Happy birthday !! He's the biggest Kirby fan I know _{I'm a couple days late though >__<}

I drew this sketch over a year ago, I've been meaning to colour it ever since... shows how slow I am XD

I originally wanted to make it abstract, but it lacked depth and looked kinda odd, so I couldn't help but put some airbrushing in, I dunno if it makes it look too weird now...

The sky was blue in the initial idea, but then I thought a darker background would bring out the rainbow and clouds better.

Today was my 5th devART anniversary. Instead of drawing something, instead, I decided to try some text art (so I hope this is the right category...).

Basically, I made a "tag cloud" of all of my submission (including on my stock account ~MapleRose-stock ) in the past 5 years in the shape of a 5. ie, the size of the word depends on the amount of stuff I've submitted in that category/with that theme, approximating the numbers (using my folders and gallery stats XD).

As you can see, it's mostly dominated by anime and fanart and photography, and lots of Gundam SEED XD

This was fun, but took way longer than I thought it would >__<

Vectored from cover of Orange Pekoe album (Taiyou no Kakera). I was originally gonna use red for summer heat, but decided yellow fit summer better, for sun and stuff. This one took longer than the others 'cause I mainly had no idea what to do with the background. Took me a few tries to find a style of sun that fit. Originally just gonna be all yellow, but decided to add in some blue for the summer sky XD

OMG It's soooo piiinnkkk! XD

When I saw the cover of Feldt's VA single, I wanted to make a wallpaper using it, 'cause Feldt looks so cute in the picture ^^ I was originally going to do a scenic background (might still do it), but when I was vectoring Feldt, I used random pink colours from palette from a previous project, and found that the lightish pastel colours look really neat, so I went abstract.

The theme and title came from the fact that while I was working on her hair, the shade of pink made me think of strawberry milkshakes (and made me crave it a bit) XD

Took a lot of inspiration from this wall by peniko. The font took me the longest, 'cause I'm not good at typography, so let this be an experiment? >__<

G00 - Vanilla Ice cream

So after I made my Feldt wallpaper, I thought, Soma's white hair reminded me of ice cream, vanilla ice cream XD

So yeah, this came to be. The hardest part was probably coming up with a good colour scheme, since white doesn't have much room for variation >__<

I originally wanted to use the same font for all the text, but "vanilla" looks too awesome in that scripty font. At first I had splats in the background, but I changed them to circles to look like scoops of ice cream...

So, should I continue and make this into a series? XD

p.s. this did not help my ice cream craving one bit...

What I did instead of studying *is shot*

Christina's hair is caramel-coloured, so naturally she would fit into this series. Plus, she needs more love XD

I swear, the caramel candy thingies took longer to vector than Chris herself >__< It was hard trying to find a good picture to represent caramel (unlike strawberry and vanilla...). And also trying to decide what else to add to make it more.. caramel. I ended up doing the line thingies 'cause it reminds me of caramel when you stretch it XD

For Myrrhlynn's request for the Moar-Plz project. She asked for a bishounen in normal clothes.

I saw the cover of the Voice actor single for Lockon, and wanted it on my desktop (he looks so sexy in those clothes.. *fangirls* )

Vectored Lockon in PSP8. I wanted something abstract, so decided to go with splatters. They came from ~cjvirus and Illustrator's brushes. The textures are from my own collection: [link] and [link]

The text bubble says "tanomu ze", which means "I'm counting on you", which Lockon says a lot ^^ Added Haro because Haro is Lockon's partner and I won't leave him behind

I vectored this a while ago, when I had access to Illustrator. I used gradient for shading, and I think it was probably too dark... but I can't fix it right now 'cause got no access to Illustrator

His hair was fun to vector ^^ His hands were not DX

Anyway, thought just a plain vector was too boring, so I gave it a random background by vectoring some random clouds XD

GS: Titanic - Teach Me to Fly

This is kinda old XD... Done for a contest where we had to do a movie scene with anime characters. The movie is of course, Titanic. The scene is that pretty famous one of Jack and Rose standing at the ship's bow in that pose.

