The idea came to me to try the idea of combining mediums, and having been reading a lot of books on Disney animation and principles lately something in my mind went 'What would you get if you cross Street Fighter with Disney?'. The answer is a new series I'm starting called 'Disney Fighter', in which I'm gonna Street Fighter-ise a bunch of characters from the house of mouse.

First up, Cinderella. This was a lot of fun to do coz it gave me an excuse to redo her backstory to turn her into a ninja warrior. I looked at all the promo artwork for Street Fighter 4 and tried to emulate the style of the illustrations whilst also trying to keep the look of the Disney character. I've never really tried doing Manga style artwork before so this was a bit challenging at first but I think it's not too bad for a first effort. Done in Painter and Photoshop in about 6-7 hours. If anyone has any particular Disney characters they'd like to see Street Fighter-ise put your suggestions in the comments.

Decided to get back into some illustration as it’d been some time since I last did something substantial. Had this idea a few years back to do ‘real life’ interpretations of animated films/TV series but never really went beyond rough concepts and sketches, but having recently started watching many of the Disney classics for the first time in nearly 20 years I thought it’d be worth giving the idea a second look at. My first one is a reinterpretation of The Little Mermaid, tried to keep the spirit of the animated design whilst giving a few realistic touches here and there, I also listened to Ariel’s rather haunting theme song a few times to try and capture the mood of that particular song within the image but I’m not sure if I got the result I wanted. Was thinking about adding her sea pals Flounder and Sebastian but couldn’t really work them into the image so I scrapped the idea. I really looked at Vallejo and Bell’s artwork heavily when making this, especially their mermaid paintings, their artwork proved to be a fantastic resource to reference. Done in Painter using Acrylics and Gouache, probably close to 20 hours work, about 6 of that on water. I’m thinking this will be the first of a series of illustrations.
Something a bit different. I started this like 18 months ago, then totally forgot about it until I stumbled across it the other week, I figured I should finish it.

A bit of back story first, I'm one of the 12 Australians who actually likes NFL football, during the early 90's when there was an NFL craze at my school and everyone else was supporting the Dallas Cowboys I decided to defy convention and choose a completely non-glamorous team, in this case the Denver Broncos, however I was the one laughing last as they won a couple of Super Bowls a few years later. I referenced an image of one of the Broncos cheerleaders, her name is Laura although it doesn't look like she's part of the Broncos cheer squad roster any longer. Done in Gouache in Corel Painter, the background done in Photoshop, hard to say how long it took overall to complete, I'd say at least 12 hours.
