Accidental collaboration with the super awesome Kayote on FA! [link] featuring my good friend Mwako (skuma) because when you're good friends with me this is the kind of thing I do, apparently.

Anyway, Kay did the pencil sketch and I had the pleasure of inking and coloring it. See, Kay had these word list sketches and one of the words on the list was "spank," so OF COURSE I commissioned her to draw this. She was kind enough to give me permission to finish it up. He looks so sad that I almost felt bad doing so (almost being a key word here.)

Rama graciously accepted my offer of a commission in exchange for buying my deer kigurumi for Megaplex, and not only that, but he let me have freedom with the subject for the illustration. Since it was to feature him and Mwako, I was inspired by the "Tiny Lion" themed tweets my Flutterkitten friend has been posting recently, figuring this was something both would enjoy.

Happy Mother's Day

I'm so happy to finally be able to share this drawing with you, because it means a lot to me. It's been finished for two weeks, but you can see why I didn't post it anywhere until now, since it was a surprise for my dear mother. Right at midnight when it was officially Mother's Day I gave this to her as a big (16" by 16") canvas print, which she loved.

You could say it's a representation of my mom and myself as cats, sort of. ^_^ Drinking mate together like we do almost every afternoon. I treasure that time of the day.

I tried to draw the background to look like the house we'd like to own someday, with a nice porch, full of flowers. A safe, happy place of our own.

First Time In The Pool

On a hot, sunny summer day, Pørsha decided to take her little baby bear Milo to the pool for the first time. Carefully, little Milo put his tiny paws in the water. Pørsha was so proud of her baby's progress, because her little bear doesn't enjoy bathtime at home. But this was so much fun for Milo!

This drawing is for my dear friend for a trade of sorts, as well as a crossover of his character with my own (Saffron, Nib and Horus.) I really enjoyed working on this one and gave it my all. Will probably be posting the three chapters I've written so far of The Tale of Horus since they are what give this drawing some sort of context. ^u^

Seth, I am really, super sorry I took so long. I kept putting it off because I didn't want it to be just a sketch, since it was for you after all. But I never seemed to find the time to work into it as much as I wanted. Now it's finally done, and I hope it's good enough to make up for the inexcusable wait time.

This egg has a special surprise inside! It's ~MalyMilo!

This is how eggs are decorated in my country of birth. Or at least I was reminded of this while working on this drawing. The are HUGE (though not quite this big I guess, lol, but still ridiculously big) made of dark, somewhat bitter (but delicious) chocolate, and they have the most beautiful ornaments made of colored sugar on the surface. No eggs like that here in the US...

Little Freya [Raffle Prize for bathsua]

Here's Suu's "little prank sister" Freya, a raffle prize for a new friend, ~Bathsua!

Freya was a lot of fun to draw with the rainbow accents in her hair.

You will notice the coloring style looks different from my usual work:

Traditional ink line art instead of digital
Mostly flat colors except for some gradients (no shading)
Simple background with texture

This is a good example of what my "economy" commissions will look like. They will be around the price range of my Fall, Christmas and Easter specials (something like this would cost $15, but they could go up to $25-30 depending on complexity.)

Because my specials took so long to do for very little money, I find that I cannot do them for those prices anymore. Instead, they will go for the rates always displayed on my portfolio: [link]

However, you will still have the option to purchase art from me at that price, in this new style. But keep in mind this style will not allow for complicated BGs, and cannot be upgraded in any way (shading and such.) For that, it's my usual rates.

Also, even though these are traditionally done, I don't really like the idea of parting with my originals. U3U Sorry guys...

Anyway! Hopefully this will mean I can get more commissions done in less time. I still put my all into them. It's hard for me not to do shading and highlights and all the fun stuff... I enjoy it! But it's too time consuming for what I charge.

My Feet Hurt

I am fond of this illustration... I drew it late last year but never got around to coloring it. Finally it's done.

Horus is very little, hardly more than a baby, used to only sleeping and eating, and sometimes eating in his sleep. He is not used to walking, and his wings are underdeveloped from lack of proper exercise. So, hours on end of walking in the Deep Dark Woods don't sit very well with him. Nib has to be very patient with him.

I've mentioned this before, but Nib is a girl. The character originally was a boy; however, later on I decided to have Nib be a girl instead, while changing the character's appearance very little. This made the story work in unexpected ways and created the perfect dynamic between her and Horus.

It's Only Snow

I'm enjoying working on these Christmas/Winter commissions SO much. Maybe it's because anything sparkly or with snow is a weakness for me, I just love it, but also because these commissions paid for all the Christmas presents and cards for my family and friends (along with a couple of trinkets for myself) but the former especially fills me with gratitude and other good feels as I work on the art.

All the while as I draw and color I think of the presents I got for my friends with the money and I am so happy. Many of them, I wasn't able to get them a present the past 2 Christmases. So this means a lot to me.

This was supposed to be a black-lined, simple background illustration. But it got out of hand with colored lines and a much more detailed background after all. My cough won't let me sleep, so I was trying to kill some time. Thought might as well upgrade it a bit.

I should go to bed now, but I'm coughing so much, I don't think I will sleep at all. I may have bronchitis... If so, time to go to the doctor for some antibiotics.

This here is my personal Christmas/New Year's/Insert-Holiday-of-Choice-Here card to give to my friends and family. To be honest I drew it and still am not 100% sure that I will be able to afford having it printed, but I sure hope I can, because I worked on it during my free time for two days.

Since the story my little moth-imp Gyp belongs to is set during Christmas-Wintertime, I thought he was a good choice for my card. Maybe a little strange-looking, but I wanted it to be unique. He's been redesigned a bit here, his character design is still a continuous work in progress, but that's okay.

If I'm able to print this, I'll be sending it to a big group of people depending on how many I can afford.

Feliz Navidad, Bay Supermarket!

This is the Christmas card I drew for my coworkers! I now work at a Latin supermarket with many employees. There's 25 of us, which is a lot considering the place is small and not even open 24 hours. The supermarket has been there for 20 years and a lot of my coworkers are family. There's my boss and his wife, and his two uncles (the managers) and girls who've been working there for 15+ years. So there's this close-knit feeling among everyone.

I based the elements of the card (palm tree, sun, sea) on the logo, which I also drew (not copied and pasted) on the grocery bag of holiday foodstuffs the happy flamingo is carrying. That's why the water is so stylized, it was drawn that way to match the logo. ^u^

Anyway, I'm pretty certain none of my coworkers follow my art online, most of them aren't even aware that I draw. So I don't think I'll spoil the surprise. I'm preparing a little bag with silly Christmas things and candy to give along with the cards. I hope they will be will received.

Peppermint Mocha is my favorite Starbucks drink... I think I enjoy Pumpkin Spice Latte so much because of the anticipation of Peppermint Mocha time approaching! I love the Christmas cups too... It's always a bit disappointing when they give me my first Peppermint Mocha in a regular cup because they haven't got the red ones in yet. Ah well! Those are first world problems to say the least, eh? C:

Teenage Amadeus

I guess he's probably a teenager here, or around that old. In my Meganeea stories, Amadeus is an antagonist, but he is a good hearted, faithful character. He struggles a lot between the urge to do the right thing while not betraying his best friend (who is the main antagonist of the stories.)
