This read-through of the Wheel of Time has not lessened my distaste for poor Mat's situation in that Tarisin Palace, but then again it has re-enforced my opinion that the ta'veren are all wusses in a lot of ways.

You know how to stop a queen from forcing her advances on you Mat? Punch her in the face and weave her hair into the tassels of one of her blankets. She\'ll have to wear it as a HAT!

Along with Flinn I think Narishma is one of my favorite Asha'man. I seem to remember him described as a big-eyed boy trying with all his might to look imposing. Somehow he ended up looking like Ushio, but whatevs. I've been trying to visualize the Arafellin braid-bell combo and this is what I've settled on.

I hope he never dies.

I've always liked Damer. And golly guy, thanks for saving Rand when he almost died by being inexplicably incapable of fighting Padan Fain. All I want is for Rand to run into Padan Fain in the middle of a field covered in cowpies and knives. That way Fain can slip on a cowpie and fall on the knives and Rand can be like, "What the hell is going on here?"

I've always wanted to really sit down and hammer out what I think the Seanchan look like. Many of the descriptions (and interpretations) seem more than just a little goofy so I had a go. No idea whether this is goofy too.

So was kind enough to color [link] my original sketch [link] of this scene. He kept me updated while he was working and I just couldn't help but be infected by his enthusiasm for the task, nor resist the urge to do a color version myself.

I took the liberty (with my own drawing?) to make some changes and I think it turned out pretty well.

Remember that time when Egwene went travelling through the dream and ended up in Rand's while he was a little less than sane on his way to Tear?

If so you also remember that instead of saying anything that would explain to him why she was there she just said things that could easily be taken in more than one way.

When she could have said, "Hey Rand, I know it's strange that I'm suddenly in your dreams, I'm surprised myself. I am in the White Tower using a ter'angreal that lets me enter dreams. You obviously seem upset, so instead of coming closer I'll just stand over here."

I realize that she wouldn't have said all of that, and definitely not like I just did, but seriously, it was one of those situations where everyone says the wrong things just so that the misunderstanding can persist and the plot progress. I hate that kind of garbage.

Example:

White Chirstmas: Stupid old woman overhears Bob (Bing Crosby) talking on the phone about the general, but only stays on long enough to hear part of the conversation. She tells Betty who never actually confronts him about it, but talks around it/about it in such a way that she assumes he knows what she is thinking about but he of course has misinterpreted because, duh, of course he would.

It's poor plot writing when the only reason things happen is because people act irrational and illogically when there is no reason (outside of the plot) for them to do so.

The Dragon Reborn:

An emaciated Mat ventures out to the Warder training grounds and knocks around Gawyn and Galad for a few minutes, makes some money, some women angry, and one of the coolest scenes in the books so far...

Yeah, I like Mat, and when he does cool dude stuff I think, "Cool dude, so cool."

For some reason I keep seeing Michael Jackson here somehow. I don't know how or why...oh well.

Reading the WOT again, well I'm listening to the audiobooks because my free time is restricted to the time I spend on the bus and in between buildings on campus.

Inspired by the scene in The Dragon Reborn when trollocs ambush their little camp and Perrin kills the Fade but doesn't stop the Tinker from getting butched.

ps remember when Perrin is a total wuss like...forever? It's not even about thinking every hero should be ok with killing and all, but seriously does he ever shut up about how much he doesn't like using the axe, or the hammer, or the wolves, or Faile being mad at him, or the Two Rivers guys suspecting him, or this or that, blah blah blah. Dude, accept your fate buddy and stop torturing the rest of us with your pantywasteness. Just stand up for yourself for once and stop being so passive. If he was more assertive instead of being forced into everything he had to do (both good and bad) his story would be much more interesting to read.

Anyway this is about Lan, he's cool.