Got the inspiration when I saw This picture of Cagalli, the pose reminds me of that famous scene from Titanic. Then I used a few reference pics for Athrun.

The background was referenced from photos I took during my vacation. I was gonna paint it at first, but decided to try vectoring clouds and waves and see what I get. I ended up liking it. I blurred it a bit to show distance. For the railing, I vectored from a screenshot from phase 17, it's the railing from the Minerva.

This was done for a cross-dressing contest.. I wasn't gonna submit it here, but Miri wanted me to, so.... blame her if you're traumatized

This is Dullindal Meer (so dubbed by me) XD The origins of this combination came from a Japanese flash site Kenkoudaa. The first appearance of him (or her? XD) came from this flash, and here's an explanation of where she/he came from XD. I've been wanting to draw Dullindal Meer ever since I saw those flash animations

The original Dullindal Meer is probably female, but since this was a cross-dressing contest, I had to make him male. But Meer's costume looks weird without having boobs, so I decided to put Haros there XD

Meer pose reference, Dullindal face reference. I thought the leg up pose was a bit too disturbing XD So I changed that.

So, traumatized yet? XD

This is a collab with ~Mirinee. I cleaned up and vectored her sketch, redrew some parts, like the hands (which killed me DX .. ). Then I went and added lots and lots of textures . It took a long time to decide which ones to use XD. Textures are from Here, Here, Here, and Here.

I got access to Illustrator, and this is the result of my experimenting with it.

The girl is vectored from the background image of Kunie Kanbara's website ([link]). I'm still a big Kunie fan.

Then I added vines and stuff. Some vines are vector brushes and resources (from [link]">by ~CreativeBox and [link] by =namespace ). The rest of the leaves are vectored.

The background splatters are from [link] by ~cjvirus, and some Illustrator brushes.

I started this in January I think... worked with many versions and reworked it many times. Here are a few versions I worked with.

Phew, finished! I think I started this in February... (but I took a huge break in between though)

This is vectored from a photograph I took of the poster I have in my room. I wanted to do this 'cause I love tigers ^^ But now.. I'm a bit sick of vectoring T__T ...

It's hard to distinguish the edges of the colours T__T ... I started out wanting to do a lot of details using a lot more in-between colours, but in the end, I got sick of staring at it, so I think I got a bit lazy to the end and used bigger blocks of colour.. I really really admire people who could vector from photographs with such fluid transitions...

What I love:
I love how the eyes turned out, esp the left one ^__^

What I dislike:
The right side of the face... T__T it took me forever....

Done in PSP8, with the pen tool. No gradients, no brushes, no filters.

Yay, today's Mwu's birthday!! and as a total fangirl, I had to do something to celebrate, right? Well I was gonna do a comic thingy (I had it sketched out), but I didn't make it on time... ah well, so I'll just do a tribute to him instead

Anyway, I saw this vector in my file: [link] and it was the second vector I've ever done. I saw how horrible it was, and it does Mwu no justice at all! >w< Besides, I love that pose, so I decided to redo the vector, with outlines this time, again with the semi smirk

Time: Er, 4-5 hours on and off?
Layers: Around 20?

I've gotten much faster at vectoring too. The first try took me about 6-7 hours, now I've gotten used to the pen tool, things go much faster ^___^

I love the brother type relationship between Mwu and Kira, and I've always wanted to draw/vector them together ^^

A while back I guess I was feeling a bit anxious and sad, feeling as if I can't fly on my own wings, and it gave me the idea of glass wings breaking apart as I'm falling (btw I'm feeling much better now ^^)...

I did not design the girl. She is composed of two pictures from Kunie Kanbara's book RESET. this one for the head and body, and this one for the dress and legs, and stitched them together. All vectored (her cheek is from gradient), then textured slightly with some cardboard I scanned in ^^

The legs took be forever, 'cause I couldn't find a good angle for them. I tried creating my own, but that ended up looking weird... and I fail at making glass look like glass ^_^' looks more like paper >.> which actually could fit the theme as well. And of course I can't draw wings in the first place either.... and PSP didn't save properly once, so I lost like half of a wing TT.TT

Archangel Photo Op

The Archangel Crew of GS: Chandra, Natarle Badgiruel, Mwu la Flaga, Murrue Ramius, and Neumann.

