Clothing: Cloaks inspired by the game Journey in earth tones and neutral colors. He also carries a waist satchel that contains his companion, Mugsy, a black bear hamster. The goat's head staff he carries is for holding a lantern at night and used to knock apples from trees.

Personality
Likes: Fruits, candy, playing in the snow, the smell of sweetgrass, dogs, kids, pranking unsuspecting humans in the woods, winter, fall (the colors and apples), natural music
Dislikes: Meat, flies that bite, destructive humans, most people that generally wreck up his home, burrs

Jankin, but often called Jack by his mates, is an upbeat and spirited little faun hailing from the hills of Iceland. He is typically found gallivanting through the forest with his hamster companion playing in flowers and picking up bugs. His duty is to protect his home and also to aid humans when needed, thus at night he carries a lantern and appears as a will-o-wisp, helping travelers out of the woods or to get lost deeper in them. He's extremely playful and is often seen bounding and rolling with his mates in their giant black fuzzy dog forms.

Quirks and Tidbits:
- He is a strict vegetarian. He hates meat.
- In winter he lets his coat grow out so his legs are super shaggy, he typically keeps himself sheered.
- Apples are his favorite fruit. Ever.
- He will make and wear clover and daisy chains, and then eat them later.
- He is the forest champion of Mud Ball.

Another piece completed that's been hanging back in the archives for over a year now~
This image went through changes from is initial draft on my tumblr post, well the background did. After watching Moulin Rouge for like the billionth time, I wanted to go in a very flashy, glided vintage nouveau poster type of illustration. The ending result is this piece I am in love with. * u * Eriya and Naria are two of my favorite (and personally special) characters from a series (and movie) that I've loved for years now. I'm SO glad I'm at a point in my art life that I can do them justice and produce not bad fanart of them.

Finally finished with this one after months of it sitting here! @ x @
As I mentioned on my tumblr post of this, I was doing the Draw It Again Challenge. Overall, I'm really really happy with this piece! I fucked around with the colors so much and finally settled on something today so it could be done, lol, such is my life. Obviously, Capra has gone through some changes since I last drew him!

More subdued blues in the hair, a goatish nose, long floppy goat ears *love*, and a wardrobe upgrade - he's lookin' pretty amazing if I can say. If this and my previous piece were any indicator, I'm gonna be drawing a loooooot of satyrs, fauns, goats, etc. <3333

So while *greybriar and I were sitting at the table working on commissions last night, they suggested I make a gem brush to spare myself from hours of painting each and every one of them by hand. BEST. IDEA. EVER. So this morning for a few hours I sat and made these 25 brushes of pure unadulterated magic. I'm debating making a tutorial on how to use them, but its more fun to actually figure out how to make them work instead of doing it "my way". Anyway, yay brushes! 8D
These were created in Photoshop CS2 and should be compatible from CS2 and onward~

Rules - If you use them, please give me credit and a link back to either this deviation or my page would be greatly appreciated! You can use these for anything you want, including commercial work. The only thing I don't allow is selling the brushes exactly as they are, so that means don't stamp them on a plain white bg and try to make cash off them.

This piece is a culmination of many things, and typically I don't talk about things that are personal publicly if ever. Please understand that and be respectful.

Last week I lost someone I considered a friend, his life was ended suddenly and far too soon for the 23 years he was given in this world. It sent a shock through my system that I can't explain. I've never lost anyone the way he was lost and even now I still grapple with that. We may not have been the closest of friends or talked every day and I feel like its not my “place” to be as torn up about it, but I am. Losing him drove home the reality that tomorrow... my friends may not be here.

When I consider you a friend, I take you into my heart and keep a piece of you as you keep a piece of me. Friends mean as much to me as family, friends /are/ my family and that's something I can't even begin to explain.

I will be the first to admit that I am /terrible/ at keeping in touch these days, I'm not the extrovert I was years ago and the past year has made me quiet and contemplative. Even the sobering events of the past week have moved me to a silence of stunned grief and regret. It has made me realize that even though I've pulled into myself, there are still those around me that need to hear from me. The friends that remain here and now with me.

