That illustration is an effect of a digital overlay of a few photographs taken on the day.
All elements were there and the photographs were layered in Photoshop.

edit: thank you all for your suggestions to make this image a little better, there was something that wasn't quite sitting right with me last night about it. so as you mentioned, i got rid of the front bird that was in focus and slightly overlapping naomi (that already made the biggest difference) and i also blurred the other bird that was in focus to the right hand side of the image. i just added a bit of motion blur to give a feeling of movement to it. thanks again! x ]]>
