Dreamers

Many creative people work at night when the air is saturated with dreams.

I've had the idea in my mind for quite a while to do a piece about dreams and night-time inspiration. You know the kind where you have to flip on the lights and draw it out, turn them off again and get another idea. eue"

This is also more concept art for #MemoirduLune, a roleplaying group that me and =wispywaffle are building, of a library wing.

I had fun practising with the lighting and architecture, it was my first time trying to paint architecture and my first time trying to design my own. I tried to give it an organic and nonsensical feeling.

Circle of Life

This was originally something I was working on for the #Kingdom-Carousel charity artbook. I did learn a lot though, and it was lots of fun to do. It's not quite finished to my liking, but I feel that I've spent enough time on this piece and I would like to go work on something else now.

The clothing designs were inspired by a mix of different cultural clothing, african patterns and with a fantasy twist.

Curiosity

Complimentary piece to go with Dreamers. Dreams, imagination and childlike curiosity have always been the biggest inspirations for my art.

She's the little sister of Reën, who you might remember from some of my work. I've only painted them as children so far, but they have an eight year age gap, Reën being older.

Sorry for all the inactivity, I've been busy with university and have a wonderful man munching up the rest of my free time. You'll be seeing more work from me, and those old commissions I still need to finish up, throughout winter break. I hope everybody enjoys their holiday!

Crystalite Caverns

Concept art for #MemoirduLune, the roleplaying group that myself and =wispywaffle are building. Be sure to go and check it out if you enjoy fantasy settings and roleplaying...but be warned it's pretty messy still. ;u;

These are some of the openings to a location called the Crystalite Caverns, an underground maze of icy tunnels that, yes you guessed it, are full of crystals. The crystals closer to the entrances however (like these ones) are foggier and closer in appearance to stones.

Ancient Woods

Spanning over most of Espersia, the trees in the Ancient Woods are said to be as old as time itself. They are large to such a degree that the forest paths will often lead through the tree branches themselves, winding and curling into a maze in the sky.

You might remember these little fae sisters from my child and dragon graphite series. They don't have names yet, help me think of some? ;u;

Rust and Patches

A little more gloomy looking than my normal work, this is my soundscape project for my creative process class. We were able to chose the medium we worked with for this one, so I got to work in my little digital comfort box, but I played with some new things like perspective, limited colour palette and making it a little more abstract.

The project was to illustrate the journey that one of our five senses takes every day when we go to class. I live in a quieter part of the city, and have to travel trough the big noisy, polluted part for classes, and so I wanted to talk about all the sounds and issues I hear everyday.

This project is a portion of what will be my big semester-end project so it would be really helpful if you could take a look at it, with sound in mind, and tell me what you think it means before reading the following!

My little cellphone rings to draw me out of bed in the morning and starts my daily adventure. As I walk to my bustop I can hear birds chirping (and crows squawking) and other natural, peaceful sounds. When I get into the city city, sounds become a little different though.

I used the overhead piping as a blanket term to describe the sounds I hear in the city, industrial, mechanical, crowded, busy, cold and harsh sounds. Traffic, crowding of people on the cement side walks, factories, homeless people asking for money and people stepping over them and continuing on their way. The sounds of the city aren't perfect, the city has problems, just like pipes get cracks, but rather than fixing them, we'll put on a pretty patch instead. We wouldn't want it to affect tourism after all.

The sounds of the city are being fed to her though her mechanical headphones, numbingly loud sounds that are so ordinary now they're nothing but white noise, but with one earphone pulled back she listens to the sounds around her as they are.

Never too Little

You're never too little, in body or voice, to make the world a happier place.

Something quick and little for spirit day and for myself since spirit day is always around my birthday. It's a bit of a self portrait, and a bit in response to what happened around Amanda Todd. After I heard what happened the story about her on the news, I cried for hours and knew I was going to have to do a piece to get my feelings out.

I'm wearing so much purple today my great-grandma said I looked like a giant plum! My other clothes are green with envy /bricked

I'd like to also use this space to recommend Laci Green's Sex+ channel, you can find her on youtube. She covers pretty much everything you could want to know from social issues, to sexuality, body image, relationships, and sexual health, all from a positive and open minded perspective.

A Path to Follow

Auug I started this one a month ago, it was lots of fun to do and I really enjoyed doing a proper Lua and Mes piece. The glowing runes are from a series of rune patterns that I made when I was younger, and I was happy to find that I could incorporate them. The wips for this piece can be found on my Tumblr

Rain Maker Elemental

Little drawing of a Rain Maker, a water elemental from #MemoirduLune, an fantasy adventure roleplaying group me and =wispywaffle are in the process of making, this particular one is my character's familiar. Her face is actually a round white wooden mask.