I'd written this letter to all of my friends months ago, and every single word still stands.

I love you with all of my heart, I do.
I am always here even if I'm silent, I'm watching.
If you need me, even if you think I'm not there, I am.
You are my friend, you are part of my heart and soul, you are family.

Whew! Took me a while to get this turned out but here it is!
My adoption offer for a lovely centaur from *Aviator33 seen here - [link] (Lovely #3 is mine)

They requested a custom dragon design with specifications of being a mix of modern, Eastern, and Western type dragons as well as being female, light ivory colors, and sporting some sort of deformity or scarring that set her apart from her kind. I.......ran with it. *laughs* I used a mix of cream/ivory with offset peaches and pinks like some of those old vintage cameos, god I love those, really hope that's okay! For the odd deformity I gave her a tree mutation.. infection. She was badly injured and fused with parts of a tree to restore herself, thus bonding with said tree which she lives in/protects. Of course Aviator is free to change anything about her, story included!

Last overdue commission for the sweet and patient, Izisio~
I was so thrilled that he was interested in a Nuevo style commission from me, and one that made my little Art History nerd spaz with joy. o u o He specifically requested an ancient Sumerian theme featuring symbols of the goddess, Inanna as well as dark colors and period accurate jewelry/clothing. I took some liberties with the clothing as he's supposed to appear sensual and powerful, but without the naked part and the jewelry is a mix of museum references from google and my own herpderpary.

This was actually a really tough challenge for me in regards to color. I can't tell you how many times I changed the colors because they just looked wrong/didn't match/etc. but eventually I managed to settle on these. = u = *exhausted, crawls away*

A warm~~finish~~ up before I finish my last traditional media commission~
Derja the Centicore, again, but in her true form which is described in all the documents of her kind. I recently had a breakthrough in regards to a more personal aspect of myself and wanted to make a few pieces that reflected that. Derja is the first of maybe five, three definitely, that will be done as a matching set. This particular piece came along in the same regards as Omen did, only it was tossed in with a bunch of spiritual vent art I posted to tumblr.

To me this is one of the best things I've done so far this year, not just in technical execution but in regards to just putting all of my personal being into something that I'm proud to share.

Another pinup and likely my last before Ohayocon this coming weekend and my big move on Wednesday~ x n x
I haven't done anything with Kashid since I did their concept so I figured a cutesie, whimsical pinup would do nicely to balance out all the other ones I've done. I really really love how this one came out color wise, I actually wasn't sure on Shid's colors at first. Originally they were teal and bluish colors but I thought making Kashid look like a little moonglow would do so much better. And I was right! 8D Totally suits the little sweetie and the theme~

Working on pin ups of some of my babies that need more art of them, this one also doubles as a gift for *greybriar's Rook~
Quiet little deity Moonflower has finally gotten out of her shell and found herself a husband, to which she shyly poses for with the colors of his house draped across her unmentionables. The gold thread around her surely goes back to Rook's hand tied around his finger. Looooots of symbolism in this one too but since I haven't updated Moon's anything I'll have to explain it later.

Starting off the new year with something deeply personal.
There's been a lot of change, even changing still, in my life and I've been reluctant to face it and at the same time dying to embrace it. I am slowly learning to let go and accept, to learn from and move forward, and above all else realize that change isn't something I need to be "afraid" of.

In the Hindu culture, colors hold deep meaning. Every color means something and in this piece, themed from a place dear to my heart and where my spiritual roots lie, there is meaning. The creature herself, now called Derja, is a Centicore - [link] . Often they are described as odd and sinister beasts but to me, personally, they are something more than what is written. For me, Derja represents the shifting of a triad and the merging of energies long forgotten. She is the Voice of Omen, the Bringer of Color, and the Third. She's waited patiently for three years to be bought to light and with the year holding a three, now is as good a time as any .

I won't get any more deep and spiritual than I have already, so I'll leave off with saying peace to you and yours, may this new year bring light to us all.

2012 Art Summary

2012 has certainly been a year for the ages in both terms of good and bad, for both art and life.

