Hi everyone! I havent read the books myself, but Im highly interested in the film. I imagined in my depiction of Lena, that she would turn dark, but there would be inner turmoila fight to keep her individuality and control her own nature. That even though Lena is clothed in darkness, the light that lingers inside her somehow manages to burn though. Inner Light, Outer Darkness.

Hello fellow Deviants!

been a long since i've posted anything new-- just been super preoccupied with things and life. But, I am ready to start posting again. Over the next two weeks I hope to upload two commisions that have been pending that have some pretty cool concepts-- for Kimi and Ringo (if you're reading)

As for this peice-- It started out as a sketch that I decided to take a bit further-- It's simple--one of the few sketches I've been able to do in a long while and it was sooo fun to draw. Just one of those sketches that allowed me to clear my head. Special thanks to =00AngelicDevil00 for the lovely cloud brush sets-- which I used as reference.

A unique place of my owna one of a kind unparalleled location just for me would have to be a place of exploration and adventure, fun and excitement with much to do and much to see! Dr. Pepperland is a place that combines several interests of mines. I love waterfalls, fountains, big cities and monorail systems, and hot air balloon ridesSo it seemed only natural that my vision of Dr. Pepperland would be a big city, much like home with buildings and shapes inspired after Dr. Pepper Bottlesa fall like Niagara with a river walk to boot with a monorail system to take you anywhere you need to go; lets not forget, fountains of Dr. Pepper for everyone to enjoy and my favoriteSoda bubble rides with an adoring crowd of people interacting in harmony with one anotherenjoying all the sights and sounds and things to do! Hope you enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed painting it!

Life and Death-redone

Another contest I was invited to participate in-- by Attache who has also commisioned me!

This is Life and Death-- again. For a while now I had wanted to redo the couple and had worked out a few comps but when I saw the references for Vannessa Lake I knew she'd be the perfect model for this.

I got a lot of inspiration from Frank Franzetta,

I may need to lighten it up-- colors tend to show up way brighter on my work computer. This is all digital-- with traditional sketch of course-- made to look paintly. I was really going for looseness like in Franzetta's work and I took a lot of inspiration from his choice of colors too

When I heard about this contest I nearly flipped-- the preview of Scott Pilgrim alone was enough to wow me-- saw the movie twice, loved it!

So I came up with Billy Herbit-- The simplest way to describe him is as the Sensitive Guy or Nice Guy. He and Ramona dated for about a day, he's ultra sensitive, very emotional and likes...welll plushy things-- hates sad things, and dosn't believe in violence-- except for when it comes to Scott! He fights with possessed angry teddies!

Really enjoyed this!

One of the commisions I've just recently finished. I have a few others in the works but this one by far is the biggest-- 20x30 inches, 300dpi. I scaled it down to make it easier to upload.

The idea was to make it look as much like traditional paint as possible. For the time limit I had on this I'd say I did pretty well. The rule I followed-- NO ERASING OR UNDOING-- if I made a mistake, had to paint over it just like traditional. It's a new flow for me-- but I rather enjoyed it.

By the way-- I'm still open for commisions! I've been heck a busy-- you can expect to see some additional ones-- I havn't been uploading all of them but you can expect to see some more. Anywhos-- onto the next order of business

I'm a huge fan of MMORPGs, and I've always loved the being the magical creature of them all-- particularly of the flame sort because you have the benefit of having magic and causing a lot of damage So this is my Sorceress of Flame. Enjoy. I nearly killed my hand painting it. Only thing I wish I could have elbaorated on was her costume, but I flat ran out of time >_<;

Sometimes I feel like my mind is flipping channels-- cluttered up with so many thoughts, I struggle focusing at times-- just one of those things I've learned to deal with! After all, it does keep me from bored or idle minded! This is another sketch in my sketcbook-- 5.5x8.5" Took me a few days to get all those thoughts in there...hardest thing about it, couldn't think of what to write, lol!

My Butterfly

My Butterfly is a time-line illustration where a butterfly follows this little girl through her life, on into old age. She sees it when she's young, follows it, and it's caught by a little boy, which turns into a young romance, the two get older, get married, have children, her husband gets sick, and dies, but the butterfly is still there to lead her on. I drew this about a year ago for a class assignment but the first one I drew was so crappy-- I stashed it away >_< and it got stained with coffee....so I re-drew it just for the heck of it and completely changed the storyline and added a ton more detail. I dunno, maybe somewhere in the future I'll go at it again and see what comes out of it. It took 3 scans to get the whole thing on the computer. I did a little touch up since the scans were crappy, so, yeah

Liberal Arts- Final

The assignment was to pick an illustrator, in my case, Norman Rockwell, pic a decade to which that illustrator was at his peak, choose a subject matter and compose an illustration relevant to the chosen decade, and paint in the artist's style.

