TPBoD - Rise And Shine

In the following three seconds Vexen realized three things.
The first was that he was in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room on an unfamiliar world, and that all of his past life was lost to him forever. This is not a comfortable first insight in the morning.
The second was that he was wearing next to nothing, and that during the night his blanket had migrated south to just barely cover what needed covering, leaving the greater part of him quite splendidly exposed for the world to see.
The third was that it was Marluxia standing next to his bed, shaking him.

Another picture inspired by TPBOD - Renegades, the epic-aspiring fanfic I am writing together with two very skilled writers.
This picture was made partly to make up for chapter 007 being a week late, and partly to coax my poor battered muses back into action.
So here, as in the chapter, we have Vexen contemplating the past and present as well as betrayals both suffered and committed, silently wondering what the future will hold.

The Great Bunny-Wars

I needed to sketch a bit to get some aggravation out of my system, as well as to let the muses out to play to keep happy after tying them up with big, intimidating projects for a couple days.

This is another of those nice "This is what it looks like inside my brain" images. Freud would have a field day.

The big monster-bunny is the incarnation of Tpbod, ie The Plot-bunny Of Doom. A monstrous project indeed (which may or may not, incidentally, be right on the verge of taking off, but that's top secret, so don't tell anyone, least of all my unsuspecting muses).

The sleek-yet-scary bunny is Mutated Offspring, one of Tpbod's few surviving spawn. Also known as "That Even-Amaru story" or, if you want to get fancy " Working name: Radiance Reborn".

The poor little bunny in the corner is all new and fragile and kind of special - I'm doing a trade with one of my favorite artists on Y, but the rare thing is my part consists of writing a fanfic rather than drawing something.
I've never written a fanfic on request before, and so I've had to take some sneaky measures to lure the muses in on this new track. Remains to see if it'll work; I have another month to get that one written.
So far that bunny is knows as Baby Bunny, and it being flatlined is actually a very good thing indeed - hypothermia may do that to Marlu-... er, poor little bunnies. >.>

Nothing compares to Tpbod - it's a massive, scarred sly old veteran of a bunny, and in a league all its own. But Mutated Offspring is no lightweight either, not at all. At the moment it's mostly those two stories competing for attention in my mind. Tpbod is winning, of course, but Mutated Offspring is at least giving it a good run for its money.
Baby Bunny is still tiny and fragile and very rarely gets a chance to hog the spotlight, but really; the greatest victory is already won - it can actually lay there all clinically dead in that field without any of the other two having it for breakfast right there.
That's a bit o rispeckt in itself. Really.

And here we have that dysfunctional duo Even and Amaru again - the somebodies of Vexen and Marluxia, living normal everyday life (this is where we break down and laugh till we cry right?) in Radiant Garden these days, managing to squeeze in some honest work and helping restore the city inbetween the frequent misunderstandings, angst and more or less local disasters. u.u

I doodled these portraits partly to experiment a bit with Painter's smudge-brushes (and deciding I'm not good enough with Painter to bother, thus sticking to Photoshop and Photopaint) and partly to have as inspiration, as I'm currently procrastinating writing a one-shot with the two gentlemen in question for a fic-trade with the wonderful ~spark-chick.

Sooo... where to start? The infamous Plotbunny-O-Doom takes us many places, but one of the most intriguing and amusing spawn it's provided is this. That's Even, there, and Li-Amaru, the somebodies of Vexen and Marluxia. I posted a bit of backstory for how they ended up like that in my LJ a while back (here), and this was just a natural continuation.

Amaru is somewhat clingy. This for quite good reasons, as Even is an extremely slippery kind of person who would rather not take responsibility for anything whatsoever ever, and whose response to domestic trouble tends to be the back-door. In the dead of night. Possibly leaving a note. If he's feeling magnanimous.

This is not AU, but more of a spin-off sequel to a monster plotbunny of a potential parallel scenario taking place between CoM and KHII. This particular story is set post-KHII, and features, among things, Even and Amaru and their daily disasters in Radiant Garden. u.u
They're... even more dysfunctional than your usual brand of 411, if that's possible. And oh-so much fun. XD

Marluxia and Vexen seem.. less than thrilled about the whole thing, though. Wonder why? XD
( They got their current outfits from the tailors of Disney Castle, which would explain the... slightly OOC look. And Mickey-buttons. XD)

Vexen and Marluxia had a little disagreement, and Vexen ended up quite worse for wear, thorns figuring generously in the equation. u.u

Another one of those commissions I really enjoyed doing; this is a scene from the lovely fanfic 'Puppet' that focuses on Vexen and Replica Riku, with a bit of implied 411 between the lines. I recommend you go read it if you haven't already.

