First off, I can see why a lot of people disagree with the following, and I even admit that a lot of the things I like are god awful.

1. I LIKED Godzilla vs. Megaguirus. Sure, it could have been a LOT better, but it did have a good amount of potential. Megaguirus is my favorite of the new Millennium era villain, Orga was meh and Monster X was all kinds of cliche. The Godzilla design is decent, it just needs to be more flexible and organic, and perhaps slimmer. The North Koreans test a bio nuclear weapon on an island chain in the South Pacific. This event, while never exposed to the public, caused great political controversy. The bio weapon also gives birth to a new ecosystem of giant mutations. The creatures remain in their habitat until  a strange event occurs, driving all the monsters off of the island...