But its another year past and under my belt with lessons learned, skills improved, and knowledge gained! I won't do a month by month breakdown as there was a lull in art from me for a few months. I can say though that this year I found my artistic direction in regards to style and how I want to work.

Definitely in 2013 I'd like to do more resin casting, sculpy work, costuming, printmaking, and painting~

Something I've been tinkering with for a while now~
Like his father, Joshua has the ability to put on lingerie and be absolutely gorgeous in it without even trying. THESE MEN. HOW. But I digress.

Wanting to draw something incredibly detailed and complicated this was born lol~ This is something no one would ever see him in save for Sam and maybe his unfotunate father who will probably walk in on it. *laughs* But yes, Joshua wants to be pretty for his Sam and when that happens this happens. And I tell myself now that I won't do frilly lingerie again but I know I'm lying to myself. Though the time and effort is definitely worth it, it turned out so much better than I thought!

More goodies for my lovely watchers, consider this one a holiday present! @ u @
I made these brushes while enjoying a pot of coffee a while ago (which later killed my insides) and decided to turn them into brushes! And shame on me for just getting around to posting them. These were all created using coffee straight from the pot (watered down here and there) and salt to get some textures and variety of darkness as well as design. These were created in Photoshop CS2 and should be compatible from CS2 and onward~

Rules - If you use them, please give me credit and a link back to either this deviation or my page would be greatly appreciated! You can use these for anything you want, including commercial work. The only thing I don't allow is selling the brushes exactly as they are, so that means don't stamp them on a plain white bg and try to make cash off them.

Meet Chana! He's actually my very first gryphon character ever. 8D Chana is a mix of Rainbow (Catalina) Macaw and Black Panther (Jaguar)~ I started this aaaaaaaaaages ago after seeing Rio and being super inspired to work on birds and bright colors. You may remember seeing the wip of this guy on my tumblr.

This is by far one of my absolute favorite pages I've done! SO MUCH GLOW. * u * Leave it to the girls to be responsible and help Zack to his feet while Fu is lured away by a will-o'-the-wisp! *shutupIsawBrave* Wandering off in this strange cave sounds like a terrible idea but as we've all seen, Fu is full of terrible ideas. I took off with Anne's idea of glowy borders and threw in a little texture for that rocky cavey feeling, its super sexy in my opinion! 8D

Following up with the companion piece to this - [link] , this is Hej's guardian the Moss Lion.
Like the sister piece to this I worked with a limited color palette. I tried to stick to that and used the same palette for both pieces while changing the design elements to give the illusion that colors were darker/lighter in areas. Mossy's seems overall darker in appearance than Hejran's and I think that's because he's such a dominant, dark green. I think my favorite part of this piece is the sun and the way he's holding it, probably one of the best claws-out paws I've drawn~

I'm on an Art Nouveau style kick or couldn't you tell? o u o
I was cleaning my desktop harddrive when I came across this piece and its mate that I started back in 2009. Considering how much I liked them and that they don't look god awful in regards to anatomy, I figured I'd finish them up. If I'm remembering right these were for my Design for Illustration class sophomore year and we were supposed to work with a limited color palette of I think four or five colors. I tried to stick to that and used the same palette for both pieces while changing the design elements to give the illusion that colors were darker/lighter in areas.

I'm really happy with this one in particular as Hej is my baby and I just love her and don't draw her enough. ; n ; My entire little forest deity group has been so neglected abubububububu..

I haven't done anything for Boys of Sin in a while, so I figured I'd dig out Greed's pin up and work on it. I actually really miss drawing this little douchebag. Go figure~

I'm really happy with the way this one turned out! I tried very light shading on his body and shading only the jewelry and gold pile. Character design commission for the lovely Taasla~
This was incredibly fun to do! She gave me a color palette to work with and I just ran with it. I ran with it so much that I decided to do a bonus and design an outfit for her. ; u ; I based Holly's markings off of a mix of Siamese cat and Abyssinian, so she's got those lovely rosy points and ticked coat that fades into said points. I also decided for the second pose to dye her hair because she looks good with the green!

