Peter New and Patty at Trotcon 2013

I do quite a bit of art for the voice of Big Macintosh, one Mr. Peter "A Cool Hat For Every Occasion" New. Trotcon 2013, however, was an extra-special occasion! Not only did I get to make a fancy new image of Big Mac, but I had the honor of including the OC for a beautiful, wonderful young lady named Patty. Patty suffers from a rare form of childhood cancer called "neurobastoma." She had a special request to meet Mr. New while he was in the area. We teamed up to provide Patty with lots of art and pony-related goodies, including Peter's official autograph card featuring Patty and Mac delivering that sweet, sweet Sweet Apple Cider to the convention!

This was one of the most fun and rewarding pieces I've had an opportunity to work on. Patty is an amazing and amazingly strong young woman and I hope she knows that she's an inspiration to Peter, myself, and so many others.

I need to make a proper Trotcon journal, thanking all the wonderful folks I met and spent time with over last weekend. It was an incredibly warm, fun, and successful weekend and I find myself already looking forward to Trotcon 2014!

Okay, so the best part of the MLP comic from IDW publishing is the incredible cast of artists, writers, and colorists working tirelessly on every issue! And the second best part is definitely Nightmare Rarity. But the THIRD best part was from Issue 5, where Pinkie Pie randomly appeared in an adorable cheerleader outfit! The dangerous levels of cute are not measurable by any known method or equipment!

Took me a few weeks, but I had to make a version of her myself! Not sure how she's holding those pom-poms, exactly... Magnets maybe? Industrial adhesive?

Trotcon Buttons- The Final Chapter

Here's the last of the shiny new buttons I'll have at Trotcon this weekend! Newbies include Nightmare Rarity, Cheerleader Pinkie, Four varities of Spike, a new Twilight Button, Doctor Whooves (and companion), Zecora, and some Equestria swag. That puts the total unique buttons at a whopping 35 unique flavors! I've retired quite a few button styles, but added many many more. I'll post the whole roster to my journal later this week.

For those wondering, I sell buttons and prints for the same super cheap price- $3 each or 4 buttons and/or prints for $10. While I will be able to accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover I am no longer able to accept Equestrian Bits, Rupees, livestock, bottlecaps or scrimshaw as currency.

New Book Boxes

New Book Boxes by *PixelKitties

At last June's Bronycon I made a paper, book-shaped Elements of Harmony box to keep pens, stickers, and assorted stuff in. I was amazed at the number of people who came up offering me ridiculous amounts of money to buy it. Towards the end of the convention I ended up with a bunch of people at my table bidding on a simple craft item that wasn't even that happy with.

I made some more and sold those at subsequent conventions last year and while everyone seemed to love them I really thought the books could be so much more impressive than just paper and cardboard.

This year I wanted to really create something truly worthwhile. The new book boxes are made of wood with gold leaf "pages" and are leather wrapped with a tooled pattern. The horse emblem and corner embellishments are laser cut/etched mirrored acrylic. THIS is the kind of Elements of Harmony box I wanted all along! I'm also thinking of having a special surprise inside the book as well. Gotta see what I can do before next weekend.

Best of all, you can totally put your weed in there! Because ponies eat weeds and grass.

I'll have nine boxes in three sizes at Trotcon next weekend. If they sell well I'll be bringing them to Bronycon and Nightmare Nights too!

UPDATE- Oh gosh! Thanks so much for the wonderfully positive response! I'm so glad everyone is liking the books!

For everyone wondering about the price, I've not settled on what to charge yet. I really go out of my way to keep the price of my pony stuff low, low, low! That said, these represent quite a bit of cost in terms of materials, not to mention time so I'm trying to sort out a balance between a fair price for the consumer and a little bit of profit and recouping costs for boring old me. If you have a moment, let me know what you'd be willing to pay for small, medium, and large sizes! It would help a lot to know what actual buyers think!

As for selling online and international shipping- I'm working on it! As you can imagine it's taken quite a while to put these nine together. Now that I've done it once and have some of the processes in place it'll hopefully be a bit faster next time. I'll try and make some available between conventions! Just be aware that shipping costs in the US have gone sky high, so international shipping on these, especially the large books, will probably be a bit high. Even shipping some stuff to friends in Seattle and California has been crazy expensive lately!

New Buttons for Trotcon!

Just a few weeks till Trotcon in Columbus OH and I'm rushing to get everything ready for my vendor table. New prints, new book boxes, new decorative bottles, and these fancy new buttons will be available. Free hugs and bare knuckle boxing also available upon request!