Traced from a screencap from 3rd ending of Destiny (I wanna go to a place). I loved this image the moment I saw it 1) because I love the AA crew 2) their expressions are priceless and 3) It's one of the rare pics of Mwu, Murrue, and Natarle together. But tracing from screencap wasn't fun, the pic I had was tiny, so hard to tell what lines are where...

I was just gonna do the three officers and leave out Chandra and Neumann at first, but their expressions are just too awesome to leave out XD (I think they think their officers are crazy, esp their commander )

Took out Natarle's hat, 'cause was too lazy I made it look like a photograph laying on Murrue's desk. The writing in the top corner is supposed to be Mwu's. A souvenir from him I guess ^___^

hmm, wonder where Tonomura is... maybe he's the one taking the picture...

I went grocery-shopping, and saw the oranges, lemons, and limes all lined up together, and thought "what pretty colours"! And I love rainbows. And going with my Flower Rainbow idea, this is became the result.

You might recognize some bits of the fruits, 'cause I recycled some vectors from my fruity wallpapers I made long time ago: banana, apple, and lime.

Inspired by an Old Navy commercial that was on TV a while ago.

Vectored from a design by Kunie Kanbara (I love her style).

Then went kinda crazy with patterns. Yes, major pattern abuse. Patterns are from motzgraphics, squidfingers, and revolution apparel.

The background is randomness. Was going for arrows and ended up with stars.

Colours sort of inspired by tropical Skittles I was eating at the time.

Aww, Murrue-san looks sad.. mabye it's 'cause Mwu isn't in the ending XD (Mwu isn't in any of the SEED endings!! >__< )

Simple vector to get myself back to vectoring again after I got sick and tired of it doing my tiger >__< And, since ~Mirinee vectored Murrue from the 3rd ending, I wanted to do the scene from this ending.

Was just gonna do Murrue, but then saw Natarle standing there next to her, thought Natarle could use more love, so I vectored her as well.

Inspired by Adidas' slogan, "impossible is nothing". And of course, it reminded me of Mwu la Flaga, the man who can "make the impossible possible". That, and I felt like some fangirl indulgence ;

Yup, more MxM vector

Murrue Ramius and Mwu la Flaga, vectored from image from the second opening of SEED.

I wanted to do a more stylized vector, so instead of using normal colours, I decided to use monochromatic scheme(s). As for the colours themselves, I used colours to match their eyes. I know Mwu's signature colour is probably purple (from his pilots suits and such), but he looks better in blue (), and besides, complimentary colours look much nicer ^_~

I wanted to use the least number of colours as possible. There are three shades of orange for Murrue and four shades of blue for Mwu, plus white for both.

The background took me forever to decide... I tried using just black or white, but seemed to be missing something.. After a long time I came up with this. Then I added some textures because it looked kinda dull without it.

At first I wanted to add some text, but couldn't find a good font or placement, so scrapped that idea... and yes, crappy title, can't think of a better one ^_^;;

Original size of this is 1280 x 800, which is the resolution of my laptop

I'm dedicating this vector to , a fellow MxM fan(girl ) (go check out her gallery!!). She got the GS/D novels while in Japan, and has scanned the awesome illustrations by RGB ( [link] ), and it made me very very happy

School Logo

The new logo for our high school, designed by me. We had a contest, and mine won.

It's fairly simple, but I think it's what they were looking for, 'cause it's easy to reproduce. Our school's mascot is the Trojan, and the colours are orange and green.

It's going to be used on letterheads, school clothing, plaques etc.