Something that isn't vent art because I'm actually in a really good mood~
This has been sitting on my harddrive for two years waiting to get finished (among other things in my art folder). Started it not long after finishing this - [link] with the intention of doing another of my other centaur, Suren. But school happened and ate the living hell out of my face. x n x

But now there is no school and with my mood being so good today I figured why the heck! So I inked it up yesterday a bit, finished the inks today and threw on color and textures. Finally able to post this after super hectic weekend at work is over. x n x
Getting around to making ref sheets of some of my characters that desperately need one, so Joshua was up first. He's needed a proper ref for a while, especially since I use him so often for all my superhero needs. Wrathful, vengeful, and cold could best describe Joshua in a nutshell to those that don't know him well. From an early age he displayed anti-social behavior which only magnified due to his constant stints in the hospital. While he is often reserved and quiet, he does chose to be overtly social with those he is close to such as his true parentage and chosen partner. On the flip side, around those he doesn't know he immediately puts up his barriers and turns on the sarcasm and rude remarks. He has an affinity for driving off anyone and everyone, save for those close to him.

Ability
While raised by human parents, Joshua's true abilities lie in his genes from his father, Rook. Manipulation and control over ice allows him the freedom of carrying an actual weapon. This power allows him to pull moisture from the air or any available water source nearby, freeze it, and bend it to his will. It is a versatile skill of an innate nature known well by any that have dealt with his father. Combining his power over ice with his skills in the martial arts, the young man proves to be a force to be reckoned with. For example, in combat the ring and ice crystals holding his braid would form a blade, allowing him to use the momentum of his movement to swing the blade at his opponent.

Fighting Style
His fighting style can best be described as mixed martial arts. He studied and mastered Shotokon Karate, Ninjitsu, Taijitsu, and kickboxing.

Strengths & Weaknesses
Being aligned with ice his natural weakness is heat. Joshua's tolerance of the heat is extremely low, the highest temperature he can stand comfortably is about 45 degrees. On several occasions he has been seen enduring temperatures up to 68 degrees, but anything higher results in heat stroke and need of immediate medical attention. This intolerance is his largest disadvantage in both conflict and daily life.

His greatest strengths lie in hand to hand combat and his ice manipulation. Any part of his body or attire can be used as weaponry when coated with ice, thus making his attacks ten fold strong by sheer force.

History
“Born” to Jewish-Armenian (Ashkenazim) parents, Yeshua’s life started fairly typical in Yerevan, Armenia. However as the boy began to age he became rather sick, so much so that his parents decided to move to the US in hopes of finding someone that could help their ailing son. It was not only the urge to find their son a physician but the accusations and whispers about their child back in Armenia that set their fears aflame and spurred the move quickly. At the age of six, now living in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Yeshua (called Joshua in the US) appeared to have recovered from the cross-Atlantic move only to spiral quickly and end up in intensive care.

He’d turned extremely pale, even his hair had seemed to dull and take on a lighter shade, and his blood pressure and body temperature ran very dangerously low. Doctors couldn't really figure out what was wrong with him other than he was just a sickly boy and chalked it up to stress as every test came back negative. After a few weeks, he was released and his parents started up the search for specialists and children’s hospitals across the nation to perhaps get him examined further.

Joshua spent a great deal of time in and out of the hospitals and medical research facilities being studied and prodded for answers to his bizarre condition, which only worsened the more the doctors did to him. He was a walking mystery ailment that no human being could seem to figure out, so the doctors would treat for one thing only to determine it was another and so on – exhausting the boy’s immune system and his parent’s funds. As the treatments and tests continued for the next six years, Joshua appearance took on a startling turn and another symptom of his illness manifested. Of course at this point his parents realized it was not really a condition, but some kind of super power manifesting from their son – which no one was really aware of until he started to freeze things uncontrollably.

