The manor along with the estate sprawls on the area of 3 hectares. The mansion was built in the beginning of 19th century. It was renovated between 1918 and 1920. When we visited this place, the building stood empty and estate's wall was ruined next to the front gate.

"Tuchów is a town in Tarnów County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland, with a population of 6,476 (2004). It lies on the Biała river, at the height of 220 meters above sea level. The distance to Kraków is 100 kilometers, and to the border with Slovakia, app. 80 kilometers.
The first historical note about Tuchów dates back to 1105. A document of papal legate Gilles de Paris tells us that the village had been given to the Tyniec Benedictine Abbey by Władysław Herman’s wife."

Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Redemptorist Cloister in Tuchów is a brick-built baroque church (parochial since 1951), Shrine to the Virgin Mary, place of pilgrimage of Tarnów diocese. Buildings of the Redemptorist monastery were built in the end of 19th century.
First wooden temple in this place was raised probably in the 11th century thanks to Benedictines from Tyniec Abbey (present Cracow thereabouts). Benedictine tradition says that this church has been consecrated by St. Stanislaus of Szczepanów. First Tuchów presbytery - associated with the temple - came into being in 12th century. In 1460 a new church has been built in town (Church of St. James the Great), what caused relocation of the benedictine presbytery and the old church began to dilapidate. Revival came in 16th century, when the painting of Mother of God was placed in the Basilica. The same painting become famous in 1597. This caused the decision of building a new pilgrimage church (1665 - 1682).
In 1789 a terrible fire destroyed the city, including the church of St. James the Great. The presbytery has been moved back to basilica till 1797, when the burned church in the town was finally rebuilt.
Buildings of Basilica were under the care of Benedictines till 1816, then Jesuits and since 1893 - Redemptorists, who look after the temple till now.
The Basilica is famous because of the painting of Mother of God. It was painted about 1530-1540 in renaissance style in Master's of Bodzentyn workshop. Painting depicts the Mother of God, holding the Child in her left hand and a rose in her right hand. First mentions of miracles that happened behind this painting are dated on 1597.

Pogórze Ciężkowickie is a foothills area that distends between valleys of Biała and Wisłoka rivers. The northernmost peak is Saint Martin's Hill in Tarnów, my hometown. Hills covered with beech forests, mild mountain climate, fresh air, diversity of fauna and flora, and many hiking, bike and horse riding trails are the most attractive values of Pogórze Ciężkowickie.
Brzanka Range is the biggest part of this area. The highest peaks here are Brzanka and Liwocz (562 metres AMSL).
In 1995 Brzanka Range has been taken into preservation in the form of "Pasmo Brzanki Landscape Park".

In the beiginning at the place of later castle in Melsztyn existed probably a wooden watchtower, raised in 11th century. Within years 1340-1352 castellan of Cracow, Spytek Leliwita from Melsztyn built the castle here, expanded later by Jordan family. The building resisted swedish invasion in 17th century, but not much time later - in 1771 - has been burnt down during Bar Confederation. A century later, within 1879-1885 the castle was belayed as permanent ruin.

Within years 1340-1352 castellan of Cracow, Spytek Leliwita from Melsztyn built the castle here, expanded later by Jordan family. The building resisted swedish invasion in 17th century, but not much time later - in 1771 - has been burnt down during Bar Confederation. A century later, within 1879-1885 the castle was belayed as permanent ruin.

At least since 8th century Tropie (probably called differently then) was very important part of the trail connecting roads from Bizantium with routes leading to Baltic Sea, as it was the place where passage across the Dunajec River was possible.
Folk tradition preserved a mention, that in the site where nowadays stands the church of st. Swierad and Benedict there was a pagan place of worship (sacred grove).
Origins of Christianity in this area are dated on years before 855.
About 1045 Casimir the Restorer founded the church in Tropie. The sanctuary exists till now, though with many later reconstructions. About 1073 the church was sanctified by st. Stanisław, the Bishop of Cracow. The church was dedicated to eremite st. Świerad, who lived in this place probably within years 998 - 1018.
Within the second half of 13th century the roman church was devastated by Tatar and Mongolian warriors. In that time the church was also struck by a fire. Traces of sooting are visible till now next to the altar.
Since 1563 the church was in Arian hands and returned to catholics in 1603.
In 1641, after a huge renovation, the patronage of st. Benedict was added by Tomasz Oborski, Bishop of Cracow, who re-consecrated the sanctuary. The name Benedict belongs to st. Swierad's apprentice, who died a martyr's death in 1034, three years after his master.