Anyhoo, these buttons represent some of the characters I wanted to get to last year but didn't have the chance and a couple re-dos of previous characters that I wasn't happy with. I'll post the full list of available buttons and other sundry items as June 14 draws closer.

In the meantime, please let me know in the comments what other character buttons you'd be interested in seeing, or other types of prints or merch period. It'll help me decide what to do next, and I'd much appreciate it!

Pony Parody Bottle Labels

That's sure a lot of labels up there! How many? Let's see, 1...2...19... That looks like at least 30,000, though that's just a rough estimate. Could be even more!

Here are all the labels I've used for decorative bottles, including three all new ones. Arrogant Trixie and Brew Free or Derp jumped the fourth wall and are actual craft beers brewed by my family.

Still owe a few people bottles by mail. Ordering new labels this week and will try and get those out shortly thereafter.

Anyhoo, I'm retiring regular Nuka Classy, Sweet Apple Cider, and probably Brew Free or Derp, so if you caught them last year, congrats! If not...well the new ones are pretty cool too!

So, what's going on with you? Me? Just hanging out. Had a grilled cheese sandwich earlier. Saw the trailer for Agents of Shield! Really excited for that!

Anyway, have a comic that pertains to nothing specific.

I often wonder if I'm the crazy one because I don't mind things like Alicorn Twilight or Equestria Girls and see them as silly, fun, and ultimately lightly entertaining bits of fun. Though, some folks have taken NOT being upset as thinly-veiled condescension towards those who are, which is SO not my intent. so now I'm not sure how to express my feels.

Perhaps I need to invent new, inoffensive feelings. Like, mmrangy. I'm feeling very mmrangy about everything!

Sigh. Now the people who feel tyflukk are going to be pissed...

Miss Cheerilee's Guide to Trees

Man, I just don't know.

The other day on Skype we were talking about overusing textures, which made me think of the guy from class who applied an old paper texture to everything, which made me think of the Little Golden Books I have from my sibling's childhood that are all faded and worn. And then trees, Cheerilee, bad/overused jokes. And then I ran out of bad overused jokes and here it is!

Seriously though, I miss Monty Python's Flying Circus. I need to revist those episodes sometime. I'm sure they're on Netflix at this point.

The first episode of Arrested Development I saw was Top Banana, featuring this scene [link] It certainly made me laugh- and by laugh, I mean I made that high-pitched wheezing sound Dennis Nedry made in Jurassic Park for nearly five minutes. Within the context of the episode it was hilarious, but a week or so ago I came upon the image version on Tumblr and found it even funnier OUT of context!

And then ponies. Because why not?

It's been awhile since I've said so but thank you for following me, commenting, or even just stopping by to check out this one piece of pony-related weirdness. I've never cared to be a part of any fandom before, every step of the way has been a new experience for me- and as a community we have certainly had our ups and downs...and sideways and diagonals. But it truly is a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this mostly-wonderful world of candy-colored equines, and to call so many of you fellow fanatics my friends. Vincent Tong is the incredibly talented voice behind Donut Joe, Prince Blueblood, and Garble the Red Dragon on My Little Pony as well as countless other voices and television roles. He was kind enough to allow me to design a pony-themed homage to Edward Hopper's famous painting Nighthawks [link] for autographin' at conventions.

UPDATE-

First of all, it makes me happy to see so many folks automatically equate this old saying with Doctor Who now!

So this was a dumb thing I put together with a screenshot and some new bits for April Fools. I think it got a few people, but Derpibooru seemed to connect me with it pretty quickly!

I'm quite the fan of Twixie, otherwise known as Twilight shipped with Trixie. While I know it'll never happen on the show (at least not this decade) these two magical unicorns will always and forever be my OTP!

I've seen a metric ton of equality avatars popping up on Facebook, Twitter, etc. And yet, by some terrible oversight, none have featured Pinkie Pie. Well, we can't have that!

For anyone who hasn't passed a TV/Radio/Internet Device this week in America, the US Supreme Court heard challenges to California's Proposition 8 banning Same-Sex Marriage in the state AND the Defense of Marriage Act of our Constitution which prohibits the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages, even if individual states approve them. Many folks are using avatars like this- [link] -in their social media to support repeal of anti-gay legislation.

Obviously being a big ol' Lefty I am on the side of tearing down both of those laws to their foundations. And hopefully, here in the land of the free, we'll stop attempting to enshrine discrimination- in any form- within our most precious founding legal and cultural documents.

