The idea behind the zombies in this setting is that they're created from an infection that is more plantlike in behavior (I believe scientists were creating a fungal virus to put life on another planet.)

How I used to feel when seeing trees in the winter at 3:30pm, with the long slanted shadows. Like I should've known where they were from, why it was important to me, but I could never come up with a 'real' memory on why they would give me such a drawing feeling.

tea (Darjeeling tea), Japanese Sumo Ink (I swear this bottle is like 10 years old, finally almost empty!), and gold gouache. Let this sit for a while because I couldn't figure out how to lighten her up. Darjeeling tea stains dark very quickly, not light like some of the other's I've used, but I'm not fond of the flavor so it's been reduced to stain tea. I'll just have to keep remembering to hold off on the third 'coating'.

If I reach out my hand, why can I not touch you? Our fingers meet, but your world dissolves from view in the rippled glass. Are you gone? Do you dissolve as well, or do you remain, though obscured from my sight? Would you exist, even if I looked away?
(Pause, she withdraws her hand)
Which of us is the reflection, you or I? The beauty of your world is greater than mine. The moon here seems garish and bright, but yours floats languid and pale. These branches, twisted and angry, but yours sway gently in slumber. If the hand of God creates all that is beautiful, then yours must be the world he crafted, and mine the hallow reflection of divinity.
(pause)
Is it you, then, who created my world, and will I vanish if you turn away? Am I only a passing figment of your dreams?

Snake and the Moon

This is based off of a Native American legend: the snake (first snake, so it's HUGE) falls in love with the moon, and keeps trying to find another tall hill, and then another, to see how close he can get to her. Ends up pissing off the sun and the sun breaks him into many little snakes.

So... with that in mind, I departed from my usual work finally

This was a fun piece, took a while to figure out how to handle the carriage, but it had read (in the story) like it was a camel, and that's what it became

The scene is the two characters are running away and this rich fellow just happens to be at the wrong place, and will become useful when the boy in the background takes out his camel's legs.