Elementals possess characteristics of the environment around them. Their bodies are mostly made up of tangible compounds, thus allowing them to take on different forms. They are form shifters, so not all Rain Makers will look similar to this one, one might have a body shape more like a deer, a bear, a wolf, or something all together undefined.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about commissions! I don't get a super lot of free time to draw usually, but I have four days off from work this week so I'll be drawing lots!

Elementals

I thought I would share some of my planning designs for #MemoirduLune, a roleplaying group that myself and =wispywaffle are currently working on. Feel free to give it a browse, but we're still very in the process of creating it so much of the information is incomplete and messy.

These aren't the final designs, just some ideas I wanted to draw out. The elementals are made up of elements from the environment around them, and my idea was for them to be mostly made of changeable compounds (such as water, fire, ect), so that each one could be unique, but still recognizable.

_{I haven't been able to come up with a name for the last one (ice/snow elemental) so if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them!

edit2: My Nymph design is not a pokemon, but thank you to the many people who pointed out the likeness. It's based off of an older character that I designed before the pokemon black and white series was released, but with the addition of a dress I can see the resemblance. I don't keep up to date with all of the pokemon, since there is far too many of them, so I'd never heard of Liligant before people pointed it out.

The Undersea Forest

The ocean has always fascinated me; there's so many wondrous and curious creatures that live there. What has always intrigued me most about the sea, though, is that there's so many things that we don't yet know about it, and so much left to be discovered. Because of this, there's lots of room for imagination.

Cheesy, write up is cheesy. I've been wanting to try *Apofiss's bubble tutorial, and to try my hand at digital painting again for a while now.

I love designing characters so much ;v;

Edit: No this is not Ponyo, I didn't even know what Ponyo was before drawing this. This is a character that I designed based on the concept of a jellyfish and a toadstool, thus the title.

Hello There Little One

Hello there little one...

The earth themed piece from my children and dragon pencil series, and also a piece that I included in my university portfolio. I chose these subjects for my series because I have a passion for drawing contrasting things in harmony with each other.

I really enjoyed designing these three characters, especially since nature themed characters are a favorite of mine! Dragon anatomy still confuses me a lot though, since there's no standard way to draw them. ;u;

Spirit of winter

I decided to make a three-part pencil work series of children with dragons to compliment an older piece that I did for an art contest. This time I designed the characters myself.

My laptop is in getting repaired again ;n; It's going to be a brand new computer on the inside before it runs properly. I wont have it back for a few weeks so I'm dipping into my stash of hoarded artwork. Unfortunately I lost the cleaned version of this, but if I find it I will update this piece.

Hydraulics

Medusa

Playing around with some Photoshop CS6 brushes, I ended up painting over some of the lines in Sai. The soundscape picture I submitted before is going to be expanded on and part of my final projects for the class, so I wanted to experiment with grungier/stony brush strokes.

I've been wanting to do a scene painting with a childlike Medusa for a really long time now but I haven't had the time, maybe during Christmas break.

Ahh it's my birthday in a week and I have to go get an old filling refilled and possible get a root canal, happy birthday to me. I find as I get older birthdays seem to be getting less and less magical. ;u;"

Bambi

I found this semi-old sketch on my usb and decided to colour it for fun. I like using the sketch as lineart but the pencil marks make my colours all messy so I still need to learn how to clean my pencil sketches better. ;u; The sketch was from a series of baby animal drawings I did several months ago, there was a fox, and owl and some other ones too.

I hope you're all having a really great start to your summer! Ours has started off by raining most of the time. ;u;

Okami Amaterasu

A little drawing I did a few days ago to destress and play around with my brush settings. I went snowboarding last weekend at Mt.Baker for my first time and I ended up face planting and tumbling quite a ways about half way down the mountain...and then I went down it several more times. It was fun, but my everything hurt too much the next few days so all I've been doing is laying around, doodling and watch movies.

Fishy Kisses

When I was little I used to give people kisses by touching my nose to theirs...when my little sister was littler she used to give people kisses by hitting her head against theirs. xD Anyways that's where the idea for this came from, and I wanted to draw something lighthearted.

Do you love the ocean and want to learn about ways that you can help protect it? National Geographic has put out an article [link] that I strongly encourage you to read.

I hope everybody is having a really fun spring break! I'm bleh sick right now so mine so far has consisted of drawing, reading Sherlock Holmes and drinking lots of tea. ;3; I'll hopefully still be going skiing and to Portland next week though!

Toothless and Hiccup

Toothless and Hiccup from the movie How To Train Your Dragon. I would like to point our that hugging your dragon is not very effective training. ;u;

Somehow when ever I try to draw pants they come out as shorts instead. >w>

I became very excited when I found out we owned the movie and ended up doodling lots of toothless and Hiccup. I'm not too happy with the way this turned out, my coloring is so boring. ;u;
