself, which I might upload, interest permitting..

So yes this is a WIP. If you have any lighting suggestions, Maya tips and such, lemme know. I'd love to hear them and learn from them ;D

dAHack2 Preview

Here's a little something for all my loyal watchers. A preview of dAHack 2. It's working, it's expandable and you can do almost anything. If something doesn't work, or a feature is missing, you can add it with no programming knowledge at all!

It's also cross-site compatible, so you can hack up your hotmail, your YouTube page or your (god forbid) MySpace page.

I'm just putting the final touches on a sample pack that includes a lot of what dAHack 1 included, but is a LOT smaller on the code

When it's done I'll submit a full deviation and you can download it and test it out

Yessir another crappy drawing. Penciled, photo-ma-graphed, coloured in The Gimp. And yes, I know I suck at drawing women. Never really had to draw one before, but it'd look strange with a male angel wouldn't it?

Scrapped, because I'm not happy with it. It's funny, yes, but the drawing is just shocking. I need practice, or to stop starting with trad and go straight for digital.

This is an almost complete skin for myPS2 ([link]), an almost 'shell' for the Sony Playstation 2. You can listen to internet radio, view pictures, listen to music, launch other homebrew applications and more. And it's almost fully skinnable. This is a WIP, and contains stock from [link] ([link]) as well as icons from KDE-Look.org ([link]). It's based on the original theme by ntba2 ([link]) with modifications. More are coming soon.

Anyways upload this to your PS2 using your preferred method (I use myPS2's FTP server and FlashFXP for this) and into the Skins directory

I bought a new digital camera last night. $400 worth of Fujifilm Finepix S5600, so I briefly strolled across the road a minute ago and took a photo. Silly me forgot to use the manual focus so that's why the flowe is out of focus. Expect a lot more photography from me soon

It's in scraps coz of the lack of focus. I wonder just how many people devwatch my scraps? oh well

OpenGIS software box v1

This is the first design for the box for OpenGIS, my open-source chat program. It was done in the GIMP using "Map to Object" in Filters, and the glass thing was created using Cinema4D and a custom texture for the glass. Looks pretty good, and is a (very XD) similar style to [link]

I know the side of the box has stretched text, but this is v1, so expect updates sorta soonish maybe?

Hotel - WIP

FULL VIEW PLEASE! This thing sucks without it. And for extra viewing pleasure, download, open in MSPaint and crank the zoom RIGHT up!

My first attempt at Pixel Art of this size. Just a little something I've been working on (Sometimes while chatting to *KagomeResurrected but don't tell her k? )

This is 100% pixel art, and I'm rather proud. ~manjit thinks so as well ^_^

As stated, this is a Work In Progress, so a lot of things will change.

Now some fun things to check out (Not many, but more to come ^_^)

The Tennis court - Regulation Markings too

The 'red carpet' out the front. Recreated digitally from an actual red mat at a hotel in Sydney

The colour palette in the top-left corner. All the colours that were used in the image (Well most of them, it needs a slight updating )

The striping on the HOTEL sign. ^_^ based of a real hotel sign

Now some features I plan to add later on:

People - Gonna be lots of people playing and having fun ^_^ (Damn you Misha for getting me into the "^_^" habit )

Cars - Cars parking in the underground carpark, driving along the street, running over pedestrians etc.

Scaling - Yeah the scaling sometimes sucks here, but I'm gonna fix that real soon.

Textures for the buildings - Real-looking concrete, real grass, wavy water etc.

LOTS of little goodies hanging around.

Plus HEAPS more!

So enjoy this one, and make sure you keep an eye on my page, as the next version's gonna be uploaded soon

(oh and if your wondering about the LEGO movie, don't. I'll have it up soon-ish, promise!)

A friend of mine is developing a chat application, and came to me looking for a fresh logo. I tinkered around in the GIMP for about an hour (Mostly watching TV XD), and out popped this.

Of course, he didn't use that logo design, but he did modify it extensively o_O;

Yet another ID. This one reflects my writing style. Posting this brought a joke to mind:

A southern speaking man goes to the doctors, after realising he is having troubles in the bed. He's gone for hours, and his wife starts to worry. Just before dinner time, he throws open the door, takes his wife and kisses her in a way never seen in years. After she regains her senses, she looks at him and gasps "Where'd y'all get that suit?" Indeed, he was wearing a really expensive looking suit. He looked down and smiled and said "At th' expensive new store round back. You like it?", to which she replied "Yeah. But what'd the doctor say? Must've been good for you to be dressed like this!". The man said:

"The Doctor said I'm Impotent, and damn it, if I'm gonna be impotent, I might as well look Impotent..."