On a side note, I really, really hate Riku's dark outfit-stuff-thingie. Not only because it looks weird, which I can deal with, but because it's hell to draw. ;_;

A commission I did a while back; request was for something mentor/pupil-inspired, yet suggestive, some kind of cuddling going on.
I like these two. Maybe not my own personal fave cup o tea for downright slashing, but with their neighboring elements and vastly different personalities, it's interesting to consider any kind of interaction between them. ^_^

Does this count as Mature, I wonder? Nothing blatantly naughty going on, but the clothes are definitely heading for the floor. >.>

A quick image I slapped together for Valentine's day '07. I was quite ill at the time, so it's not among my most polished works, but damn if I'd let 411 get away without dragging them kicking and screaming into the pink, heart-filled horror that is Valentine's.

A bit dark, just the vaguest hint of non-con.
Bleeding hearts, Dicentra spectabilis, just seemed the perfect flower to sum up their relationship - not only a beautiful flower crammed thick with nobody-symbolism; it's also quite toxic.

Marluxia is one of my favorite KH characters. The fact he's a kick-ass, macho, flower-wielding pink-haired assassin male makes him such a wonderful concept in my book it can't be expressed enough. He may be pretty, but there's nothing girly about this particular death angel.

Because while Zexion is not one of my favorite characters, he does go with Lex, no questions asked.

This was a gift for the wonderfully talented Abby/Sparkchick, who is one of my all time favorite KH writers. She's very much into Zex-Lex, but that's ok because she also writes absolutely yummy 411. And DiZ/Vexen. And, well. Her writing is good enough I'll happily read most anything put in front of me, even het, Akuroku or the Zex-Lex stuff.
Anyway.

This goes with the other similar sketch I did of Vexen with his hair combed back, but loose.

Quite nice, still very much Vexen, but I think I like his original hairstyle the best. I do love his pretty hair...

Ref'ed from the CoM sprites since I'm still cranky at Squenix for what they did to Vexen in that Re:CoM trailer, and I always liked those sprites anyway.

A few months back, we had a 5 week Photoshop-course as a mandatory part of the education I attend. Great chance to learn a new program thought I (turned out I was right, these days I use Photoshop a lot more than Photopaint, which used to be my weapon of choice)

One of the assignments we got was to draw a figure ourselves (it was a very, very, very basic course for utter beginners) to match the theme of a very simple fake webpage the instructor had made. It had air-balloons on it.

There is no way anyone can tell Silvy to draw something without her shoving a Vexen in there somewhere. Thus adorable chibi-Vexen with his pretty blue balloon was born. And it's not got helium in it, but hearts. Really. >.>

Vexen - Queen of Spades

When me and my friend were in Stockholm a while ago, we visited, among things, a place that sold Kingdom Hearts merchandise. One of the things we found was a KH deck of cards. We couldn't help leafing through just to see what nice pictures were on them, and were delighted to find the Organization as the Spades.

So, in group of twelve males and 1 female... Vexen gets to be the Queen. And you know it's funny because it's true: with that hair and those hips and that narrow femmy face... Oh, yes.

Unfortunately Square Enix still hasn't realized how great Vexen looks in drag, so they just had the ordinary character-art on the cards. But we all know if he was the Queen, Vexen would go all out like this. X3
Ah, Queen Vexen of Spades, you're a true diva.

One could claim this symbolizes me pimpin' Marluxia/Vexen and spreading that 411-love across the art communities of the world.
Or you could be honest and say it was inspired by the fact that when I accepted commissions a while back, I blatantly said I'd only do Org XIII commissions, and that anything involving Vexen and/or 411 would be done first.

A sketch I did between working on those commissions to prevent artistic burnout. Normally I loathe self-insertion with a passion, but this was just a silly joke. Grain of salt.

Poor, poor Marluxia. One of the most constantly and horribly ukefied characters of the Organization!
If you give him a good look you'll find he's actually rather muscular and masculine in build; it's the pink that firmly and unforgivingly marks him a fruity flowerfairy in the collective eyes of the fandom. XD

Perhaps not the cleverest choice of color and element if you want to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies, o Graceful Assasin. X3

I really love the sub/dom non-con Marluxia/Vexen. I am amused by and secretly quite fond of the fluff.
But this right here? This is 411 the way it really rocks my boat.
Fairly equal footing, mutually semi-consensual, a struggle for superiority on every single level. Neither part willing to submit, but both rather addicted to whatever little dysfunctional thing they've got going on.

