The bright sunlight provided great contrast for the dark body of the spider. I was able to get several poses, but this was the best since it showed all eight legs.

Some facts about spiders:

Spiders aren’t insects; they’re members of an arthropod group called arachnids.

Spiders have 48 "knees" -- 8 legs with 6 joints on each.

Although spider bites aren't usually fatal to adults, they can be very painful.

Tarantulas are the largest in the spider family. Some even live to be 30 years old.

The hairy South American bird spider is the monster of the tarantula family. One species is ten inches wide -- as big as a dinner plate. In its diet, it includes lizards, birds, even mice! It dissolves their insides with its venom and then sucks them dry.

If you have a pet tarantula, you can pick it up as long as you dont threaten or scare it. If it feels scared, it will release thousands of tiny hairs that will get under your skin. It could also bite...
I used my brother's camera for this shot, an Olympus C740UZ, shooting with an aperture of F/3.2, ISO of 200 and 1/1000 sec shutter speed.

My favorite aspect of this photo is the time-catching moment of having a water drop hit on a watch. my only regret is not having the time on the watch clearer.

I took about 20 shots to get this one right. I already have experience taking similar shot so I can get some good shots just by learning the timing from the drop to the time it hits and feeling the camera's shutterlag so I can press down in time for it to catch the drop. Takes a while, but it's worth it.