Well, if my writing is important, my ID might as well look important.

My old ID was bugging me, so I thought I'd create a new one... And here it is!

The whole idea was to re-create an old game-watch style interface, but when I started, I did this, and it looks great (IMHO!). This now replaces the old blue ID, created in class in about 5 minutes flat.

This is the second design of NChat Evolution (NCE) logo. It was created in Bryce after 5 minutes of mucking around . If you don't know what NChat Evolution is:

NChat evolution is a follow-up application to the widely successful NChat Alpha.

NCE is a multi-platform (Windows, Macintosh, Linux) Chat program that can be used over the internet, with a server, or on a LAN with no servers. It has features such as:

Fully programmable Chat bot
Run your own chat room
IRC style /me functions
Chat currency, so you can purchase items & stuff
No 3rd party programs required, just run and chat!
Works on most distributions of Linux, Mac OS and Linux
100% Open Source
Does not use C++!

Currently in development, this is the second and (IMHO) the better of the two logos. If anyone wants to see the first one, then I can post it

Fog on the shore

There'll be fog on the shore tonight Bosun.

This was a quicky render in Bryce 5. I was toying around with bridges, lights and piers, but none of them looked good as this did

The boat rocks silently in the water as the rower holds the lamp. The yellow light flickers and throws onto his face deep shadows and brilliant highlights. He looks across in the distance to foreign shores, but fails to register. He turns around to stare at the moon, always ominous on the horizon. This is his time, his... morning glory.

Perception of Reality

A short story that I wrote for a Year 11 English assignment. Got me 30/30 and teacher said it was easily up there with the best of Year 12

The story follows several people in a small town as they are terrorised by something unknown. This continues until the town is in total chaos, with people fearing for their lives.

This story was inspired by the Mothman Prophecies, one of the greatest horror movies ever (IMHO)

Some detailed bits, and some language that was never in the original

NChat Alpha Logo - Full View

FULL VIEW OF THIS LOGO IS A MUST!! PNG DOES NOT RENDER WELL AT SMALL SIZE

This was a logo I created for my LAN chat program I am making (www.solidinc.tk if you want to see the logo in use). It's loosely based on a wallpaper that is bundled with some versions of Linux (KDE box I think it's called). It's a box because my program (Called NChat) is "Your Chat In A Box". This is the 2nd version of the logo. The first one was the same kinda thing, but from a strange angle. I like this one better. I have the logo in XCF (GIMP) format if anyone wants it to see how it was composed.

Let me know what you think. All kinds of feedback are welcome ;D

This was originally a joke told to me by my father. Characters are:

uh... That mousey, curved thing with a tail (and sometimes a pink bow)
Bubby, the thing with the round eyes and pointy hat (Just a compilation of some shapes in grade 1-2)
Dink, the little round thing with like 5 legs

Here is the original joke:

3 men at a Japanese technology convention were standing around showing off their latest gadgets. The first man says: "Hold on a second, I need to check the sports scores", so he pulls his sleeve up and turns on a TV embedded in his arm. The other 2 are amazed. Then the second Japanese man says "Hold on, I have a call coming through" and he holds his hand up to his ear and starts talking. The other 2 men wow at this. Then the third man clutches his backside and makes a dash for the bathroom. When he returns, the 2 men ask him if everything was OK. He looks at them and says:

"Sorry, I had a fax coming through"

The drawing was by me, but looked a little plain, so I "gimped" it up with some flashy gradients. The characters (Except the round thing with the pointed hat) was created by my good friend Michael N, and is used with his permission. He was a GREAT cartoonist, until he turned to catching snakes

I dunno. Should this have a mature content thingy coz of the nature of the joke? Lemme know and I'll change it

Frosty in the Garden

My precious little kitten. She is no longer with us, and I thought I'd post this picture for others to see. This was taken using a rather old camera (I can't remember the model etc.), and I tried playing around with the focus. The lighting seemed to be good on the day, because the sun was shining in the right spot, but the camera was obviously blind to that. I tried to hide the ugly shed in the background, but it didn't work

This picture was taken some years ago, between her first operation on her ears (Because of cancer ), and her second operation, just a few months before we had her put to sleep . I hope you enjoy it, I know she would have liked all the attention
