His backstory was changed when they made the shift from the arcade version to the TG-16 version, but I prefer the original arcade version.

His true identity is Myoshima, a salesman who works for a rival company.
Myoshima and the main character Nakamura are rivals in battle, while the companies they work for are rivals in the corporate world.
To top it all off, Myoshima and Nakamura live in the same neighborhood (they just don't know it).

Bravoman is technically categorized as a comical hero, but I believe comical heroes are the most difficult to depict.
If the hero is uncool, you almost expect him to mess up or be silly, so it's not really funny when he does.
In order to be effectively humorous, a comical hero must be cool first. (this is my own personal opinion)

Bravoman is not a sharp, cool type character by default because Nakamura is a nice guy (too nice, in fact) and that personality seeps out even when he is Bravoman.
As a result, his character feels rounded and even a bit slow at times.
The secret to Bravoman's awesomeness is awesome enemies. By having him face enemies that have their act together, it brings out Nakamura's (Bravoman's) innate awesomeness.

Therefore, I like Black Bravo.

On a side note, when I saw the Black Sea Bravo in the TG-16 version, it was so cute it made me laugh.

アーケード版とＰＣエンジン版では設定が変わってしまいましたが
元々のアーケード版の設定が好きです。

彼の正体は妙島（みょうしま）、主人公ナカムラが勤める会社の
ライバル会社に勤めるセールスマンです。
しかも、ご近所さんのようです（本人たちは気づいていない）

ベラボーマン自体はコミカルヒーローにカテゴリされると思うのですが
コミカルヒーローは、とても難しい題材です。
かっこ悪いヒーローがズッコケるのは、ある意味、当たり前すぎて
面白くありません。
まず、かっこよくなければコミカルな演出も映えないのです。
（一般的な話ではなく、私個人の考えです）

ベラボーマンは、ナカムラの人の良さがにじみ出てる為か
どこかとぼけた所があります。
が、脇を固める敵役に、ある種のかっこよさを入れる事で
ナカムラ（ベラボーマン）の持つかっこいい部分が生きてくるのです。

ブラックベラボー、大好きなキャラです。

余談ですが、ＰＣエンジン版では海の中に
ブラック・シーベラボーが出てきた時は

I loved the Bravoman game.
The game takes place in the late '60s, early '70s when Japan was really prospering. (I was born in 1972)
Many of Japan's superheroes are based in this era. That is to say, many superheroes were created in Japan during this time.
(Kamen Rider, Ultraman, etc.)

Bravoman was created after this era, so I find it interesting that they specifically based the game on this time period.
The main character Hitoshi Nakamura (known in the English version as Arnold) is your average businessman with a wife and two children.
He's a guy who juggles two careers, one as a bread-winner and one as a superhero. In some ways, I consider him to be the epitome of fatherhood.

As an extra bit of trivia, I got the "Hitoshi" part of my pen name from "Hitoshi Nakamura".
That's how much I like him.

This game is very memorable for me because I would always stop by the arcade on my way home from school just to play Bravoman.
I would only let myself insert one coin per day, but that training eventually made me so good at the game that I would be able to clear the entire game on one coin.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of the new Bravoman comic by Matt and Dax!

The series was aired on television back when I was still in elementary school, and when I was doing these pieces, I didn't dream the series would last this long and be going so strong. (even though I totally love it)

Seriously. Back in the day, the toys didn't sell well and it was canceled due to a lack of popularity!
It was the re-runs that garnered interest, which led to the release of a movie, and that in turn gave way to greater sales of the model kits.
That's how the series earned the strong following it enjoys today.
If they hadn't aired the re-runs, it's quite possible that this masterpiece would have been forgotten in the folds of time.

Truly, it's impossible to foresee what will act as a catalyst for popularity.

日本で、ファーストガンダムのムックの仕事をしたときのカラーです。

サムライのチョンマゲにアゴヒゲ…でも、それがメカっぽくてかっこいいという
不思議なデザインです。私が小学生の頃にTV放映してたのですが、
今でも続編が制作され、人気が出るとはこの時に想像していませんでした。
（大好きだったんですけども）

だって、このアニメはオモチャが売れず、人気も無くて打ち切りだったんですから！

ちなみに、放映終了後の再放送で人気が出て
劇場版が公開され、そこからプラモデルが売れるようになり
今の人気につながっていきました。
再放送が無かったら、知る人ぞ知る名作として埋もれてたかもしれません。

サムライのチョンマゲにアゴヒゲ…でも、それがメカっぽくてかっこいいという
不思議なデザインです。私が小学生の頃にTV放映してたのですが、
今でも続編が制作され、人気が出るとはこの時に想像していませんでした。
（大好きだったんですけども）

だって、このアニメはオモチャが売れず、人気も無くて打ち切りだったんですから！

ちなみに、放映終了後の再放送で人気が出て
劇場版が公開され、そこからプラモデルが売れるようになり
今の人気につながっていきました。
再放送が無かったら、知る人ぞ知る名作として埋もれてたかもしれません。

ホント、人気って何がきっかけになるか分からないですね。

I altered the eye on the body so that it would look like a button instead once the head was in place. The eye is similar to the eyes used on the raccoon minion from MM6.

データが消される前に、ソフト内にいたポケモンを引き取りました。
その中の一匹が、このラグラージです。

GBAの頃から旅してきたポケモンで（ポケモンのプロフィールで見れます）
元のご主人と沢山の旅をしたであろうこの子は、今では私の大事な仲間です。
対戦をしはじめた初期の頃は、うちのパーティのエースでした。

今でも、彼の子孫のラグラージ達が対戦で活躍しています。

Mismagius is the evolved form of my favorite Pokémon, Misdreavus, so I use Mismagius quite often. At first, when I wasn't used to Mismagius yet, I kept trying to raise it as an offensive Pokémon, but it didn't stand a chance against Gengar. Once I figured out that Mismagius performs better as a support Pokémon, I started winning more battles with it. All of the trial and error I went through with Mismagius makes it that much more endearing to me.

ムウマージは大好きなムウマの進化系なので使っています。
最初の頃は慣れてなくてアタッカーとして育成してたのですが
どうしてもガチンコでゲンガーに勝てず、補助を使ったサポートポケモンだと割り切ったら、
やっと勝てるようになりました。
試行錯誤を繰り返したので、愛着のあるポケモンです。

When I first started playing Pearl, a lot of people recommended that I try Spiritomb, but I it just didn't feel like the right fit for me. I tried using Sableye instead, and found that they had more useful skills. I'm a big Sableye fan now.

パールを遊び始めた頃、散々ミカルゲの使用を勧められたのですがどうも使用感にピンとこず、
ヤミラミを使ってみたらこっちの方が器用な技を覚えてくれるんで、今ではすっかりヤミラミ派です。

I started using Wobbuffet because its "Shadow Tag" ability sounded like fun. A Wobbuffet on your team in a double battle can be a powerful ally, and it wasn't until later that I found out it's considered taboo to include a Wobbuffet in double battles outside of Japan.

ソーナンスは、特性「かげふみ」が面白くて使い始めたポケモンです。
ダブルバトルでは、組み合わせ次第で物凄い強さを発揮します。
日本国外では禁止ポケモンだということは、後から知りました…