So, our school is having a poster sale, and I happened upon this one: here

I really liked the quote, and it reminded me of This Deviation, so I decided to try to make a wallpaper out of it. The umbrella part was easy, didn't take too long to vector, the part that took the longest was deciding on a background. I debated on whether to use a vector-based one or brush-based one. I didn't want to go too complicated with the background, so I ended up using gradients and textures instead. Textures are from [link] and [link]

At first the umbrella was supposed to be flat colour, but I started playing around with textures and blend modes, and added some highlight with a soft brush, and decided I liked this version better.

Layers: about 25 (?)

I put the quote on the umbrella as well, I'm not sure if whether I like it better with it or without it. I think it'd look cleaner without it, but for some reason I can't bring myself to take it out either :/

After making the lemon wallpaper, I saw my desktop background, and it's green. Then I suddenly got the urge to do something green. And apples are green. So I remembered this saying and expanded on it .

The apple is vectored from an image from iStockphoto.com, and the background apple patterns are vector brushes made by me by tracing a photograph.

So make sure the apple isn't rotten before trying to eat it

Yay, more fruity wallpaper!! I dunno, I was thinking which quote includes fruits, and this one can to mind. I'm not pessimistic or anything, just thought to poke fun at life

So I found a photo of a bowl of cherries via Google Images (my lifesaver), and vectored from it. This one took longer than the others, because I had trouble distinguishing the shadows and highlights, as well as the cherries from one another. But I like how it turned out. Besides, I really like cherries, the dark purplely red ones are nice and juicy and sweet

So beware of those sour cherries!

This time I'm submitting it in vector because eveything here is vectored, the Fllay and Murrue pics come from an old vector of mine (you might recognize it). When I saw this picture of Rau, I went kinda fangirly too (even though I'm more of a Mwu fangirl) and knew that I had to vector it

The hardest part was deciding on a colour scheme and background pattern. I ended up with black/white gradient instead of pattern. I think it sort of suits him.

Yuuko herself didn't take too long (even though her hair is pain), what really took forever are those CLAMP swirls in the background that I vectored from various xxxHolic scans. I really admire Clamp for being able to draw those swirlies...

I really like doing monochromatic stuff, it's fun and challenging. I actually started this out in purple, because Yuuko is seen with purple a lot as well. Then I started colouring Yuuko's clothing to test it out, and kinda liked the results. So I made a few alternate versions:

Purple with white
Purple with colour
Red with colour

Which one do you like best?

After finishing my lemon and apple wallpapers, I saw a clipart of a banana and decided to continue my fruity wallpapers. I came up with the quote myself randomly.

The banana is traced from a photo from iStockphoto.com. and the background patterns are vector brushes made by me.

So stop complaining!! (even though it can be fun )

Yay I'm not dead yet! (okay, classes haven't started yet, we're still doing orientation..I'll write more about that in a journal later)

The girls of the Archangel: Miriallia, Murrue, and Cagalli I like the AA crew much better... and this group shot looks so cool Milly looks so sweet, Cagalli's so happy, and Murrue looks so awesome. ^__^

This is my 2nd time vectoring Milly, 3rd time doing Cagalli, and billionth time vectoring Murrue (hehe, yeah I do vector her a lot, don't I...)

Look, I used outlines this time! Also, I blurred the image slightly to give it a softer feel. The background didn't give me too much hassel this time, because I already knew what I wanted.

Oh yeah, this vector was partly done on my new laptop, which was kinda hard actually... using a mouse is waay easier (I got a thumb cramp using the laptop ^_^' )

Murrue Ramius (left) and Mwu la Flaga (right) from Gundam SEED/Destiny, in their Orb uniforms.

I love them in their EA uniforms, but the Orb uniform looks pretty good on them too.

I changed Murrue's expression from the ref. picture, to make her look happier. I kinda made up Mwu's hair as I went because he has longer hair in the ref. pic (he looks SO much better with short hair ), and I changed his expression as well ('cause he needs that smirk )

as for the background, well I'm not good at making complicated ones. and their uniform reminds me of navy uniforms, hence the water.

Everything's vectored, even the background and birds. done in PSP8.

oh, and it's wallpaper sized.

