This was created as a vector illustration in Illustrator. Been meaning to draw a whole comic (okay, at least one page!) with vector art, as it gives me the cleanest possible line art (I ain't no Alex Toth!).

LoliPop and Cup Cat are characters I've been using for some years now in my comic book workshops. They're used in the storytelling demos where I let the kids come up with the story as I draw it. I've been meaning to draw an actual comic with these characters, and felt that a poster comic would be as good as place as any to bring them to a larger audience.

It's been like 8 months since my last Poster Comic..... I got busy with the Dead Dinosaurio comic, and subsequent promotion. Then the holidays, and with the new year, a whole pile of things calling for my undivided attention. But getting this comic done felt really good, and it was fun as heck!

Poster Comic for August (made it with a week to spare!)

This is a character I've had in mind for a few years now. Like most artists could attest to, there are tons of characters and ideas swimming around in our sketchbooks, some waiting for a chance to make the leap. This Poster Comic series gives me an outlet for some of these ideas.

The biggest influence on this particular story? It's got to be LIVE AND LET DIE, the 1973 James Bond movie. The original Ian Fleming novel (published on 1954) also provided a lot of creative inspiration. While far from a spy story, this comic also deals with my fascination with the supernatural. At least as an engine for creating stories.

I've just finished my first comic of 2012, a brand-new poster comic called 'TO BE CONTINUED'. Like my inaugural poster comic, HAUNTED HOLIDAYS (which was released in December of 2011), this one is also done at an 11X17 format so it can be printed up as, well, a poster comic!
