Slight explanation:

I saw this image of raven "trigon-ified" and thought it was one of the best images I had seen of her, so I decided to do a rendition myself. The problem is, I don't have the image on hand, so I did it entirely from memory. A couple of specifics may be missing.

There is one part intentionally left out though. Now, in the image, she's wearing a black t-shirt that says "i'm not goth, I'm just drawn that way." (or something like that) and I just couldn't make the text work on this image. So instead of putting the text on and making it look like crap, I left the text out and made it a plain ole black t-shirt.

aside from the basic sketch, this is 100% done with a mouse. ]]>

asked for a picture of raven, but he wasn't specific. My repertoire of "sexy poses" is somewhat depleted at the moment, so I went with just a cool idea.

A power that connected the original Raven and the cartoon Raven was the ability to teleport. (Though, to be fair, she didn't use this ability that much in the show.) And I figured that power was good way to showcase my "old schoolin it" design.

I did this in the style of [link] since holy christ you people love it so much. It's funny, I can never tell what's going to be liked and what's going to be ignored, and that image being my top favorited image is like way out of left field for me. ]]>

You know, I don't post my sketches at all anymore. Partially because I haven't sketched much in the past few months, but mostly because the final product is usually way WAY different from the sketch. So, I don't see it as worth posting.

Sketches, for me, are a jumping off point, not a finished product. I'm fighting the urge to put this, and the sketches that will follow in to scraps.

Granted, the more solid the jumping off point, the better the finished product but I ALWAYS make changes. Either because of errors, or stylistic decisions, the sketch never looks like the finished product.

(I actually worry about getting in to the comic industry because of this since the sketch is treated like the finished product.)

It seems to me like not many people ignore and adjust their sketch. I mean, people see what they've drawn down as gospel and don't change it. At least, that's the way it seems to me. I think I'll make a poll about it to see if I'm right.

Anyway, I'm going to try to get in the habit of posting my sketches. Starting with this.

School is just draining me, and I wouldn't have made this if it weren't for 14-bis's art jam.

The content is sort of inspired by my little 20 minute struggle of coming up with an idea for it. I want to submit my Raven Jeans Redux to the jam, but I don't think that's kosher. Which means I needed to come up with something new.

But coming up with something new was painful. I mean, the last Raven Redux piece I made was thanks to half a period of staring at my teacher's ass (my sculpture teacher is ridiculously hot for a woman in her 30s) With this, I had no inspiration. I just pulled it out of no where.

I started with the image on the right, and realized, "that looks like that image of Shay Laren." Disgusted, I tried to do something a little more original, but I couldn't do the perspective for shit.

Soooooo... I decided to make a comic out of both my failures to kind of poke fun at myself. Afterall, it's important to sort of chuckle at our failures and move on. ]]>

So I've always wanted to reconcile what I like about the comics and the show with her. So for shits and giggles I gave her a costume that was reminiscent of the comics.

I seem to have a fascination with women from the side lately. I've learned from it that an unrealistically arched back = sexah.

It's been a long time since I've done art of her, and I felt nostalgic.

Whenever I seem to be really frustrated about women, I seem to draw stuff like this. Why? Simple, I know quite a few girls who drive me nuts who have figures like this. I feel very lucky, but very cursed at the same time. Cause it's always like "hey, here's this beautiful girl...no touchy." Infact, I made this to work off some steam which is why it only took about 2 hours from sketch to finish. ]]>

Anyway, I've had this in my folder for about 3 weeks. Every time I'd almost post it, I'd stop myself for three reasons.

Finally, I've just been so stressed with college concerns lately, that art just seemed "pfeh"

To fix the first problem, I cropped it. To fix the second problem, I just sort of said "I'll upload the video when it's done, I'll upload the piece now."

As for the final problem.... the more I ignored arting the worse I felt. As long as I'm doing some kind of art, I can feel good about myself. ]]>

Oh, and the first person to say the arms are too short will be shot on sight. She's holding her arms back as should be obvious. I suggest doing that pose in the mirror at that same angle if you don't believe me.

edit: I made a few adjustments, they are as follows: made her chakra gem smaller and moved it to the middle of her head, moved the widows peak of her head in accordance with the chakra, fixed the damned chin, fixed the eye lids (her right lid was smaller than her left for some reason), fixed the high light on her right (our left) boob, added a more intense backlight (I feel it makes her "pop"), and I desaturated it a teeeny bit so you could see the shading on the torso. ]]> .
