Sketchpaint Bird

I was trying to decide what to do for my sketchpaint today when someone sent me this image of a green bird they were using as their desktop background. I thought it would make an excellent texture and color study so I used it as a reference - though I didn't maintain the original colors. I'm rather happy with how it turned out! Took a little over an hour to do.

Oh and for those that don't know, here is some pimpage for my art blog. I upload some things there that don't see the light of day here on DA.

Another image done for A Game of Thrones. This one was particularly fun for me to do because they gave me free reign of the pose and composition. I used an anatomy reference by [link] (great ref pics here!).

This is actually a slightly modified version of the first image I submitted to them, and I prefer the look of the first one more. I'm not quite sure why since the changes are very small, but either way I decided to upload the one that will be printed

This is probably the last speed paint for a while. It's a little more stylized that the others I guess. Just having fun with it. Probably took an hour and a half or so? Hard to say because I had to stop and do other things while I was working on it, and I was saving out my steps as I worked to show a friend. I should probably go to sleep now. o_o

Yeah the face is all kinds of messed up but it's 6:30 am here and I haven't slept. I'm ultra tired. I have no idea why she's floating in a bundle of fabric, but she is, haha. Just under an hour for this one.

Yup, another guildie portrait. I actually think this one could have used a little more work but I got so exhausted while working on it that I couldn't finish detailing the way I normally may have. The guy I did it for seemed to love it to pieces though - so success!

I sort of like painting profiles so I figured my image today would be just that. I also wanted to play around with a sort of unique color scheme. I spent about an hour on her.

Flimgurd

This is a flimgurd. He's a small cave gobllin that likes to annoy adventurers by stealing their food, throwing rocks at them, burping loudly, and drooling everywhere.

The art nouveau style was done for a bonus theme from the rpg-ish group art project I've been taking part in. I was originally going to do a little more on it but I was getting pretty tired and I didn't want to burn out.

Just under an hour for this one. I felt like painting a fishy! I actually found a photo on DA that I used as a bit of a "pose" reference - if fish even pose at all, haha. I took some creative liberties with the look of him/her though. I was in the mood to do something somewhat colorful.

Decided to paint my WoW character since there aren't enough badass orc bitches out there. I would almost consider this a speed paint except for the fact that I had to put a little more effort into it since this sort of thing is slightly outside my comfort zone. Took maybe 4-5 hours in Photoshop.

My cats managed to lure out some cute little finches onto my patio (they were putting up an aggressive show to protect their nest I'd guess). I got a few shots and even though they were outside they had a really neat studio-type appearance that I liked.

Warcraft fan art. A portrait of the Banshee Queen Sylvanas. For those that don't know the story, she used to be a high elf general and was killed, made into a mindless banshee slave, and eventually rewarded her corpse to reinhabit. She started to develop an awareness. kicked some ass, and started ruling the Undercity. That's it in a super nutshell - roughly. So this is her being haunted by images of her past that she can't quite reach. I also submitted this piece to the Blizzard art contest.