This is what happens when you realize a fraction of a second too late that you've forgotten to change back to your good weapon after running around treasure hunting and levelling for a few hours, and you square your jaw and proceed to bludgeon the poor nobody to death with Sweet Memories.
Battle complete with twinkly stars, shamrocks and little fluffy bumblebees. And bubbly squeaks.

Look at the bright side, Saix. We still forgot to change weapons until we came up against Xemnas, and he got squeakily bumblebeed to death, too. It's not utter humiliation if it brings down your boss as well. XD

I've had a real low this fall; lots of different sorts of nasty has happened, and I've been pretty blue.
And then, enter stage right, the obsession hit. Suddenly there's a lovely fluffy, sparkly pink cloud between me and that uncooperative reality, and I'm borne forth on a wave of Fangirlia.
Usually I'm much too cynical to get quite so carried away; it's been years since my last really big obseesion, but this time I got it bad. Fangirling against depression. It's not a pretty sight, but it works. u.u

So that's me there, and the Organization. Especially the more Vexen-y part of the Organization.

I just liked this one enough for it to warrant its own file rather than being crammed in with the other sketches.
There is such a lot of heartfelt (well, you know what I mean) dislike, power-competition and downright hatred between these two! It's a pure treat!

Poor Vexen, he must not have been happy at all to end up in Castle Oblivion with Marluxia as his superior. And I'm perfectly sure that Marluxia, obnoxious little sadist of a bastard that he is, will oh-so-happily tage advantage of his position to further torment our favorite evil scientist. X)

These were done directly on the computer with my broken tablet while I was on the phone. Any suckiness on their part is therefore blamed on said tablet, and the artist neatly steps clear of any blame. >.>

During my insane Vexen-doodling this weekend, a few images inspired by various fanfics nestled in among the others (sorry, no cake yet.)
This one was inspired by the bittersweetly wonderful tale Cats In Boxes. This was really rushed and sketchy; I really should do something halfway decent for that fic (to hopefully... inspire the authors to get in gear and write a sequel-... er, ulterior motives, who? >.> )

... was to fangirl Vexen. Beyond all reason.
I'm still working on getting his design memorized (yes, thank you Axel) and the best way to do that is of course to doodle incessantly.
I probably would have spent the weekend laboring over some ridiculously detailed and nifty full-blown CG image of said Vexen, except my tablet is broken, and my new one is stuck in customs until further notice (curses, foiled again).

Vexen rocks. He's such a great character. We all love Vexen, don't we? *twitches slightly*

Because certain Organization members need more love, dammit! Not to mention more 3D screentime. ;_;

So. Kingdom Hearts II was finally released in Sweden, and me and friend Chigrima finished it last week. To try and sort out continuity I went on youtube to re-watch Skies of Memory, the Chain of Memories compliation that gives all the good storyline stuff to those among us who can't be bothered to actually play the little nuisance of a game.

And that was how I rediscovered the wonder that is Vexen.
How the hell had I managed to overlook this creature's greatness before??
He's cold, intelligent, aloof, bitchy... and he gets to crawl before his should-be subordinate and then beg for his life on his knees! What's not to love?! *loves Vexen*

And so my never-failing gift for picking characters-with-least fanart leaves me despairing, as it's so hard to find good fanart/fics with in-character Vexen. Or not-so-in-character but genuinely funny Vexen.

Pangaea - Lazuli In Pleasure

Pangaea: Because Y!Gallery is inspiring. Because I love Lazuli's profile. Because I wanted to draw something that conveyed the feeling of just a little naughtiness without actually showing anything inappropriate at all.

It struck me when I started doodling on this that my first instinctive choice of basic background color when drawing Lazuli is a dusky lavederish hue of evening blue. I think I've used it on almost all his pictures.
So on this one I decided to head straight for the opposite direction and go with the warm colors of sunset instead; using peach-golden highlights on his hair while still trying to maintain a feeling of dark midnight blue.

