Boy have I been waiting to post this one!

I had been trying of and on to draw my own version of the Mario gang with the only problem being that I would only think of tackling the task when tagging along with a friend who's group of friends were all gamers... that went on for maybe a couple of years with no success.

Then one night out at the theater when Watchmen came out Hawt Girl (yes, the very same Hawt Girl that I'm always drawing) asked me to draw a picture of Mario for her friend Liliana and I said "sure, I'll knock out a good one for you tomorrow"... it turns out that's all the motivation I really needed, I'm always at my best when I feel that I'm drawing something for someone and the very next morning I knocked out this sketch.

I knew from the moment that I drew this picture that I couldn't post the lines here. The hastily drawn Princess Peach I drew years ago for Anime Vegas has to be the most requested picture in my gallery that colorists have wanted to take a stab at and I just couldn't stand the thought of seeing the bright video game colors on this picture (which has already happened a couple of times with a separate Mario that Ive' drawn) when I drew the brothers here to be a bit more gritty, they are plumbers after all.
So there was only one man for the job! >

One of the unexpected effects was that after seeing the colors on this picture and reading the comments on it in Thistle's gallery was that a Pandora's Box of repressed memories from my childhood was opened.

Sometimes I can't belive my luck.
I've had the chance to work or collaborate with many of the artist I've admired for years.
In this case Mr. Dapper Dan Schoening

I'm done with the artwork that I want formy first ashcan sketchbook and am well into knocking out sketches for a second. I'm trowing in a lot of things I liked as a kid and still love today, one of those things just happens to be the Ghostbusters and when I came accross that on my to-do list I was stumped... should I draw the original cast?, maybe I should make up something new?... then it hit me, who is the biggest Ghostbuster fan I know... DAN!!!

And only he just happened to also be the most suitible artsit to bring my dinky little sketches to life!

From the Comic Oasis archive.

Man! Skutterfly did a bang up job on this retro cover featuring Hawt Girl, the mascot of Comic Oasis [link] of which I am it's go-to sketchy person.

I guess I had better explain her origin given the theme of this piece...

The second task that was handed to me for Comic Oasis was to come up with a bunch of signs for the free range book shelves around the shop and for many of them I came up with original designs and characters, when it came to the "Hot New Items" sign I drew a simple super hero girl next to the title.
A couple weeks or so later I came back to the shop and to my surprise I come to find out that people wanted to know more about this character, one guy even asked me what her name was that very day and being the genius that I am I took one quick look at the Hot New Items sign and said "Hot Girl" not even giving it much thought...
The next time I came into the shop everyone knew her name...
I gotta watch what I say in this shop!

The name shortly after deviated to "Hawt Girl" and here we are!

I've had this idea to make a series of iconic portraits of some of my favorite Batman characters but I needed somebody I could trust to get the colors just right and really bring them to life and that person was Copperthistle

I finally found the perfect piece to collaborate on with Frank Rapoza!
Frank is fellow Las Vegas resident and artist that I've been wanting to collaborate with for a while and this just seemed perfect, given that I know he's worked with Otis Frampton (creator of Oddly Normal) and has a special connection with the Oddly Normal books himself.