Edit 07-04-06: Changed background. instead of using vectored textures, I actually airbrushed the clouds.

Oh my, it's not Mwu/Murrue this time? In fact, it's not even Gundam SEED

Anyway, this is Robin from Witch Hunter Robin in case you didn't know. I found a pretty picture of her, and was playing around with the black/white filters and effects, and found this cool-looking, so I vectored it

This is the first time I tried vectoring using textures, and I must say, they're fun and you get some awesome effects.

Um, not too many layers this time. The vectoring didn't take long, but playing around with the blend modes and textures took some time.

I didn't create the textures btw, they're from Hybrid-Genesis and Aethereality.

traced from manga scan (from vol 7), his hair and shirt was not fun -_-;; but his eyes *-* . I actually used lines this time (I usually don't).

I actually vectored him using monochromatic colouring (which I will make into a wallpaper), but wondered what he would look like with normal colours... so I changed it a bit and here he is

It almost broke my heart to resize this... and jpg pixilated it horribly...

Farewell, to the days of my youth...

Well, since today is technically my last day as a child (legally anyway), I made this to commemorate. At first, I thought to vector some random person, but looking through the stock section, I couldn't find the exact pose I wanted, so I took a picture of myself instead and vector traced it.

I wanted a sunset theme, to represent the ending of a day (or a chapter of my life). but it took me about 3 tries to figure out what kind of landscape to use.

Everything here is vectored, including the water.

I'm submitting this in the wallpaper section instead of vector is because this is wallpaper-sized, so I guess you can use it.

I've had this idea in my head for a while now, originally I was gonna use just blue and white, but since *vectorlovers is having a contest, and they're asking for vectors using blue, white, and yellow, so I made adjustments

Yeah I know the anatomy looks a bit weird, I drew the pic first, then took pics of myself as reference and combined the two. If you have suggestions, I may update this later.

SEED Monthly: Vol 1 Issue 3

hehe, I love the SEED Monthly Magazine by mumyou nanashi. It is one of the most hilarious publications I've ever read . So I decided to do a cover for the 'zine.

Why didn't I start with Vol 1 Issue 1? Uh, because I can't think of what to put on the cover of that one. This issue [link] features an awesome interview of Athrun and Lacus, so I decided to put them on the cover.

Athrun and Lacus are vectored, Fllay is from one of my old vectors, and Murrue is cut from a postcard image that I edited. Because that part's not a vector, I decided to submit this in here. The title is based off the official SEED logo, and the layout is modelled after Newtype USA.

Dedicated to mumyou nanashi, because she's such an awesome authoress, both in writing humour and angst/drama!! She's also the creator of the KIRA YAMATO unit as advertised [link] , as well as other units, and inspired me to create my own MU and MURRUE units

Yay Mwu and Murrue vector!! Anyway, I started this one like in November, but kinda stopped

Mwu and Murrue in RGB style, as seen from the insert illustration in vol 4 of the novel, it's the scene from phase 31 (aww I love that scene).

I'm dedicating this to ~AiaNP, a fellow Mwu/Murrue fan who shared this scan (I went fangirl when I saw this picture >.< )

Originally Murrue had tears in her eyes, but I didn't want to be mean and make her cry ^^

Phew, my first vector traced from a photograph instead of anime scan

This is Rie Tanaka, the beautiful voice of Lacus Clyne and Meer Campbell from Gundam SEED/Destiny, as well as Chii from Chobits. I love her voice as Lacus, esp her songs, was listening to Fields of Hope while working on this .
Anyway, technical specks:

Layers: 33 (including background)
Time: um, about 8 hours

Since this was my first time tracing from a photograph, I kinda cheated in distinguishing the colours. I converted the photo into 16 colours, so that instead of smooth shading, you get the colours already divided up. Then I traced those contours, converted back to 16 million colours, used the original photo as a guide and fixed certain areas.

whee, more vectoring!!

I've had this idea for some time, after my individual Mabudachi wallpapers. I thought, hey, Shigure = green, Hatori = blue, and Ayame could = red, so together, Mabudachi = RGB (the primary colours of light).

