This was part of the adventure that the crew of the Grande Explorator series had witnessed on their way to the Center of the Universe:

This was just one stop out of many the crew has made to study all weird and mysterious anomalies the universe had to offer.
Little did they know that these magical lightnings and magnetic spectacle had its roots in the source of all we know and all we live in. The very Center of the Universe.

Just a small quick piece (about 3 hours or so).
Meant to remake the old Polaris piece a long time ago.
Finally got it done.

Just felt like painting something like this.
I'm a big fan of KARA (a korean group) nowadays, so I figured I'd paint something while using references from Kara's leader Park Gyuri

First of all: I know, this is almost the exact same image as the older version of Sapphire Blue, but there are some crucial changes to the piece.
I've read all your comments and your suggestions (thanks, everyone!) and decided to edit it.

The reason why I am uploading this as a new deviation and not just edit my older one, is, that I'm not quite sure, whether to like this new edited version or not.
So, I've removed the asteroids, the comet (which was way too random in my opinion) and enhanced the colours a bit.
On the one hand, without the asteroids I'm missing the dynamic and depth in this piece, but on the other hand, the overall composition is much better. What do you think?

Furthermore, with this project I have realized that my monitor needs a colour calibration. This will be a pain in the a**!

So anyways, I hope you like it, I'm not sure if I do myself. Maybe I'll decide to scrap one of the two versions later.

Personal comment
Well, after reinstalling windows for the 5th time, and then realising, that my harddisk practically died, I just had to do some art related stuff.

I'm pretty unhappy about this piece, mainly because there are some areas that didn't came out the way I wanted them to be.

mhh, actually, I concentrated my efforts more on the landscape itself, than on the other elements.

What it is:
Based on my newest terragenrender I rendered for 14 hours.
textures from cgtextures, pixelio and sxc.
same goes for the few references I used for the birds.

The enemy could easily counter-attack from all directions.

It's been a while

This was probably the most frustrating piece I've ever made..
Been sitting on this for more than 2 weeks;

I have also found some very cool star wars buildings on the web, I have used to some extent as reference for my buildings.
It has gone through various completely different steps.. you wouldnt associate the first one with the final step, except for the colors, though.

I downloaded about 40 cloud stocks from sxc.hu for cloud study.. the nebula is the result oO
wanted to add a handwritten copyright, but after I was finished, the tablet software crashed -.-

I was able to reduce the size to 1,4 gb ..phew
original dimensions: 6400px x 4800px (but without the stars.. I had to add them after resizing )

so basically everything is done by me, even the space shuttles. but i still suck at drawing objects

I hope I do not disappoint some of you because of the high expectations provided by my last piece and all the screenshots

updates may come in the next days.. I'm in a hurry somehow to finally submit this thing, because I have no spare time in the next days

I wanted to create a marslike planet this time.
The life in space in the eyes of a little floating asteroid .
I cannot believe it! I actually was able to finish this piece, since I already had little time left.
First time since months, I created asteroids again.
At first I had a different concept in mind, but well.. somehow I always change my mind during the creation of a piece.
And like always: Edits will be always possible some day.