At the age of twelve he had absolutely no control over his new power, and would freeze the entire house over (inside and out) in his sleep. His parents, much as they loved him, could not handle or fathom this bizarre display and had him sent away to a psyche ward to be contained until they could find someone to help. Joshua, like any child, felt abandoned and betrayed, left in a padded-reinforced room to let his powers run rampant with his rage. Months later his parents returned to have him released into the care of a guardian. The man, Dwayne Sheperd, was an Elementalist who’d worked with “gifted” children for a number of years and volunteered to train Joshua to control his power. Bitter as holy hell about his abandonment and sudden new living situation, Joshua lashed out at both Dwayne and his parents, taking down half of the mental hospital in his wake. The attack was so intense and fierce that it took every ounce of his strength, leaving him a heap at their feet cocooned in ice.

Unphased, Dwayne promised his parents that he’d have their son stable and under control in due time, and would take care of him as if he were his own. Tearfully and terrified at the chaos, they left their son with the elementalist and prayed for the best. Dwayne took him far away from the hospitals and needles, all the way to his cabin just north of Black Butte, Oregon. After several weeks in a coma, Joshua woke up bitter and disdainful, unwanting of Dwayne’s hospitality or help. But the man was patient and after a while coaxed the boy into training.

Gradually, he was introduced to Tai Chi, Yoga, and calming meditation that helped him to refocus his rage and channel his energy to help control his power. As he learned to calm his mind and body, Joshua allowed himself to bond more with Dwayne and held him as a mentor and friend. The greater his control became on his icy powers, the more Dwayne showed him. Seeing that Joshua was not much of a powerhouse in the muscle department, he put him through rigorous stealth and evasion training – taking lessons from ninjitsu while teaching him defense and guarding through Shotokan karate. While he relished the training, the stress and full manifestation of his powers caused a physical change in him. His once brown curly hair grew rapidly, changing colors in a matter of months and developing a white streak much like one would a gray hair. Though he was already pale, his color all but disappeared, and he found himself able to breath fogs of ice and snow if he felt himself becoming emotionally charged.

At seventeen, Dwayne had taught Joshua to successfully hone his powers and fighting skills, encouraging him to get in touch with “Hero Unions” like the Justice League. Being a skilled ice elemental he thought Joshua might find his place among the heroes there or at the very least be pointed in a direction worth taking. With nothing more to offer his charge, Dwayne put Joshua on a flight back to New Bedford. However, upon arriving back at his childhood home he was turned away by his parents. After his destructive display and the story making the papers, they’d come to fear their son. He could not muster a single curse, only feeling his veins burn with hate as he turned around and left. If his family would not take him back, perhaps the League had a place for him among their young recruits.

He was both right and wrong in this assumption and spent much of his time bouncing from mentor to mentor within the Justice League. After months of bouncing around and general displacement, a one Mr. Bruce Wayne, suggested that he be placed with a junior League member and friend. Joshua was less than thrilled with his new guardian but found himself unable and unwilling to contend with the decision. While in Alexis Carter’s care, he was anonymously tipped about a possible lead that would “shatter his foundations”. Skeptical at first, Joshua finally looked into this to find out exactly what was going on. The source, who still remains unknown, provided him with documentation and other information proving that not only was he adopted but his true parentage could be called “otherworldly”. Spread before him were copies of his adoption papers, medical records, countless old worn photos of a man named Rook, and a place that looked like something out of a fantasy novel.

Taking all the information that he had, Joshua began his own search after confronting his adoptive parents for more details, resulting in less that stellar answers. It took several months, numerous leads, and the help of an unlikely billionaire before he was able to meet his true father face to face. Upon their meeting his entire world was opened into a family, life, and culture he knew nothing of. Such discovery also bought with it a “new” name and the arrival of a certain man that easily stole his heart and hand.

My seriously long overdue later than late piece for Java Cats Studio of my Java Cat, Chai Latte.
She's an Abyssinian, not a native breed to India but that doesn't mean she can't immigrate for the sake of broadening her horizons. It was relaxing to do something desert-y that has a cat, I've been in a serious cat mode. Plus, Chai is the first abby cat that I've ever drawn so yay me!

Noir paused midstep, hands resting upon the hilt of the sword hanging from his hip. Konoi, map in hand, paused at this to check their location. She looked to her companion, offering a small smile as she pointed ahead toward the shallow peaks of the foothills. "Its just beyond that first ridge... at least it looks like it is." He gave her a skeptical glance but smiled. If they were lost at least they were lost in the company of one another.