But it took some time for me to find the right picture to vector. This one: [link] immediately came to mind, except that Hatori is in the middle. it'd be RBG instead of RGB. I needed Shigure in the middle. But pretty much all pics of them together have Hatori in the middle. So I ended up drawing my own pic, modelled after the reference pic. See, one of these days I would vector my own drawing

Anyway, I debated on whether just doing the outines or use actual colours. I decided the coloured version is bolder. Then it took some tries with background, but I ended up with simple black.

I turned 18 today, so legally I'm an adult now. Also, I've graduated from high school, so in many ways, I am beginning something new.

made pretty much the same style as the other one. This time I used dawn colours. Those mountains in the distance represent obsticles that I'll have to face.

Everything is vectored except the mist. I used masks to make that.

Look, I actually used outlines this time, and this time I did it properly, using fill-paths instead of stroke-path like I usually do. this means that the lines are at different width in places. Ended up using 45 layers for this.

I also changed their expressions slightly from the reference picture, combining different ones to get it right.

I think the background took more time to figure out than the actual vector ... 'cause I suck at backgrounds... The roses in the back are vector brushes by me from tracing a clipart. It was originally red, but I tried out orange, and decided orange looks better.

ack, the full title is supposed to be "The Many Moods of Murrue Ramius" but it wouldn't fit!!

Anyway, this whole idea came when I looked through my files and discovered just how much I've used Murrue in my vectors... and how many different emotions are in those vectors. So I decided to make a collection. The polariod/snapshot idea soon came, as did the whole corkboard idea. Then I started writing random notes (starting with the one on the left), and decided to make this into a sort of gallery, created by... guess who .

So yeah, Everything here is vectored, and most are from my old vectors (you may recognize some of them. There are 3 that I vectored specifically for this, everything else is recycled . It took me the longest time to figure out the right shadings, and took forever to debate whether to keep those polaroid photo edges or not, but I wanted the labels to be there, so I added some textures so it's not so white and boring...

I actually finished this a while ago, but decided to wait 'til her birthday (today) to submit it. I guess it's my tribute to her, because she's one of my fave female characters I love Murrue (in a purely platonic way of course >.< ), and she's sort of became my model

okay, I'm finally finished this. Mwu and Murrue here are vectored, and that took forever because the reference picture [link] I used (from the 3rd ending of SEED Destiny) was tiny and blurry, and Shinn's big fat head (I've always wanted to say that ) was in the way, so I couldn't figure out the position of their right hands or Mwu's legs.

Therefore, I used a manga pic of Mwu for reference, and just made up the positions of their hands. Murrue's right hand was traced from my previous vector (hand in hand), and Mwu's hand I did from scratch, from posing with my own hands in the mirror... so sorry if it looks odd, I'm not good with hands =_=... also their left hands I pretty much redid because I couldn't see on the reference picture. Their faces are also done from scratch, Murrue's hair has been modified, but something looks a bit off, but I can't quite figure out why (somebody please tell me!)

I dunno why I used outlines, but it actually made defining fingers much easier. Oh yeah, if you look closely, you'll see a ring on Murrue's finger ^___^ The scan I used had a blurry line thing on it (or maybe it's just my imagination), so I decided it was a ring ^^

The background: the sky/clouds are rendered with Terragen, water and sky overlay colours are gradients and textures. The land and lighthouse are vectors with textures.

and yes, this is wallpaper-sized

Why did I do this? 'cause I'm such an obsessed Mwu/Murrue fan =_=... besides, that pose is just too cute to pass up!

Inspiration comes from the first lines of the lyrics to 3rd ending of Destiny "I wanna go to a place" by Rie Fu. I originally wanted to put the lyrics on the picture, but it didn't look right and was unneccessary, so I took it out.

Aisha from Gundam SEED. She's not a main character, in fact, she only appears in about 2-3 episodes. but in her brief appearance, I've come to love her sarcasm and straightforwardness ("You mean a loser's experience?" ). and she and Andy make a great couple