... and exactly what Rion is doing out of frame to induce that dreamy smile right there is anyone's guess. X)

Once again extreme stress and pressure with schoolwork leads to a spree of creativity. I so should be writing my essay instead, but it's nowhere nearly as much fun! T_T
So... I drew bitches instead. From left to right is =croaky's smexy demon vixen Bitch-Kyuubi, ~melus:' kickass blackblood general Muini, and finally my velvet n' venom machralese courtesan Ebenholtz.

This trio just struck me as the kind of gang to either hit it off perfectly or leave the scene spattered in red within the first few seconds of seeing each other. Judging from this image, things seem to have worked out well. Ebenholtz and Kyuubi are probably giving their somewhat more butch fellow bitch some beauty-care tips, to the latter's apparent amusement.

This is a very no-mess-with lady. Even semi-divine Idoih will avoid getting on her bad side if he can.

Then again, just about any side is her bad side. Hm.
The other generals regard her with a mix of respect, grudging admiration and, in at least one case, heartfelt dislike.

A small painting of my favorite deity - Set (Seth Sutekh ) the Egyptian god of storms, the desert, power and chaos.
A very double-natured god; a force of both destruction as well as being the sun god's guardian, using his destructive power in the service of light.

Dear, dear, whatever can I say about this...?
This picture is the prize-illustration for a downright hilarious entry in the latest challenge over in the Pangaea LJ Community.

The winner fanfic was called Fractured Fairy Tale, written by Kagehana, and you can read it Here.
Characters in the picture are... well, some rather interesting takes on Rylerion ZanTaoyaka, Narcissus, Lapis Lazuli and Corrin.

Pangaea - Lazuli and Luce

(Okay, so it's not pure 'Pangaea' art, but more of a fanservice crossover. It's got Lazuli in it, so it still counts. u.u )
This was a commissioned piece, and a collaboration between me and =croaky, ordered by ~Hettar7.
It's always fun to draw your own characters, especially when nice people give you money to do it. ,)p

This is (of course) my Lapis Lazuli, posing away with croaky's Luce. For many reasons, this commission has taken me a ridiculously long time to finish, but it feels really good to finally have it all done. ^_^

Lineart by =croaky and coloring by me. Much luff on the outfit croaky drew for Lazuli - although the details were a pain to color. ^_^;d

Eiki Amakaze - Akuma

My part of an improptu art-trade with =croaky that I did last night between midnight and early morning, taking a break from working on a commission. I offered to bribe her with an Akuma-chibi if she would make a quick doodle of one of ~melus' much neato characters that I sometimes RP.
Croaky said sure, why not? And when the sketch of the chibi was nearly done, she says " But if you would, I'd really prefer a non-chibi picture. Needn't be fancy, just a pencil-doodle or something."
So I took a merry waltz with insomnia, and took the pose and concept from the chibi-picture and did a full-scale thing instead. With ink. And CG screentones. And bloody full-body anatomy, neenja details, lots of black and a general half-assed attempt at mimicking that very talented lady's style.
Oh, and a cat.
So much for doodle. At least Croaky was happy, which is what counts. u.u

Rylerion examined his palms in the moonlight. Lazuli stretched out towards him on his belly, his waist-length hair near-blanketing him. It was the color of a coral sea and so were his eyes, now dancing with mischief. Oh, let me help. I like the taste of blood.
Especially mine, said Rion sourly, but he let his friend lick his hands clean. You wouldnt do that, he muttered, if you knew where my hands have been.

Erm, it'sa bit hard to explain what really happened here. All I can say is me and a friend had a conversation about badguys, which ended with the following lines:

Soawen: Come to think of it, the same can be said about a lot of the so-called bad guys. They're just misunderstood! ... Take Rannon, all he needs is a fluffy bunny and a Real True Friend (tm) to lean his head on. Really!
Silvestris: Now I get visions of Akari in a bunny suit. Not sure if this is a good thing.
" Here, Master! I'll be your Real True Friend! *And* a fluffy bunny, all at once! It's a discount, see..?"

And, er, well... How could I not draw it..? XD
I guess if you don't know the characters, it's really not that funny, but... Eh.

Akari and Rannon are from my Pangaea, of course.

Commission - evening sea

To show that I'm still alive, I upload this.
This is the result of the commission I auctioned off at eBay at New Year's Eve. As promised, all the money went directly to the Red Cross International Response Fund, to help Tsunami victims or whomever else out there who needs it.

The scene was to be evening on a cliff high above the sea, with the branches of a huge tree above and behind these two characters. Personally I like how the moon and water turned out; I also feel I'm making some slow progress in the never-ending battle of drawing rock that looks like rock.