I have not done any traditional paintings in about five years, and working on such a small format (5x7in) was an added challenge--becuase...it aint easy whamming a whole lot of detail in on such a tiny workspace. I was late in doing it. In fact, I havn't slept in two days x_x. I say it took me about 6-7 hrs to complete this illustration. The problems I had is getting used to painting in acrylics, and working without any photo references. I was also short on supplies, so there were no drafts.

All in all it turned out well. The assignment was actually due today, but I found out during class that the date to turn in our finals changed to next week x_x...I'm releaved I got my work done ahead of time, but a little annoyed that I missed out on sleep.

WORK IN PROGRESS- WIP
A friend of mine, here on DA, SKTAF asked what this one meant. She wasn’t the first because a lot of folk thought it kind of creepy that this woman has a Bird Cage for a chest. I like to think of it this way: Women look for that special someone who will make their heart sing-- and while they entertain the opposite sex with sweet love songs and shows of affection, the fear of being hurt, or having known the pain of being hurt, or even the unrealistically high expectations women have set on men have become a cage which locks their heart away from truly accepting and knowing.

The heart is a precious thing; therefore it should be guarded carefully, and not passed around to anyone who will take it, as some do. But, it should not be locked away because of fear, past bad experiences, or high expectations.

I would love to do more with this one—by adding more birds and tightening it up, buuut this is about as far as I’m going to get on it for a while, with all the commissions I have occupying my time. It’s sometimes rare that I have the opportunity to indulge in my own work ^_^. Perhaps you can give me some suggestions for some birds to include in the composition.

A new work in progress. I just got done with several commisions and decided to spend the holiday working with a new set of brushes I got for adobe. I plan to tighten the illustration up but still try to keep the rough charcoal look to it and work on the feathers of her dress.

It's hard to say where I drew my inspiration with this one. Funny thing, I can't even remember how this one got started. Maybe you can tell, but it's about an older woman who's suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. In her room, she has photo albums sprawled out, old toys and mementos, with pictures hanging from the ceiling, trying desperately not to forget the memories of her past.

Good or bad, however big or small, a memory is a precious thing, and collectively they define who we are. I’m reminded of something I did once when I was a kid. I wrote a letter to my future self, stashed it away on my computer, so that by the time I read it, I will have forgotten all about it. Sure enough, I stumbled upon the letter while I was cleaning out some files, and boy was it hilarious! It was like I was getting schooled by a complete stranger! It made for a good laugh, but more importantly it reminded me of the simple days. I had such high expectations of myself, based on the letter I wrote. I expected I’d be doing this and doing that! But by the time I read the letter, I had forgotten all about those dreams. I got distracted with work to the point where the dreams I had as a child gently slipped away from me.

I think many people can sympathize with this woman because most have experienced the slipping away of our precious memories. Where did the dreams of our youth go? Where and when did we lose our ambition? Have we forgotten why it is we loved what we love?

Just a thought, really. It's going to be a while before I finish this one, so I decided to just post it up for now.

This is just a silly little thing I decided to do to compare my old work with the newer stuffs!

Wow... A lot surely has changed in the past ten years. Back then, I was still drawing on lined paper. The only medium I used was Crayola Crayons, and I hadn't advanged to my mom's printer paper yet I used color pencil and maker to remake the girl. She was actually the first character I ever made-- Star Marie Gazingburg. Dumb name huh? I was such a genius It's nice, looking back and seeing how far I've come as an artist.

A long time ago there was this TV show about how mankind was no longer able to reproduce, except for this one woman who had become pregnant, and the nations began to war over her or something like that, so that's where I drew my inspiration from. From the heart of the jungle, the saints gather to bear witness to a new generation. With this, I was trying to break more into textured digital art, learning different techniques to make my work more "painterly" I've got a long ways to go, but, I'm getting there Constructive Critisim is welcome

I like to imagine what a relationship between Life and Death would be like. I'm lead to believe that Death would be fascinated with Life, and Life subject to death would be both content and despairing. Not sure if that's the right choice of words, but it's fun to picture the two in a different light.

This place is from a scene in a roleplay with my friend. I started it a while back and just recently decided to finish it. It's an underground library where the roots of the trees soak up knowlege from hte waters of time, lol or whatever. It's been a long while, my memory isn't fresh but, that's what it is.

I did my best to go the colors right.. for some reason things display entirly different on my work computer than other computers. *sigh*

Echidna is another character from the roleplay between my friend and I. Though Echidna dosn't look it, she's not a villian. She's very loyal and dedicated to her master whom she loved dearly. Unfortuantly she died at her masters hands when her love was corrupt by her insanity. It wasn't intended, but she turned out to look like the chick off Elfen Lied, lol. DARN, even down to the nakedness. She usually wears all red clothes though.

With everything I do, I like to give myself a challenge. This illustration was a bit difficult becuase I had never done an underwater scene before. Overall I enjoyed the whole experience, though I feel I could have captured the feel of an underwater discovery much better.
