Here's the story behind each of the elderly sages:
-Zelda became the Queen of Hyrule and the wisest of all the sages. She summons the other sages regularly to discuss important matters of the land. Every year, on the anniversary of Ganon's defeat, Zelda takes some time to go to the Temple of Time and watch the Master Sword for hours. Then she gives thanks to the goddesses for sending the hero who saved her land.

-Saria became a forest guardian and helps protects the Kokiri Forest from the Forest Temple. To protect themselves and become one with nature, Saria and the Kokiri are in the early stages of becoming living plant creatures who the Great Deku Tree has named Koroks. Saria can be found on some afternoons sitting in front of the temple playing her song in memory of her old friend.

-Darunia passed the leadership of the Gorons to his son many years ago. He is now a Goron elder and lives in the Fire Temple. Gorons from all over the world travel to Hyrule seeking his advice and to dance in his rituals atop Death Mountain. From time to time, Darunia enters the room where Volvagia was defeated to remember the great trials his Sworn Brother went through to save his people.

-Ruto became the Queen of the Zoras after her father's death and proud successor of Lord Jabu-Jabu as the Zora's guardian. She watches over all bodies of water and visits the Water Temple every day to make her prayers. Every morning, Ruto takes a minute to watch over a healthy Lake Hylia and give thanks for the hero who saved it.

-Impa became the Royal Advisor of the queen and is also the guardian of Kakariko Village. Her authority in Hyrule is only second to Queen Zelda. She visits the Shadow Temple every day to meditate for hours. Every year, Impa accompanies the queen to the Temple of Time. While Zelda watches the Master Sword, Impa stands in a corner looking at her and remembers the hero who protected her princess when she was unable to.

-Rauru watches over Ganon's seal from the Temple of Time. He endures a great deal of sorrow as a result of watching the beautiful Sacred Realm become a dark wasteland throughout the decades. After so many years, Rauru has started to feel an unsettling force coming from the other side of the seal.

-Nabooru mastered Twinrova's sorcery and became the most powrful sorceress in Hyrule. She resides in the Spirit Temple were Gerudo women often visit her for guidance. Every year, Nabooru hosts a tournament which tests the Gerudo's combat skills. The winner is awarded a Mirror Shield. The tournament was Nabooru's tribute to the hero who defeated the man who brought great deception to her people.

With this artwork I wanted to portray the eternal battle between Link, Zelda and their nemesis Ganon. Overwhelming as Ganon's forces may be, Link always triumphs and saves Princess Zelda. This is what the artwork represents.

Stalfos mostly resemble knights.
Lizalfos mostly resemble musketeers.
Wizzrobe looks similar to his first design, but wears a hood instead of a hat and have some Native American garbs features.
Tektite is a blending of several existing designs.
Bubbles for the most part look the same, but I made the wings' colors match their fire's colors.
Keeses for the most part look the same as their pitch-black designs in some games.
There are also some silhouettes in the background that most fans will recognize.

As far as coloring goes, I wanted to give it the look and feel of a painting.

This artwork is a tribute to Nintendo. A company who help build the videogame industry and until this day is still revolutionizing the landscape of videogames and creating new exciting experiences for gamers of all ages.

The company who saved the entire videogame home console industry after the North American Videogame Crash of 1983. The company who have given us classic games such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Metroid along with modern classics such as Pokémon, Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. The company who have given us iconic characters such as Mario, Pikachu, Link, Samus and Donkey Kong. The company who's innovations include shoulder buttons, control stick, rumble feature, first console 3D platformer, controllable camera, hub worlds, Z-targeting, dual screen/touch screen gameplay, motion controls and 3D gaming without glasses.

A total of 304 characters from the vast history of Nintendo make an appearance in this artwork. Including many recognizable faces such as Mario, Kirby and Link. You'll also find characters that only the older gamers will recognize and then there's characters that only the most dedicated Nintendo fans will be familiar with. There's also a total of 73 items, vehicles, consoles, handhelds and miscellaneous stuff. In addition, 55 third party characters, who’s games have help build the great catalogs that Nintendo consoles have enjoyed throughout it’s history, make an appearance. Retro legends, videogame icons, past rivals, longtime partners and new supporters. They're all here.

So lets give it up for Nintendo. For all the years of videogame entertainment they have given us and the best of wishes for all the years that the future holds. And thanks to all the third party companies who have supported Nintendo throughout the years.

This artwork is a tribute to Nintendo. A company who help build the videogame industry and until this day is still revolutionizing the landscape of videogames and creating new exciting experiences for gamers of all ages.

The company who saved the entire videogame home console industry after the North American Videogame Crash of 1983. The company who have given us classic games such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Metroid along with modern classics such as Pokémon, Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. The company who have given us iconic characters such as Mario, Pikachu, Link, Samus and Donkey Kong. The company who's innovations include shoulder buttons, control stick, rumble feature, first console 3D platformer, controllable camera, hub worlds, Z-targeting, dual screen/touch screen gameplay, motion controls and 3D gaming without glasses.

A total of 304 characters from the vast history of Nintendo make an appearance in this artwork. Including many recognizable faces such as Mario, Kirby and Link.