The sixth submission that is part of my massive, on-going gift art project.

This is for ~Jasanni~
I've known Jassy for a number of years, more than I can honestly count, and in that time she has been one of the most amazing and dear friends I could ask for.

We've endured, we've grown, suffered hardships an victories, and come out beautifully in her case. She is a woman of strength, character, and courage that proves time and again the loyalty and love of friendship and family. Her spirit is filled with song and being able to hear such a heart sing is a blessing in and of itself. Jasanni will always and forever be a friend and sister to me, and will always be loved.

One of many pinups coming in the near future~
Decided to do the first one of my lion character, Hazuo - [link] since he always needs more love from me. ; u ; I always do pinups of my characters that are like "ideal" and "pretty" or "perfect", and while Hazuo to me is gorgeous you've gotta admit there's not a heck of a lot of pinups of characters out there with missing limbs. I wanted to show that even though he's only got one leg, he can still be just as gorgeous and lovely as anyone else. <333 Uguu, I love my characters so much ajkjflkdsfsd

The running theme with these pinups with be an art nuveo/Mucha style because I adore Mucha and his style and gushgushgush. Honestly this turned out REALLY well for me trying to mimc his style and mesh it with my own. I'll never be Mucha but this is certainly better than anything nuveo I've turned out before. * u *

Wow, can't belive I'm just now getting around to posting this! x n x
On the 18th of August the gallery where I work hosted an event called The Dog & Cat Days of Summer | Friends of the Shelter Pup Art Fundraiser, which benefited the local shelter and all of its doggies. There were also dogs there for adoption (nngh my heart ; o ; ) as well as dogs that were there with their pet parents and families! It was a really good time and I look forward to it again next year.

We had art of all kinds for sale for the event as well as a silent auction! I really wanted to do something to contribute (other than my eye pendants) so I painted this pretty kitty! He didn't sell sadly, but he's still hanging up in the gallery for sale. He'll probably be coming with me to AWA in a few weeks to find a new home~

Del Lago is a bit of a narcissist, aloof, a playboy, a massive ass biter if you cross him, and a passionate lover if one manages to get that close to him. He's a notorious attention whore, but quells the need to be in the spotlight when he knows he's being obnoxious. Lago enjoys being in the company of his mates, Rook and Flesk, either grooming them or snuggling them like a love drunk chum dumpster. He's good-natured and good-hearted at his core, he's just kind of a douchebag.

ABILITY
He doesn't have much means in the areas of magic or super anything, though he does have one little "oddity" that keeps him alive on land. The sea glass orb in his chest actually functions as a means to allow him to breathe air if he's on land for an extended period of time. His body absorbs the mineral and salt content into his blood stream with the oxygen filtering in through the glass' pores. When he returns to the water, the minerals and salt replenish by means of osmosis.

BRIEF HISTORY
El Diablo del Lago's story starts as any other would, born to a mother and father that raised him with the best of intentions for their cub. He lost both his parents at a fairly young age and the sea raised him, for lack of adequate choices. Despite that he's a rather carefree creature that spends most of his days beach combing and swimming, dining on all the fresh fish and meat he can get his mouth on. And of course while not spending his time at see he is mercilessly hounding his mates Rook and Flesk for sharky playtime or vigorous humping. He's a shameless chum dumpster after all~

This page took me longer than I wanted or intended what with the first psd file corrupting when it was about 75% complete. Couple that with irl problems and then house and dog sitting the past week, yeah, fml. But that's neither here nor there.

Despite all of the problems in just getting to the ending piece, I'm happy with the turn out! I feel like I'm getting better with different types of forests and lighting situations. I may go back in and tweak a few things here and there now that I'm seeing them. Tried some new things with the type, using actual fonts and then my own jittery handwriting for the spooky sounds and background noises. I think its a cool effect, but that could just be me. = n =

All in all, glad to see this one done and not corrupted on my desktop again ajfksfjkls I've worked on this all day and have to be up in a few hours for work. *groan* G'night internet world land place, I'm going to be cranky as all get out from staying up so long. @ n @
