For this one I was really happy just to re-use elements from previously rendered brooches. Because of this the center circle part (with the largest red "gem") is actually not perfectly accurately sized. It is actually smaller, but that would mean that I would have to re-draw part of the heart where it joins and forms...well, heart testicles. And F that.

Once you've rendered heart testicles, you'll never do it again.

So, um, almost done! ]]>

(And if you haven't go to the Elfquest site, and read it, cuz Wendy & Richard (gods that they are) are posting their entire collection on line for free reading).

This part of the comic was drawn by Barry Blair, and I make no secret that I do not like his art. I thought there should have been so much more power in this whole story, and considering Darts reaction when it was all over I really thought he should have been portrayed as more violent and more crazed.

Just a heads up the full 100 are ALL going to be Elfquest fanart, and they'll all have element of this paper background. I have decided, paper backgrounds rule.

This, in case you can't tell, or don't know is Savah and her lifemate Yurek. He was a rock shaper that fell to his death a long, long, long time ago... Some people (manga!) have said that the *sob* is too Emo for Savah, but I don't care. It visually works in the composition, so just, put your finger over it or something if it bugs you.

Besides, collaping atop the mangled body of your dead lover is, kinda Emo, isn't it? Hopefully she wrote some poetry about it later and dyed her hair black.

Just a heads up the full 100 are ALL going to be Elfquest fanart, and they'll all have element of this paper background. I have decided, paper backgrounds rule.

This, in case you can't tell, or don't know is Savah and her lifemate Yurek. He was a rock shaper that fell to his death a long, long, long time ago... Some people (manga!) have said that the *sob* is too Emo for Savah, but I don't care. It visually works in the composition, so just, put your finger over it or something if it bugs you.

Besides, collaping atop the mangled body of your dead lover is, kinda Emo, isn't it? Hopefully she wrote some poetry about it later and dyed her hair black.

As some of you from the scroll of colors may know my father passed away in 2007 after a short but serious illness. I started the sketch on what was the most tumultuous night of my life-which I would later learn was to be the last day of my fathers life. I have this whole long explanation of how I thought it was Redlance who found Medka's body in the snow after the attack on the Go-Back Lodge....but it was actually Pike. So sorry Pike for kicking you out of the picture, but Redlance was so shell-shocked about that whole experience that he fit best.

I'm too lazy too color his clothing, but it doesn't need it anyway.

So this is part photo-manip part illustration. It was a design I did for one of the interior CD covers for the 3rd season of Ghost Whisperer, and the producers liked it so much they decided to use it for the cover of their new book.

Apparently there was an ad where this image was displayed 40 ft. high at Time Square in New York during the Macy's parade...I saw pictures...it was pretty surreal... ]]>

I feel like I'm starting to do better with likenesses of characters, which I'm stoked about. This is also the first time I've really drawn wolves, so be gentle. The great thing about drawing Elves in a pile of furs is that if you don't want to draw something, put some fur over it! That's not why Strongbow has some fur over his crotch, it's so he doesn't accidentally teabag Chitter. (And if you don't know what teabagging is- it's where you put your balls one someone's head. I don't know why anyone would want to do this, but then again, I don't have balls.)

Apparently the Elves in Elfquest have a standard offensive play when their land in threaten, and one of the things they do is called: "The Lure"....where they appear to humans in all their nekkid glory and then lure them away to the humans detriment. Hence the prompt: Danger Ahead. I did for a bit think about doing the "strategically placed leaf" thing, but really...that always annoys me. Either draw it or don't. That's my philosophy. But having your fiance snorting over your shoulder as you try to render Elven junk is a bit... embarrassing.

Now, I've only ever seen it illustrated with female Elves doing the luring, but hey, I'm all for equal opportunity nudity. Plus you have to assume that Skywise always volunteers first when it comes to pant-less jobs. Now this drawing spawned a conversation with my fiance about Elves and circumcision...but I'll spare you the details.

This was one of the cover variants for the 1st issue of the Ghost Whisperer comic published by IDW. This was kinda a terrifying piece for me to do because it was my first professional foray into comics. And there was a family emergency that happened with my contact at IDW the week that I was working on it...so I had no idea what kind of process they wanted, if they wanted to give feedback during the piece or anything...so I just winged it. And I'm pretty happy with the result.

I never actually saw any of my comics in stores though, by the time I found out they were released my covers were all sold out! Yay! ....which is just as well cuz I probably would have lost my mind and started signing them randomly or, licking them, or something. lol.

Needless to say I had TONS of reference for this and I modeled the dress from a Victoria's Secret dress that I totally wish I'd bought. XD ]]>

We had to work from an external copy (not a copy on the computer), and we were judged by the print in comparison to the copy we worked from. The colors had to be perfect, and the copy needed to be down to the brushstroke perfect. Oh, and we had to make it huuuuge...the original is about 14 inches wide and 300 dpi...so it was a good think it was all done on one layer! lol

This was not expected. I HAD to work tonight, but I saw a really inspiring color study from someone on dA and I thought I would just make a quick study, and then BAM, done! The whole thing took only 2.5 hrs and I am glowing. I never paint this fast, and I never paint this well without mad time and mad reference. And for me personally I think this is my best work to date. Oh and I'm in love with my cintiq, and in lust. In deep lust, like I can't keep my hands off it.

This was not expected. I HAD to work tonight, but I saw a really inspiring color study from someone on dA and I thought I would just make a quick study, and then BAM, done! This is probably the only good picture of Zelda in existence. She's 3 now, chubby, sweet tempered but not too bright, and whenever you point a camera on her she acts like she's too sleepy to open her eyes. So I have a lot of photos of her looking fat and drugged. ]]>