Trading in the glorified (and might I say only barely functional) drink coaster known as Aliens Colonial Marines for the awesome, turn of the century, Americana-gone-wild glory of Bioshock: Infinite! I'm running through some practice squees a few hours in advance as I gear up for throwing swarms of burning crows at racist bad guys and wrecking the crap out of giant retro airships!

For some reason Matt asked boring old me to make him a Soarin' themed autograph card for his appearance at Brony Fest, Cutie Mark Con and other conventions. It's an understatement to say I'm proud and downright giddy to make art for Matt!

Andrea Libman, Big Apple Ponycon Autograph Pic

My Little Sunshine Redux

Many moons ago, in the year 2011 CE I was pretty much the same as now, namely a dorky fan of cartoon ponies drawing dumb things to amuse myself and the occasional not-myself individual. The first pony-related art I made that achieved any semblance of notoriety/infamy was a multi-page comic that parodied the 2007 Sci-Fi film Sunshine.

At the time I was quite proud of it. Looking back, I'm still happy with how it turned out. I certainly haven't had the time/ambition to do a multipart comic like that since.

Anyhoo, for those interested in a walk down memory lane, tonight I'll be showing one final livestream movie, and it happens to be Sunshine! If you'd like to join us, grab the popcorn and some SPF9000 sunblock and join us!

I was going to turn this into an epic image of my pony on Trixie as they both ride in a wheel-less chariot pulled by velociraptors. Also thought about including some ninjas, explosions, Bruce Willis and a solar bomb to re-ignite the dying sun.

But, damn son, it's my birthday! I think I'll take the day off and see what it's like to NOT be constantly drawing! I'll bet it's something like heaven...

Leaving Las Vegas

This past weekend Las Pegasus Unicon took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. By now I think most everyone is aware that there were serious problems with finances leading to a significant amount of problems. VIPs came away with no payment or reimbursement of expenses, charities found their funds gone, and attendees in reduced-rate room blocks were confronted with full priced bills and demands for immediate payment.

The situation has left many fans and guests who showed up in good faith struggling with their own personal finances. To this end the fandom community is attempting to raise the funds to help out those whose wallets have took a beating.

If you want to help, the best place to go is here- [link] The LPU Relief League is currently overseeing a wide range of auctions, offering everything from art to games to autographs to a complete set of Enterplay trading cards. Apparently Princess Celestia (and Cheerilee!) herself, Nicole Oliver, was stranded at Las Vegas airport on her way to Unicon yesterday! Oh noes!

It was suggested I make her a comic concerning her alter-ego in a similar predicament. So I did! Because Ms. Oliver is amazing and has always been incredibly nice to me. And also because sleep is for suckers! Staying up all night making comics, however, is for not-suckers. It is known.

Anyhoo, happy happy birthday to you, Ms. Oliver! And to everyone else attending Las Pegasus Unicon, have the best time ever!

UPDATE- Fixed the Tumbleweed blowing in one direction while the windsock indicates another. I made that panel at 4 am, I'm allowed to be stupid at 4am. I'm afraid I don't have any excuse for the other 23 hours.

Power Loader Cadence

The characters and power loader have been haunting my hard drive for awhile now and just haven't been able to come up with a decent backdrop for their epic confrontation. Not terribly happy with this one, used a bit of a recycled BG, the lighting fanciness isn't quite fancy enough, etc. But I'm just going to call it done and move on.

Besides, it's not like it could possibly be worse than Aliens Colonial Marines. OOOOOHHHH!

Tonight we'll be watching Die Hard With A Vengeance, aka Die Hard 3 in the stream. In honor of the occasion, here's a quick synopsis of the water jug test that villain Simon forces our heroes to solve under threat of exploding.

When I was a kid and I first saw Die Hard 3, I was frustrated by my pea-brains inability to suss out how exactly this things worked. Only as a grown up with a velociraptor sized brain did the answer finally sink in.

My 12-step program to stop making overused Scootaloo chicken jokes seems to be working. Thankfully, chickens are inherently funny, even when they're not being compared to flightless Cutie Mark Crusaders!

Oh, also, here's a comic! A bunch of my comics have been kind of big, crazy monstrosities lately, so I thought I would try something a bit simpler. My only regret is that by limiting the panels I didn't have room for a Serious Sam joke.

You'll just have to imagine one of those big headless dudes with bombs for hands running through Ponyville.

PS- First time tagging a comic with "Beverly Hills 90210" so that has to be some kind of terrible milestone in my life...
